DIABLO 3 RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED
Posts
It's where you go to relax tired and strained clicking fingers and share words about D3 without the constant sound of click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click
Yeah i pre ordered this beast. Yesterday sat there for like 6 or 7 hours letting a 7.60G download go through.
Well 5 more days and its on. Ive been seeing tons of commercials for this. Its looking pretty sweet.
Haha, I fondly remember one night me, my two brothers a friend were all LANing Diablo 2, and we all turned down our music at some point because we were talking and a few moments after it fell silent and all you heard was click-click-click-click-click-click-click.
We had a good laugh because we all noticed it at the same time.
I can't wait for Diablo 3, saw a commercial for it the other day on TV, thought it was some awesome movie for a second before I saw the angel.
I need a better computer though first...

If you're computer wasn't too bad when you first bought it, then you should be able to run Diablo 3. It's not exactly the most intensive game out there, not by a long shot. My computer is pressing three years of age and I have every setting maxed.
I havent been able to install it. I sat here for like 4 hours and then it stops half way through with some crap message about cd popping out or digital download. I put in a ticket and when I did, I saw the forums littered with this sucks....I want a refund....Absolute crap....Only 6 hrs long? SO its not looking good.

So. Is this any good?
There is basically no way to get an intelligent response to this question yet. Best wait a week when hopefully the honeymoon is over and people can speak coherently again after getting over their initial bias.
(Trip report on the weekend, I won't be playing it until then and I got a buddy to do the same)

Well I was pretty much anti-Diablo 3 originally, but the beta made me fall in love with it. Only got to play for 20 minutes before work this morning. Hoping to have a nice and long session with the game tonight.
The game is incredibly satisfying to play. Combat is fun, the visuals are great, the physics really add to the enjoyment, and the story/cinematics... awesome.
There is one issue though, the online-only. There is the occassional lag, and it hurts the game A LOT when it happens, because it's so fast-paced and oriented on good positioning/reactions to monster abilities.
Getting swamped by a bunch of Wallers, while rubber-banding across the screen trying to run away/fire off spells messes up the otherwise perfect fun.
Luckily it doesn't happen often, but I still wish I could just play offline SP all day long without having to worry about lag/disconnects in such an action oriented game.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

You can play without worrying about lag/disconnects bro. You do still have to log in, just to prove that you didn't steal the game. But if you are playing single-player, then once you're logged in, any lag is just your computer's processor/gfxcard and not the internet. It doesn't constantly read everything to and from an online server like a true online game unless you're actually playing online.
There are only two situations where the online-only matters: you don't have internet access, or you want to steal the game. It will keep you from playing on airplanes, but if you can play then it will never slow you down.
Anyway I installed this last night and played for about two hours. If anyone wants to add me and maybe do some co-op, the email connected to my account is ff3lockez@yahoo.com.

That's not true actually. I've got multiple disconnects while playing alone, plus there's a latency indicator in the interface. Sometimes I've had around 500-1000 ms. :/
Other than that I have no real complaints so far. Playing warrior has been really fun so far. I'm nearing the end of chapter 2 myself. Once I'm done wiht warrior, I'll probably try out Withc doctor.

Funny, I tested it by playing with uTorrent running, and Google was taking like 45 seconds to load its search results, but Diablo ran perfectly. The latency wasn't actually slowing down the gameplay. Maybe that's not true for everyone though?
If you got disconnects then yeah I can see that being a problem, but... well, that falls under "don't have internet access" to me. If you're being kicked off the internet by something then you essentially don't have real internet access, I assume this happened because you have a laptop with a broken wifi antenna or something? Or is your router like my friend's old one where every time someone turns on the microwave oven, everyone gets kicked off the internet?

some people live in countries where this shit just "happens" and your company says "deal with it".
