Didn't know it had to be done like that. Seems interesting. But hey at least we both gave an opinion to help this guy. :)
RM2k IP system.
I guess it would be something like this
Max IP say 500 (dependent on level)
Damage taken = 150
So we would take the 150 * 100 divided by Max IP then divide that by 2 which would give you 15 IP
You can add a random number or whatever and this keeps the number low and very dependent on Max IP and Damage taken.
Just so you know I've never played Lufia so I dont know how its like, but i use this calculation in my game as a limit break bar.

Out of interest i was making a CT CBS but naffed it off coz im making a FF type one now, but i just wanted to know something. Have you set it so that when you walk into an enemy you fight there and then, no map transitions and stuff, just 100% like the original game? Coz thats the main reason why i scrapped it. Iw was taking me too long to program all the different angles of where to activate battle and where to attack seeing as though the enemies move around during battle. Hit me back man :D

Help with Custom Battle Charcter design :)
Hello fellow RPG Makers, I am still working on my CBS and have got pretty far into it now. No story yet but i have a functioning battle system (you can only attack(for now)). But anyway im getting really excited with what I've made and its looking good. Only thing that lets it down is that i'm very poor at making decent looking sprites, im more of a programmer. Im using 7 of the default heros that come with the RPG Maker 2003 RTP (thats what RM i'm using btw).
So my Help & Request to all of you who are interested; If I show you which characters I'm using and what weapons i have, could you please make me some battle stance and attack poses? Only one weapon will be used to display no matter what weapon you have equipped and they only jump forward, they do not move to the enemy.....yet anyway.

Just because those battle systems look pretty simple doesn't mean they're easy to make... BTW, I'm not a DUDE.
Lol, sorry. And yea Fallen-Griever i agree. I tried using XP n VX but I just dont like them. They have lots of useful stuff that 2k3 doesn't but i've been using 2k3 since like 2004 so i guess im just pretty used to it. But anyway thanks for all the opinions, its been fun :D

post=132087CMS is similarly simple once you figure that stuff out, but there's MORE of the tedious repetition of the show picture variety.Unless you make a map-based CMS.

Oh n i completely agree with Rowan. Both CBS and CMS can both be tedious and boring, but if you know what you're doing, i guess it can be a good time waster.

They're about the same in difficulty imo.
Not when you have 8 playable characters and you only want to show 4 in the battle. That's when CBSs are harder.
Dude why this concept is much more easier than an atb or some stuff like that. Compared to the amount of time u would spend making an atb for 4 characters and a CMS i think my system is a lot more easier. plus its like turn based like FFX. And if you want to implement 8 characters into a menu i suggest copying FF8 or FFX coz they where the best totable playable character CMS. If you get me?

Thank you so much Rowan. I understand completely what you're saying. I would have it check the hero's first and just settle for who ever got checked first to go before the person who had the same speed. I like the "priority" system you've come up with :D

I'd also like to share the fact that my hard drive broke this morning and i lost all of my game :;(
I have another copy of it on my other pc but its like 10 hours of coding behind. So i guess its gonna take me a while to get back up to this stage of coding. But at least now I know what I'm doing it should just be straight forward. Just thought you'd all like to have a little LOL here :D
