Epic Mickey - Exclusive Wii steampunk action game by the maker of Deus Ex and Thief!
It's interesting to me how they handle very graphic designed characters when moving to 3D. Mickey's ears always face the camera in both front and profile view. I don't know that it totally works since they still have to deal with odd angles that were never intended for that design - but it works better than I would imagine it. Astroboy was like that too.
The Iraq War is officially over.

You are correct sir, I don't know much about American foreign policies. But, Is it true that Obama's stimulus bill cost close to the amount of the Iraq War? That was really what I was going for.
You could say "sorta" but it's intellectually dishonest really. PolitiFact article that goes over it explaining it's dubious math. Plus soldiers lives should carry a tad more weight than money when measuring American losses and waste.
Any ideas?
What RPG Maker do you prefer? I have them all apart from 2000.
I don't like to use any of them, but I'll play games made with any of them. I prefer RMXP/VX over the older ones due to scripting, but since the editor doesn't have an API, it makes it difficult to maintain anything beyond tweaking what is already in place.
What genre of game do you prefer? RPG, Action/Adventure, etc.
Well I prefer Action over RPGs, but I don't like Action games made with RPG Maker.
What kind of graphics? Old school, retro, RTP, etc.
I don't care about style as much as I do about consistency. Custom graphics, even if they're bad, usually catch my attention better than rips/RTP though. (Catmitt's stuff over a lot of other things for example)
What type of Battle System do you prefer? Action, sideview, frontview, etc.
Real time - but again, not with RPG Maker.
What are the things do you like most in games? A good storyline, hard enemies, etc.
In RPG's usually storyline, and that's even becoming more true with FPS games this past decade or so. I actually find most of the traditional RPG mechanics pretty boring these days.
What is your favourite game made in the genre stated above? RPG - Final Fantasy VII, etc.
Xenogears
Why is that your favourite game?
I like the Jungian psychology angle it takes with the ego/id/anema stuff. The love story is cheesy sometimes, but convincing which tends to be a high bar for a jRPG. It's just a well done story I think. The art is pretty traditional anime, but the mech/vehicle design I think is top notch. I can't ever remember the artist for that game, but I rank them up there with dudes like Yoji Shinkawa and Feng Zhu.
Is there anything you would like to see in the game? Such as features, i.e. Fishing System, custom menu, etc.
In Xenogears? The second disc not being an obvious rush job/unfinished would be nice. =P

Web developers Flash-hate is a little less psychopathic in nature than Steve Job's Flash-hate. :P
- embed code isn't standards compliant
- SEO is lukewarm at best
- Flash web apps/full flash sites tend to break the browser back button
- doesn't meet accessibility standards (screen readers struggle with it, font size adjustment is problematic, etc)
I'm sure there are others, some more truthful than others. ;)
The primary reason though isn't really anti-Flash so much as it is pro-Javascript. Javascript in recent years has become a better choice for a variety of things Flash used to be needed for. Pulling in an entire html page with an AJAX call (not refreshing the page) is literally around one line of code in jQuery for example. Flash can pull in html, but it's not even remotely as practical.
That said, you should use whatever works best for you personally. A full flash site that is up, is a whole lot better than something you don't know never getting finished. Kinda like RPG Maker projects I suppose :0

If you're more comfortable using Flash you can use actionscript to pull in a simple XML list for the updates. That and even setting up the little slide navigation thing in your mockup is relatively simple to code. I thought you were avoiding Flash because it's Flash. :0

post=154776post=154543Yeah, totally impossible to do stuff more complex then this with only html.
no way in hell can you pull that off in html.
If you really wanna do that learn or hire someone with php knowledge, or you can try finding an html template that suits your needs and edit it.
But the latter sure as hell won't look like what you want.
Also, I've played with a full remake of Amiga was made in HTML5 and JavaScript, but unfortunately it has disappeared from the internet.
Soon as they figure out pressure sensitivity, maybe someone will finally have a decent free alternative to Photoshop, since GIMP can't/won't ever get it's shit together.
Anyone ever built their own website?
For total beginners I usually suggest the video tutorials over at CSS-Tricks. Video #58 is what I'd watch first if you have zero html/css knowledge. Afterwards you can move over to the ones where he builds a website from scratch, and things like that.

Well there isn't really an easy solution with only HTML knowledge. You can try jQuery. It's a javascript framework but works by CSS selectors, so tends to be relatively easy to learn.
Quick Google search brought up this. I didn't see anything exactly what you want, but there are some that are close enough you can probably take them and make tweaks to get what you want.
