Nothing Demonlord is saying adds up. Two protectors have to target the same person together to protect them, yet he and Pianotm were both protected last night? I volunteered to be targeted by his mystery power, and if he wanted to hit someone else all he had to do was say who without saying what it did, yet he gives up and roleclaims because there's no chance of both targetting the same person? That is the most panicky, nonsensical role claim of all time.

Demonlord, my theory tried to think up a vague role claim that couldn't be verified because it required a convoluted method of being used that you couldn't control. Then I gave you a way to control it, to prove your alignment without role claiming, and your response was, "Shit, I already said there was a message when that happened. He'll know when he doesn't get a message tonight. I can't go through with it." So you changed your story and forgot that it contradicted whay you said happened last night.

Targeting you would not have proved anything since it takes two defenders for it to work, and it doesn't generate a success message either. The reason I decided to claim is that if the other defender targeted cave last night, then it would prove cave as town. It would also prove that whoever the other defender is, is town once I'm dead, and right now piano is basically confirmed as town.

How does that work? Cave hasn't claimed to have been attacked, so even if he was successfully protected why would that prove he's town? Especially given the fact we seem to have multiple killing roles?

Well there was no nightkill, and if the other defender came forth, and there was a nightkill tonight, we could probably safely say that cave was tageted night 1 and protected.
As for piano, I confirmed our flavor and confirmations were similiar sure, but we don't actually know what protected us. The fact I knew it couldn't have been my defender role is where my theory came from too, and at the time I was keeping it hidden.

Cave would not have been notified if he was successfully protected, but if the other protector targeted him too, then it would explain the lack of a nightkill. It's an annoying power to use, and it is one of the reasons I decided to just reveal it.

We know we got targeted by something, and that it generated a message that someone tried to kill us, but we do not know if it was an actual nightkill ability or something else entirely.

We don't know that cave got attacked, but I figured there was a slight chance that the other defender targeted the same person as me.

I believe demonlord's claim, because I know for a fact that there's roles in this game that require multiple people to target the same person for the effect to work.
I am a gunman like Gourd. I assume we were partners and my power is now useless, though our number was never specified so there may be more of us. Our power is that if two of us target the same player, we nightkill them. Last night I targeted demon. This is why he got a message that he was attacked, and also why he didn't die. Nobody else must have tried to kill him last night, which led to the kill failing. He doesn't need to have been protected.
This is why I've been saying that multiple people being targeted isn't alignment-indicative. I knew for a fact that demon has been targeted by town. It's also why I'm pretty convinced Piano is town, since nobody else has come forward that they were targeted last night, so he was probably the target of the scumkill.

Simplification: "I could target you and use my power, but even if it worked, it's so cockamamie, nobody would ever know!"
