If you're wanting to post to your game page, you have to do it via the "Manage Games" page. Statuses don't appear on your game page, they show up on the Community page.

If you just wanted to thank people via the Community page, then that's a bit inefficient in terms of thanking the downloaders, but you do you. :V

Not necessarily. You're correct in that writing a blog, which may include thanking players for downloading/playing the game, would be through Manage Games. If okamen just wanted to thank players, such as this status, a comment on the gamepage would probably suffice.
