Just out of curiosity, why the name "Squidstar Legends?" I didn't notice anything about squids in the story.


Good catch, and now that you mention it It was careless of me not to include this information in the description. I'll get to that soon. Squidstar is kind of a double meaning. It's part reference to my "Brand" I guess you can say which is called "PurpleSquid Productions" and also the "Planet" the game takes place on is known as the "Squid Star."

There really isn't much reason for it to be called the "Squid star" without giving any bits of the story away, Squids to play somewhat of a role in the game, but their quite trivial roles.

Rapidshare download button doesn't work. In other words I can't download it

Strange, it seems to work for me.
Well in case you just misinterpreted Rapidshare's confusing page (That may or may not be the case) just click "Download Now" when it sends to you rapidshare click download under the computer that is under the text "Save file to your computer"
If that was not the case then I don't know, it works fine for me! And my Rapidshare account says that 14 people have downloaded this game. :/

I hate to break this to you but where you have your download is no longer valid. The Feds closed down Megaupload so you need to have it uploaded to another file site

Oh yeah! Forgot about that. Well I want to make some small changes to the game before I make it downloadable again. Some of the face graphics were horrible! Like, ugh horrible, so I'll fix those up and replace the title screen with the new one I drew recently. These changes should be done soon.
I'm also surprised people are still stumbling upon this game! Not that I'm not greatful, it's nice to see someone come across old "War for Wonder Blocks" here. It should be back up in a few hours.

This has got to be the greatest world map ever.


As you can see, at the time when I made this game I was a terrible mapper. Although I made the map look like this to seem "creative" or "odd looking" the attempt epicly failed.

Looks more like a maze than a forest, and not even a good maze. Where's the life? You don't have to DROWN the map in objects, but at least give us more than a hedge and a treasure chest.

Have you ever been in an actual forest? There should be leaves, brush, ANIMALS, perhaps a small pond and/or some flowers in more sparse areas. This... this is just ugh.


Sorry about that, This game was made a while ago and back then I Definatly was not a mapper (I'm still not a good mapper to this day, but my maps nowadays at least look like they have life and thought put into them) I haven't submitted a game on the site in a while and I probably won't until I can make a game that's at least three times better than this one.

Nice pic, but you oughta make your Text a bit bigger and more fancy, otherwise people are just gonna think "Oh man, this guy just puts pic with ms paint text on it. Whoppdy do!" VERY nice picture though

I only just noticed this, but... are those Keyblades?

LOL, when i first made the game I was obsessed with KH, Later throughout making it I lost my obssetion, however I was proud with the title screen as it was, so I left it and decided to make those keyblade like weapons in the game anyways. (These weapons are: Diamond Mist, Aquatic Adventures and Rebirth of A shadow I beleive they were called)

Twice? Are you nuts? Honestly, playtesting should occur multiple (more than two!) times- and preferably every time you complete a sequence or level. I like to keep a fully-played through save game on hand to test levels as they're actually added to the game. When the game is finished, I'll run it again, and probably again after completing it. Then I'll get my friends to run it for me. I tend to be a klutz with forgetting resources (but I just recently fixed that), so in short....

Well I did test play it after like everyevent, by twice I meant, I testplayed it twice after it was fully completed. but if I were to tell you the max ammount of times I pressed the "Testplay" button, well I lost count around 120

Thanks for this review Marrend. I agree on pretty much everything here. I dunno what I was thinking when I didn't even explain the Sectrom's Purpous, Or if I was even thinking at all. I will fully admit I got lazy in the making of the Dragon Island level and in the Sectrom Basement level. I also agree on the fact that the RPGVX sprites are superior, and I knew this from the start, im the kind of guy who likes his things original. I mean even if I were to use a character generator, how am I suppose to make a Dinosuar thing, with a yellow shirt with that?

And you are also correct that I never fully explained who Poley and Waffle were. I know I made a page on this site telling you, but not everyone has the time for that.

You are also absolutily right about the play testing thing. I playtested my game at least twice but I think what I need is someone besides me to playtest it. Next time I release a game, I will try to look for someone to playtest it for me. Thanks for the review.
