Description

We run a lot of gammak events 'round these parts, but not much in the way of resource creating ones, so let's shake that up a bit and get creative!

In this event you will be divided into three teams and given a palette with which to work, as well as a list of resources that need creating.

Each person who submits a work for each team gets 5 points and then less 1 for each subsequent item. The aim is to complete the list, which will give a bonus, as well as to rack up points for your team.

The team that wins will go into a draw for $20 + their choice of a game from my list (1 person). Each person will get as many 'tickets' in the draw as points they made over the course of the event!

RULES:
- Starts midnight of the 6th of March, 2020.
- Ends midnight of the 29th of March, 2020.
- Submit entries by hosting them using the event locker on this page.
- Put your name in the title of the piece and what it is.
- There will be discord rooms open for each team to chat in!
- The creations should be all your own work! No 'borrowing' or using bases to work off! 100% original work only, please!

TO SIGN UP:
Go to this thread and fill in the details - https://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/25049/

You will then be sorted into a team semi-randomly.

- Collectively complete the list to get an extra 10 points for your team total and to unlock extra points!

Teams are as follows:

AUTUMN BREEZE
- coelocanth
- Delsin7
- fomar0153
- garage

There is also a room on the discord for each team which is encouraged for interacting with your team, where the palettes will be available to find as well.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

FAQ

What engine?
- Any engine will count, however it has to be an engine that is at least recent and used a fair amount.

What TOS should I aim to make for?
- Non-commercial free-to-use with credit given to the original creator would be fine, but if you're happy to give it a full 'use whenever' then that'd be awesome and feel free to add to the Resource Section here on RMN after the event is over!

How does the points system work?
Every item you complete will net you a descending amount of points. The first item will net you 5 points, the second will net you 4, the third, 3 and so on until 1 point per extra item. HOWEVER! You will only get these amounts for different items, so you can't just make 10 sprites and get the 5, 4, 3 and 2 points for just that. Any duplicate items you make from the list will be held at 0 points UNTIL the list is completed for your team. When that happens, any duplicates will be worth 1 point each, so they're not wasted to do, if, say, you felt inspired to do a few more bits and bobs.

Basically, pick the things you want to do, but make sure to include a spread so as to optimise your point intake for yourself and your team!

Don't forget to set your site clocks so that you have the right time on the page! Just go to Settings, under your Account, then add in the hourly offset your timezone is in. The timer on this page will change to reflect that hourly offset and let you know the precise time the event starts and ends!

Everyone is busy (either working on their entries - or working at work ;) )
Mirak
Stand back. Artist at work. I paint with enthusiasm if not with talent.

Considering this event requires mostly discord comm, it's understandable.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

The deadline of this event has been extended by one week due to the event coordinator's computer melting into a puddle of molten steel and copper. Enjoy your extra time.

In all fairness, bird shrapnel isn't as deadly as wood shrapnel

IIRC, for revision we just add a "2" at the end, right? Redid my first three voice clips, and added those and the new ones to ZIP files.

They told me I was mad when I said I was going to create a spidertable. Who’s laughing now!!!

This is a cool idea. I'm sad I missed it.

I mean, nobody's stopping you from making your own resources with the palettes, independent of the event!

But the makerscore! And the teamwork! And the feeling of crushing your opponents just to win 20$!

You can still submit resources to rmn's resource page for makerscore!

Are we allowed to submit(own) event's submission for rmn's resource page after the event ends?
Vaccaria
You'd think MZ would use a dictionary for switches/variables by now?

I'd like to offer some criticism in case this event is held in the future:

I really like the idea of a limited palette theme in general. However, having such extremely strict rules on it for artists only really turned me off of an event I was pretty excited for originally.

The idea, I assume, was for creators to make resources for community use. However, if artists are limited to a set of specific colors, with no deviation, blending, or even gradients, for things like portraits, sprites, and background, they're going to make things that the vast majority of devs are never going to touch, because they're just too weird- you couldn't use them to supplement RTP, and there aren't enough made in the event to make more than a little bit.

In addition, the limited palette is super punishing to visual artists when every other category has a limit of "maybe sort of conforms to the theme, or not, whatever." It's pretty discouraging to watch other people on your team churn out content while you're wrestling with a total of sixteen colors-- and no neutrals allowed!-- trying to make something that looks passable.

I started the event excited at the prospect of adding something useful for the community. I ended with just going with an almost completely useless background set made of a bunch of elements that appeal to me, specifically, because the limits made it impossible for me to make something that'd be generally useful.

If this event happens again, I'd really recommend easing the restrictions on visual art. It may not make much difference for things like UI, but goddam do they suck if you want to make diegetic visuals!
