There's a lot of obscure fairy tales on this list actually: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fairy_tales

Be funny to do one no one's heard of and you'd just be making a seemingly original game at this point.

Randomly chose The Carl of the Drab Coat

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_Fairy_Tales#The_Carl_of_the_Drab_Coat

sounds pretty awesome.

COME ON FAIRY TALES

GO GO GO

DONT LET LITTLE NIGHTMARES WIN

(but honestly I'm fine as long as revive the dead, meat puzzle or dark indulgence don't win)
Host Reviver too frequently and we'll all run out of dead projects :O

I've voted for Dark Indulgence.

I could also have voted for the Little Nightmares theme.

ha! not likely.
pickt Blacktober because it seems like an interesting challenge, but Little Nightmares could be a really cool idea assuming you fools have enough nightmares to fuel my fear engine (i can almost NEVER remember my dreams) and honestly Dark Indulgence might result in the best & most games due to its openness
I picked Dark Indulgence because I'd think it would be pretty interesting
on scary dark ideas in horror, but I'm pretty cool with Fairy Tales, Dark Indulgence, Revive The Dead, Beaten Horse or Little Nightmares.
I can't wait for October!

You underestimate this community!
If I take part in enough revival events I might actually finish a project!

I still feel RM horror game'd out from the last time I judged the halloween contest with StarSkipper. I'd prefer to revive a project. Don't suppose we could have a choice of making a game based on the winner (probably fairy tale) or reviving a game?

What a twist ending.

Here's a method for randomization:

ctrl a + ctrl c this https://rpgmaker.net/media/content/users/204/locker/method.txt

paste it in here to shuffle https://www.random.org/lists/

It's horridly pasted from the wikipedia source so there might be weird formating.

I suppose I had the assumption that there was to be a "revive the dead" event this October to help kick-start some more development for the project formerly known as SuikoProject Baclyae Revolution. I was also teetering on not being able to submit anything for Swap 2, so, that might have been an alternative to Baclyae.

Mixing up fairy tales, inserting dark/horror undertones, doesn't seem like a bad idea, though.
To be fair, we can always have another Release Something near the start of the year. Rename it Finish Something. XD
Release Something! Finish Something! sound so demanding
We should have a day-length Do Something event sometime.

Stop making me want to do a Suikoden Fangame.

Thanks,

Kinda sad that folks here need an event to finish things, instead of just finishing things because they want to :V

But, but, the additional Makerscore from "revive" events!? It's like killing two birds with one stone!

*Edit: Now I'm recalling the Anti-Procrastination event that NeverSilent ran. That was a pretty cool rendition of "Release Something".
I do notice a huge game jam/event culture within itch where there's 20 gamejams happening at any given moment. I've personally finished 3 games in a row hopping from one jam to the next consecutively and there is a sort of rush to it. But alas, you don't ever really feel proud of what you've accomplished (for me anyway). And it becomes a struggle where you feel like you can't have a deadline without some sort of self inflicted pressure. Even the very notion of an event where you just make a game that isn't a "serious" project is I think some desperate need for artificial limiters.

This is the sort of stuff that has plagued my entire creative life. Should have gotten into 4 panel webcomics instead.
This is why I sign up for events so I can procrastinate on them by working on Legion Saga DX. That way I feel accomplishment and failure at the same time. I am a mind wizard, Harry.
