RMN PIXEL QUILT

Nothing reveals Humanity so well as the games it plays. A game of betrayal, where the most suspicious person is brutally murdered? How savage.

That would work, but to finish a quilt in 2 weeks people would have to go double very often.

I'm all for though. Pixel quilts are an awesome way of practicing my pixel art. :D

Yeah, thinking further about it, I think the blocks are best, and a monthly theme could be fun. Towers would turn into unwieldy scrolling monstrosities hella quick. Also, having it be a monthly thing might encourage people to dillydally less.

I'd also say we should implement a rule where you ONLY claim a square when you're actually in the process of making it happen, to discourage the delay.

Also nothing has yet to beat the beauty and consistency of the 2012 quilt :< (though this last one had a lot of nice elements)

We have too many participants who want to go their own way to get anything consistent, I fear.

This quilt's inconsistency is what I love about it. :D
A tower might turn into a scrolling thing but we could do something similar, like a snake creature that turns back and forth (for example 8 sprites to the right, 1 down, then 8 to the left, 1 down, etc.).
Or maybe just a large creature where everyone do 1 body part.

I think the calendar would work better, even if many people would have to sprite multiple tiles.

Why not just make 12 quilts for a calendar? Instead of doing all of the days individually.
That's a good idea. We could try to finish one every 2-3 weeks or so. It's not that daunting I don't think, I mean the average time per square is probably... what, two hours tops?

We could also do a small square for each major holiday?

Maybe just do a monthly theme square? Then we can do the calendar thing but have it a little bit more focused.

Also might be neat to do things like pick a limited palette, though that might be a bit hard on some of the less-practiced pixellers; I wouldn't want to make it un-fun!
I was thinking that one could, instead of being a square, be the RMN logo, divvied up and we'd fill it with awesome. Basically the same but with different shapes to work with~

Or, with this calendar idea, 2014.

I second that RMN logo idea because it's brilliant.
Doing a pixel thingy with the RMN logo sounds neat, and I think I'll go with that. The rest kinda ties us (read: me) up for a year and I'm sure we (read: me) all like our freedoms intact. If anyone else feel like making a thread for it, though, go ahead.
That said, anyone got a large picture of the RMN logo or do I have to supersize it myself?

I'll see if I can't bang out some templates.

ETA: Do we want everyone to have equal sized workspace, or just work on a checkerboard? (Or something else)
If you mean the "rmn" letters than the font is called vomzom and you can find it at dafont iirc (google it D: I would link it but my pc is giving me pain at the moment)

Guys? Any preferences?
I have no idea which way would work best for an irregularly shaped quilt, sorry D: I guess I'd go checkerboard but with an aim at giving relatively equal overall space in terms of raw pixel area.
Maybe don't worry about equality of space too much. People who are less confidant about their skills might decide to go for smaller areas to ...limit the damage... so to speak. Or if there's another abundance of black. (Please let's not do an abundance of black again?) So, yeah, checkerboard.
Uuh~ That idea is so nice and I am starving for doing some artsy stuff whatever it be, so would be very glad to join in again. ;w;/
I support the monthly pixel quilt and I support the equal size workspace since I don't think limiting the space will help those less confident, kind of bad thing if someone wanted a big one and there are null. Also you could go by themes, March of penguins? April fools, May of something or give challenges like square 4D needs to have a fridge.

Alternately, we could do both monthly AND the logo, since there seems to be enough interest to sustain for a little while.

If we are going to do both, I'd be willing to host one of them.
