I only know that that error doesn't occur on Windows 7, and I have had reports of people with Windows 8 being able to play it.

What specs does your Windows 8 have? I mean I have a 250 dollar laptop that is incalculably shitty and it can run on that, though barely.

The intro is an ogv and plays fine on all systems I've seen it play on, sadly this sounds like something I can't do a whole lot about. Is it when you first boot up the game or when you finish the splash cinematic?
To answer your question, it's a Walmart computer. It was the cheapest one they had which had a DVD player. The DVD player is crap btw, and only opens by going to right click and eject (button doesn't work).

When I first boot up, it displays one of those loading circles. The loading circle freezes, then the computer freezes.

The only thing similar to this I've experienced was when I loaded a plugin, and an error caused an infinite loop (I've since created a check for that error, so it will skip if it fails).

Can you make a "lite version" that has whatever you think might be an issue toned down? I remember playing at least a few scenes of the original Menagerie, not the Remastered.
I mean, what are the technical differences between Menagerie and Remastered. Are both the same in terms of plot, events, and completion?

I know what the issue is, and it's evidently far more severe in it's effects on Windows 8 than it is on Windows 7.

To better cater to lower-end systems, picture cutscenes were discarded in favor of ogv's that would play default to the engine's behaviour, however-- this is Enterbrain, so of course in completely random scenarios, playing the videos will just crash the program, however, this error is assumed to be rare, just as well.

If you cannot boot it up with any hope of success, I'll look into an ogv free version, though that will take some time.
I am currently using 2k3 with a number of movies. To that end, I am using a program called Freemake Video Converter to convert the finished videos to avi. I dunno that it works with ogv, but the pictures could probably be switched from wmv or mp4 to avi. It can also be shrunken to a minimum size (as in, you can control to some extent how many MB it takes up). Avi seems to work fine.

I tested this out (since I didn't make it), and despite not being in any sort of formatting visual/audio, it ran without a hitch.

Erave, I freaking love the way your game is looking.
Hey Guys! Here are some screenshots of my game SARCIA. Hope you like them! :)

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Also I'm in love with your idea that you buy the game, and a location gets added every 2 weeks until it's complete. Hope you can keep it up - I'm sure you will, judging by your very evident work ethic.

Edit: also did you use the RTP, or did you draw some of your own custom tiles?

I'm big fan of Sarcia since the first demo. It had original gameplay based on memorization and these stunning screens of beauty. They changed a lot as years passed, but they keep on being perfectly weird in a good way.

Decided to create a tileset with only four different shades of purple. It's really simplistic, but I wanted to see how well a tileset with the use of one single colour (purple) can look like. I like purple. Not a single room is done so far, every room still needs final touches. (The kitchen looks weird, I know, but you can actually go into a little room on the left side.)

@Kaelar: Woah... I feel like I just saw true beauty for the first time. Excellent work! How long does it take you, usually, to create one of those fine looking maps?

Some stuff that I've worked on the past week, don't really know how I feel about any of it how it's turning out.

Coastal area in Nestway, Lighthouse was created by Pizza (Thank you again again)

WIP, crossroads area but main focus would be the Mother 3-ish paths I created which turned out surprisingly well They also help create some better detail for the outskirts map

WIP, small town square area I created today (Top: Early morning mock screenshot for testing tiles Bottom: Afternoon screenshot)

WIP, look it's WIP

Those bricks on the ground need some help. For one thing they need to be way closer to each-other in color and brightness.

Yeah I'm going over that right now I was just more playing around with them before thank you tho
Edit: How about these?

@Charblar: I think the brick tiles simply have too much detail on them when you consider how closely they're all crammed together. It's creating some banding on the outlines and also giving the sunset version a "magic eye" kind of blurring effect, making it hard to look at.

Perhaps try something like this, with just flats?

Or maybe just remove the highlight, and leave only a soft outline to give them some depth and three dimension-ality?

Generally I try to avoid as much ground detail as possible when I pixel in the style of Brownie Brown's simplistic stuff. I feel like it helps the characters and other solid objects pop off the screen and be more apparent.

Something else you should be aware of is that the hill near the lighthouse needs to come out from the wall at least 2 tiles or so, because right now it doesn't have any depth.

Whoa, Pizza. I'm seeing black dots between those tiles O_O

Edit: @charblar Maybe try making them less saturated? I mean, for money it doesn't look that terrible. Looks kind of cute. The concrete tiles in the first screenshot of the courtyard are really beautiful.

Edit 2: You could try a different pattern, like this:

Wow shit I really gotta up my game.

Gonna be doing some hectic work in May. Don't have much to show currently, but my composer just finished a really solid battle track.

Album Art by Zeirt, one of the newest additions to the CCC. The song of course, is by Jake "MoneyMenace" Gamelin.

@Pizza yeah I was kinda reaching that I added to much detail to them as I had to edit the colors on them I'll try that out, they do look a bit better recolored but I'll test out your idea too.

ingame

edit: I ended up removing the highlight and they look a lot better thank you everyone ^^
Idk I still think the ground looks too distracting. The oval space between them is looking weird too. You might want to go back to the drawing board on these, or consider lightening up the values all around on the brick to make them more subtle.

Also the bricks seem GIGANTIC, which might make them more difficult to read as tiles

I've discovered parallax mapping...and it's beautiful.
