Description

Welcome to the Mini Music Challenge, wherein participants will compose a piece a music that conforms to the requirements and theme (once revealed). After the submissions deadline, we will all listen to the submissions and vote for a winner!

The last one went over so well I thought I thought I'd do another quick one.

  • This event will consist of a single phase.
  • Participants will be able to sign up and submit their works anonymously using this event page.
  • Votes will be counted and published at end of the event. The person to receive the most votes wins.
  • The composers will have approximately 2 weeks to compose their piece. This will be followed by a short voting period.
  • MP3 is the preferred format, but MIDI and OGG are also acceptable.
  • The composition must be a new and original piece composed specifically for this event.

Short but Effective
There was an ulterior motive for naming this the Mini Music Challenge. For your submission, you are required to keep your piece to 2 minutes or less in length! Can you convey your desired musical aesthetic under this artificial time constraint? You're free to use any kind of instrumentation and sources of sounds you wish.

Riding the Airship!

Let's go to far-off places, and search for treasures bright! Our heroes have obtained an airship and are cruising around the world in an exhilarating flying machine, flowing through the skies with the greatest of ease! But is your RPG a high fantasy? Perhaps it is a steampunk airship? Or maybe it is a futuristic flying device?

Good luck to all the participants!

I hope this short event turns out well!
This seems super cool! I can't wait to hear what everone comes up with :-)
There should be a rule that you can't enter a premade MIDI or base your entry off something from like Chrono Trigger or SaGa.

We don't want a disastrous troll war like the last music challenge.
The last music challenge was a disastrous troll war? That's news to me.
Troll wars always just make me laugh.. :3
Does anyone know any software for making music from scratch? preferably free.
I used Mario Paint Composer! But I know nothing...

Yeah Kentona, you're the one who based your entry on the Chrono Trigger tune, "Smooth Criminal."
Dudesoft
always a dudesoft, never a soft dude.

For the record, I wasn't trolling. I just suck really bad at music.

I'm only wondering does the song need to have a separate ending, or can it be a loop which is faded out when it starts to repeat?

Usually VG music background themes don't have a separate ending, but well, I don't know the theme yet, either, so I guess it could be something else.

Also, if you recall, people didn't strictly adhere to the requirements of the phases from the past Music Challenge, for better or for ill. Some people took into account how well people adhered to the requirements when casting votes, some did not.

Hmmm.... I always wanted to try my hand at something like this... too bad I have very little musical talent. Other than the Mario Pain Composer, are there any other programs that people suggest?

Also, if someone signs up and doesn't submit a song, will that person be persecuted, shunned, or otherwise punished? Not that I know anyone that would do such a thing...
Since the participants are anonymous, unless you publicly state you are participating, no one will know if you sign up but don't submit.

...except me of course. I know all.

After it's all said and done, will the winners be announced anonymously?

Like last time, I will announce the submissions and their composers and the votes tallied after the voting is completed. But if someone signed up but didn't submit anything, I won't include them in that announcement.
I'd absolutely love to do this
It's a shame i'm about as good at composing music as I am throwing swords to Mount Everest and back...
Anyone know if it's possible to use audacity to make a song... if it's possible, i'll give it a shot...
