SCREENSHOT SURVIVAL 20XX

Alright, it's been a long time coming, but here we are, the first sight of consistent art direction.
In due course, all portraits will be replaced with this style, courtesy of Bella, the newest addition to the CCC. She's now the lead portrait artist for P:A.
I'll update the floating triangle that is disturbingly symbolic in the back, too. Since it's still hella-mspaint worthy.
Wow, she's really pretty ^_^
author=unityI know!

author=SatedGood call, will do!
I would move that portrait more to the left so that it takes up less of the in-game screen.
author=SatedI'll consider that, too! Not sure how it'll look but I've nothing against trying it.
Probably flip her around so that she's facing into the centre of the screen, as well.
There's also a good chance I'll shrink it down some when finalized, that was just a messy mock up of how it will look, haven't even got the transparent versions yet, so the way I cut out the background color is probably a bit messy.
Edit: Here's an update, with all emotes +spellcircles and runes.

I did try having her flipped, didn't look right. It hardly matters since she's still making eye contact anyway.
Rest in spoipers.A few tile errors to fix in some of these, will get on that.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Is her tongue the same color as her hair? That's kinda weird.

Well, not the same as her hair! But yeah, very close (inb4 LockeZ goes and runs a hexcode check to see if any match on the tongue and hair just to foil me, again!). Sharing her appearance with many of the Naxonites who have blue mouths and eyes.
I may also just have a gross infatuation with the black, blue and Cyan color palette.
It's the colors of Heldath (i.e. obviously Hell), I wanted to make an inverse to the typical fiery red and black brimstone, this influence stems all the way back to Hellcat where Heldath was first conceptualized. There are definitely some areas more resembling of our typical Hellfire, but I wanted to keep it interesting. So I made loads of biomes, the one closest to it's overlord being of the darkmetal cyan and blue seen here.
The lord of Heldath himself, even before his redesign, had that palette.
I guess I am just obsessive. D:
On the note of those faces, gonna be getting a couple of them reposed, while I'm at it I'll ask Bella to darken the mouth color a bit.
Pic from early progress in my attempt to make a futuristic city from ff3 and ff legend 3 tiles. Looks ok, not amazing but it's growing on me.

I saw that the latest post in the screenshot topic was by a name I'd never seen before and was mentally preparing myself for giving some noob a long lecture about his giant empty rooms with impossible layouts and all kinds of problems, but uh, that city is actually great
I will say that the main green ground tiles look almost identical to the green cliff-face tiles. This creates some problems to the left of the central building. Lightening the cliff-face tiles slightly should solve that, or alternately you can just not have the two tiles ever touch each-other like that.

Here's the world map from my game:
It may look small but it contains the town area, forest area, lake area, swamp area, mountain area and the prison area(at the bottom on the mountain). And just outside the town is the snow area.

@LockeZ & Sated
Thanks both. Didn't notice how much the rocks blended. I agree the road thingies look pretty bad, lotsa tiles from from gb games just don't color right. Might still end up trying to keep them, otherwise the ground layer looks pretty empty. We'll see. Also, Sated, love those menus and love the idea of a riot grrl rpg. If my girlfriend sees my playing your game, it will be the first rpg she actually approves of.
@ExtremeDevelopment
Looks nice, small and compact but looks like there's lots to do, I like the simple, almost stylized approach.

Textures are procedural(I didn't draw that brick texture my program did and it will look different every time you start a new game)
Blocks can be placed and deleted. but that's something that I don't want to be so easy as in minecraft as I don't want to make another minecraft clone.
At the moment I can only place blocks with the brick texture
Looks cute. I'm assuming the white dude is just a placeholder?

Yep I actually made the first two non place holder sprites today finally as well since doing overworked graphics has taken away from time to really do other then main character sprites yet.

Your sprites look the right size in this screenshot! I don't think you actually changed them from before, I think the buildings are just more reasonably sized on the inside.
I've never been a fan of the Earthboundy totally-flat-colored everything with shit-tons of black outlines around every single shape, but given that you're presumably commited to the style, it looks like you're at least doing a good job with it.

I've tried to put less blacklines in my work but that doens't really work with the smaller details. Additionally since it was brought up about the placeholder sprites here are some I've been working on, as of right now I'm more focusing on at least having sprites then having every direction for them to face in.
