You guys are awesome! Sounds like it's fun, enjoy yourselves
The meetup was Friday to Sunday, so it's already been over for a few days now. But thanks anyway! It was fun indeed.
- After a good night's sleep and a not very well-coordinated breakfast, the party reconvenes at the station. We head off into the city with the London Undergroud, which we soon discover can get pretty cramped. We've got a lot planned for today.
- The weather outside is pleasant and sunny. A perfect say for visiting museums. But first, we have to subject to the time-honoured British cliche of waiting in line. Shinan continues to complain about how it is much too hot here in the far south.
- First stop: The Natural History Museum. Dinosaurs, volcanoes, and all the other things children and adults alike find awesome as long as they don't actually have to confront them in person. We take an escalator into the Death Star, experience an earthquake simulation, speculate on the innermost thoughts and feelings of a very tired-looking T-Rex, and discover that the naming conventions of museum exhibits and RPG Maker games aren't so different after all.
- As we have something to drink at the susprisingly overpriced cafe of the museum, we discover Shinan's greatest fear, and learn how the Finnish army managed to turn everybody into pacifists by making them hate their time in the military service. Afterwards, the party is confronted with fascinating dead birds and vicious living ones, which lead to the creation of another inside joke-meme. Another RMN member makes a cameo appearance, and we learn some interesting facts about mapping.

- Yellow Magic very generously invites us all to lunch and takes us with him on a trip down Memory Lane in Nostalgia City before we tackle the Science Museum. Here, we learn about rocket science, find all kinds of steam engines that aren't called steam engines, and meet the main villain of "Crystal Ghosts," the flamethrower-wielding robot samurai Jayto Enjinn. By accident, we discover which songs infuriate the others, and Shinan briefly considers rolling down the stairs instead of going through the strenuous task of walking down.
- Now that we've received our share of education for the day, we head over to
Forbidden Planet, a large geek store that offers a range of products specifically targeted at nerds like us. NeverSilent can hardly keep his eyes off the shelf full of D&D books, and receives a warning from Yellow Magic for making fun of anime in a location crowded with anime fans. In the meantime, Shinan discovers more material on mapping, and ends up being the only one who actually buys something. (Darn, those rulebooks are expensive!)
I took this last one for Liberty specifically
- In the evening, the group has a great time at a local board gaming cafe. We kick things off with
7 Wonders: Yellow Magic ends up rolling in cash while building his monument in record time; Shinan learned from our museum trips and builds the most scientifically advanced society in ancient history; but in the end, NeverSilent unexpectedly crushes them all with his militaristic theocracy. Sounds about right... Then, we repeatedly screw ourselves over trying to woo our beloved prince in
Love Letter by constantly making stupid mistakes. And last but not least, we get creative with it in
Concept, where NeverSilent fails spectacularly in his attempt to describe the word "assassin."
- Being so preoccupied with our games, we sort of kind of forget to order something to eat in time, however. Ultimately, we still manage to get our hands on some food, and as the party splits up for the night, that's where Day 2 ends. Thus concludes the second part of RMNPax 2016.
And the birds.
