PROBLEMGAMERKT'S PROFILE

As you can probably guess, my real name is Katie, not problem gamer. While I've done work in RM200x/VX before, I'm always drawn back to object-oriented programming and the arts. I also like digital video editing.

This site was recommended to me by my cousin and friend, sbester, to get my projects seen by an audience that cares. One is a Roguelike RPG built from scratch in XNA Studio--a real beginner's project, to be sure, but hopefully it will have some merit :)

Lately, I have revisited the maker scene a bit and started dabbling in Ren'Py. The first visual novel I wrote is maybe more of a novella (or even short story), but it was difficult material for me.

When I feel like I can't go on, I just try to remember what the late great Maya Angelou said: "Calling someone a natural born writer is like calling someone a natural heart surgeon".

My favourite RPGMaker-based game is The Way.

Earth to Midgard. Come in Midgard

author=synbi
Looks great for a first draft! Still it's missing some areas that were in the original game, like the bazaar, the volcano area, and all the small dungeons... (I don't know what Valkyries' steppes in the middle is about.) Of course your version doesn't need to include everything exactly as it was in the original...

Thanks :) I have a newer draft that puts this to shame... not sure why I haven't uploaded that one here yet!
I remember the areas in question, but I've been trying to distinguish my game from the first a bit more, with original areas and the like. If I can make that happen and still fit in all the old areas, that'd be awesome :)

A Little Love for the Ladies

She does look a bit odd... what are those green spots all over her? The wings on her head, too. How about a hunting hat? :)

LOL, yeah, the green spots were meant to be eyes... y'know, to fool predators... but it doesn't come across that way I guess. I'll have to work on it s'more.

That's a cool Robin Hood hat :D

Upcoming versions, sequel, collection, etc.

Congrats on hitting 100 downloads today! :)

The Sound of MIDI

author=synbi
Graphics artist, coder, game designer, and now a musician too? Not bad. The forest music sample sounded good, even if it was a little short. It should fit the game just fine.
Aw shucks =D Goodness knows I try. I've been messing with MIDI notators for years, just now getting brave enough to broadcast it to the world :P

Let's not leave out Grade A game tester ;)
I should be... most of my games don't get past my testing phase, haha.

Version Details + Release News

Sounds good. I was just thinking how many text display features there were in rm2k that could work well for this game: font colours, message speed changes and pauses, um... I guess that's kinda it.

♪M.o.M.♪ The Forest Mists

Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate it :)

Walkthrough

Yeah, definitely sounds like a bug you've run into. I'll make sure it's fixed before a release though. I should probably add which guards to kill in there as well.

That would be a good add :)

Yes, lots of Tales of Symphonia influence this time around... well, as far as graphics go, that is. =P

I'd just like to point out in a totally NOT P.C., elitist college grad kind of way that Transvestite and Transgendered are two very different conditions. It really doesn't come up in the game, though.

Walkthrough

Hee, the name of Episode 1 tickles my fancy :P
Sadly, though, this doesn't seem to explain how to get out of my present predicament in the dungeon.

o.O Where am I??

Ooh? Well isn't that swell news :) I wanted to stay active here, since I find that few sites showcase your games better. It would have been a shame to give that up for Facebook and its "who-gives-a-damn" approach. Since my sprites are only 80x80 and they require a 180x180 profile picture, I can't even get one I like on there, lol.

Thanks for the tip!
