Anyone feel like doing some character art?

I am going to start making a few sprites for my game, but kind of want something to base my sprites off of. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing some character art for my game?

First I need a main character. He's your stereotypical silent adventuring protagonist. Think of like a Link or Chrono type character. Late teens/early twenties, heart of gold, heroic attitude, etc etc. But he needs to look -cool-. He uses a sword.
That's all I have for now. There will be demand for more characters as I finalize who/what I want in the game. I want someone who really just wants to flex their creative muscle and create some pretty bright characters. I prefer nothing that is too "anime", but I mean, anime styles are welcome. And if you're good at drawing monsters, that would be dope too.

This is for a project I'm working on called The Looming Spire. (http://rpgmaker.net/games/1939/)

So, uh.. feel free to PM me if you're interested. Or just post here.
Or if people are feeling frisky, I'll leave this completely open ended so you can just go ahead and start drawing stuff and I'll give you credit or something.

Support indie games! Get the humble bundle!

It's a pay what you want sort of thing, and you get to divy out exactly how much of what you pay goes to the developers, the webhost, and to charity. Pretty awesome. Also, these are awesome games, and they're DRM FREE!! Do it now!

Another idea: Sorting filters

When browsing through games, there are plenty of ways to sort the list of games, but no way to filter them. I'd like to be able to sort the list by rating, but only for games released in the last year, or be able to sort by rating, but only if they are completed, etc. etc.

as it stands, we can only sort by rating for every game released ever.

Would adding a filter to the game search be at all possible?

Idea: "Like"

I know facebook is the ghey, but would it be possible to add some sort of "like" system for RMN? Not just for games, but for screenshots, videos, etc. It'd be separate from the actual rating of the project.

This would be useful if we could see the "latest likes" on the front page or something... in a list of like 20 likes, if possible.

And of course, you'd be forbidden from liking your own shit... and you can only like something from the same project once every 10 minutes or something.

"Liking" forum posts or profile posts might be cool as well.

I'm looking for a practical way for the public to shine some light on a project they think deserves some attention without writing a review... because lets face it, most of RMN doesn't like writing reviews. If we can get even a small spotlight on a project, perhaps someone who DOES like writing reviews will see it and do so themselves.

In any case, it probably shouldn't be called "like".

Cave Story for DSiWare, Nov 29th

Cave Story, arguably the most well-known and highly praised indie game ever, is hitting the DSiWare shop on the 29th of this month (a week away!).

I've bought this for WiiWare already. I'm buying it again, because I like the idea of being able to play this on a handheld device.

League of Legends

Does anyone on here play this game? It's like a standalone DOTA. And it's friggin' free.

The client is pretty wonkey, but the game itself is awesome. I've dropped countless hours into it. Get it and play with me. Username: narcodis.

Narcodis' musical gallery of magic and whimsy

Here I will be keeping track of my musical creations for you to see, and for me to keep record of. I've recently taken it upon myself to write a soundtrack for kentona's Trials&Tribulations, whether he likes it or not. I sort of just butt into his project and said "Hey, I'm going to write you some damn music," and his response was more or less "Alright cool."

But I also write music for myself to enjoy, so this isn't strictly for T&T. In this thread, I'm simply going to keep track of all my midi creations.

For the record, I'm pretty amateur. This format of music is brand new to me, so I've got to start from square one... and square one for me, being self-taught, is ripping off the music I like. Yes, I'll be the first to admit it: alot of this music is very heavily influenced by the bulk of Uematsu's work, as well as other renown video game soundtracks.

Also, none of my songs have proper titles at all, because frankly, I'm terrible at naming things.

Unassociated works (to be used freely in the public domain):

http://rpgmaker.net/users/narcodis/locker/battle.mid - "Battle" music. Based of a song originally written on guitar. Earliest work I still have a copy of. Composed sometime in summertime '08.

http://rpgmaker.net/users/narcodis/locker/rockjoy.mid - Upbeat anthem. Was started as a request which was made of me over a year ago, but I never got around to finishing it until about March 2010.

Trials & Tribulations http://rpgmaker.net/games/1997/ (listed in order of completion; reserved strictly for kentona's use until further notice):

http://rpgmaker.net/users/narcodis/locker/epicbattle.mid - Battle music. Very very heavily influenced from FF4 in particular.

http://rpgmaker.net/users/narcodis/locker/chillideacave.mid - Dungeon-ey music. Possible cave or forest of some kind.

http://rpgmaker.net/users/narcodis/locker/worldmap.mid - When I first went in, this was intended to be the "world map" music, and while it could very well be the world map music, it sounds like it might fit better elsewhere, maybe somewhere with a story element. Or not.

http://rpgmaker.net/users/narcodis/locker/promise.mid - Sad music. A great Game Over track. Was composed in about an hour. Very simple, somewhat bluesy keyboard track.

http://rpgmaker.net/users/narcodis/locker/dementedencounter.mid - Boss battle music. Very intense. My favorite work so far.

http://rpgmaker.net/users/narcodis/locker/sketchytime.mid - Dungeon Music(?). Unusual direction. Very simple structure. I dig the melody, personally.

http://rpgmaker.net/users/narcodis/locker/triumphant.mid - Victory music. When a battle is won, this plays.

How do you go about plotting out combat progression?

What I mean is, how do you guys plan out and implement the numerical stats for monsters and heroes? What method do you use in figuring out how much experience something should give? How many hitpoints something should have? How much damage a spell should do?

I'm totally clueless to this whole process. Explain what you do.

New midi composition

Here is some music I've made:
