Just look at the beautiful RTP!

I like how it's barely any different from the VX Ace RTP.
Like, most of them are just redrawings and slight alterations to what's already there.
I don't mean to sound cynical, but this is probably a side-effect of the fact that resource packs have proven to be so successful recently. if they turn the bulk of their graphics work to discrete packs that they can sell later for an additional charge, that's a significant boost to profits. no real reason to spend too much time on the stuff that they'll be bundling with the engine, by comparison.
Perhaps I might even start liking games that use rtp

Being able to create for HTML5 wow that's really nice for shorter games and what not.

MV "Multi(ple) Version"..
And I think it will help a lot... well I know it will help me at least.
MV "Multi(ple) Version"..
author=WolfCoderYeah a bit too simple.. but at least it's there.author=MarkusTRPG Maker XP had a lot of options in its map editor, but you had to micro a lot even to make simple maps, it was tedious. I kind of understand the fully automatic approach, but the MV one looks like it will be too oversimplified.
...RMXP had/has something for this, it was called "priorities...
And I think it will help a lot... well I know it will help me at least.

Thing is, the people who made the packs aren't employees, so there's no guarantee that they'll get people who do so. Ace is the first time that commercial packs appeared and that's only because of Degica reaching out to the community and offering money for packs. Even then, the pack creators don't give up their ownership of the packs - most of them have a license that allows use outside of RM (though it costs more than the RM-only price). Add to that that they only get paid based on the amount of packs that sell, not a lump sum for doing the packs.
EB! doesn't care about providing packs for the users - the community does that with Degica's backing.
That said, I do agree that I wish they'd mixed it up a bit more when it comes to the tiles. At least the sprites look cute. (Yes, I'm a fan of the chibi style. Bite me!) Doesn't mean I won't claim the RTP as my own, though~ ;p

cool musixx
i need to be able to like posts
allllllllllllllllllllllllso i'm so eager to work with 48x48 tiles, actually cutting it half and using 24x24 tiles also provides us with a _very_ interesting aesthetic

I'm just glad javascript supports parsing JSON strings into an object. External data files in a standardized format own and I use them in my own Ace scripts all the time, fuck the notebox. Not a huge fan of javascript but I didn't care much for Ruby either.
Well, it IS called JavaScript Object Notation...

That's actually VERY off.
You don't count the console ones.
And on top of that, there are far more than 3 console RPG Makers.. especially when you look in japan.
The super Nintendo had 2 RPG Makers.
Playstation 1 had 3 as well if i'm not mistaken.
Then the 2 on the playstation 2.
It's best to ONLY count the PC installments.
And you missed one by the way.
RM 95
RM 98
RM 2000
RM 2003
RM XP
RM VX
RM VX Ace
And now RM MV.
Only 8 RPG Makers on PC.
If you count the console ones as well.. we're WAY past 10 my friend.
I can't help but laugh at Apples silly restrictions. I'm never buying their overpriced products if I can help it.
I remember that restriction when I tried some app development years ago. I just ran a Mac OS in a VM and used that because fuck buying a mac.
You only need a Mac to build a dmg if you want to use Apple's tools. But a dmg is not some proprietary Apple format, it's a very simple kind of disk image.
Don't blame Apple because someone can't figure out how to make dmg's without Apple's tools.

if I remember right, the same restrictions apply to Unreal Engine 4 -- that is, that you need to use the Apple version to build an Apple executable. so it's not that unexpected. irritating, though.
Lib, thanks for the clarification! it's easy to forget, sometimes, that the resource pack creators are mainly freelancers -- we've been getting some really high-quality stuff lately.
