IDIOTS IN IVALICE: A "ROLL TO DODGE" RP
Posts
(I'd say you can both use the Phoenix Down and make your way down the mausoleum walls as a full action, yes)
Vivian and Ace approach Arte as well to try and fend off his assailants before they get a taste of his Bangaa brain.
Vivian aims and shoots at the Zombie Viera.

(I hope you weren't waiting for me. I should probably have made clearer that I will go ahead with my declared action, even if it takes a full action, which I think is very fair.)

It's not you. I understood your action perfectly fine. Will continue the battle with the next round a bit later tonight.
Ally Rolls -- Anno: 4, Vivian: 3, Niviea: 3, Geralt: 4
Enemy Rolls -- Zombie Hume: n/a, Zombie Viera: 3, Zombie Moogle: 4
Taking aim and commanding the now-nervous Ace to advance forth, Vivian opens fire on the undead Viera before her. Though the bolt hits hard in the zombie's back, the rotting bunny-girl is too focused on trying to tear into the downed Arte to focus her attention on Vivian. At the least, it did seem to do some damage to the walking dead's anatomy. (1 dmg: Zombie Viera)
Following up Vivian's attack with her own projectile from the roof, Niviea looses an arrow and manages to embed its point deep into the undead Viera's shoulder. Still the monster continues her hungering advances toward the knight, but is starting to show signs of fatigue. (1 dmg: Zombie Viera)
Dashing down the slope to protect his master, Geralt lunges forth in a heavy kick toward the zombie Viera. The blow cracks calcified bones within the sluggish flesh of his enemy, and finally the zombie has realized she's been hurt enough to take her attention off of Arte. (1 dmg: Zombie Viera)
Unfortunately, it also seems as if the other zombies have taken notice of those interrupting their feast. The zombie Hume groans out in annoyance, feebly reaching for the quarrel lodged in his brain. Failing to pluck it out, the brain-eater shambles, albeit weakened, back toward Arte...
...but by this time, Anno has managed to carefully but quickly slip down the wall of the mausoleum. Slipping past the fallen Viera and Hume, he administers his pouch of Phoenix Down to Arte's wounds, reinvigorating the knocked-out knight and curing the injuries dealt to a fair degree. Coughing, Ser Arte fumbles about to try and reclaim his spear, which had fallen out of his grip after sticking his last assailant. (+2 HP: Ser Arte)
Though most zombies lack any sort of intellect, it seems the zombie Viera is an exception to the rule. Realizing even vaguely that she's in danger, she advances upon the living Moogle that caused her prey to start staggering back up. The tall monster has difficulty retaliating against Anno, and cannot find purchase against his armor. (roll of 3 becomes 2, no dmg to Anno)
Lastly the zombie Moogle, just now recovering from getting kicked like a ball across the dried-out battlefield, continues to shamble in an almost hopping manner toward Vivian. With his tiny mouth the being chomps Ace with gross teeth, barely able to pierce the tough talons and frightening the Chocobo. If not calmed through a handling roll, Ace might begin to panic if hit again.
At the end of the round, Geralt is able to shove past the pair of zombies and helps Arte upon his back; Arte and Geralt are once again considered a single Guest member.

"I've got a snack for you! EAT ARROW!" I launch another volley at the Zombie Viera.
"It's over Zombakin! I have the high ground!
"It's over Zombakin! I have the high ground!
Vivian has no time to feel relieved about Ser Arte's condition, unnerved by Ace's restless behavior.
"Whoa! Ace, boy, don't let me fall off your back now!"
Vivian tries to steady and calm her chocobo.

Vivian tries to steady and calm her chocobo.
"Bleeeh!" I stick out my tongue at the zombie Viera as she fails to hurt me.
I don't want Ser Arte to become the undead's favourite punching bag again, so I have to keep them focused on me instead. It'll take some drastic measures to make them sufficiently mad at me, though. So I light one of my torches and shove it down the zombie Hume's throat as soon as he opens his mouth to bite at anyone.
"Don't forget to brush and floss afterwards, Kupo-po!"
I'm not sure if zombies can even get annoyed by corny one-liners, but it's always worth a shot.

Ally Rolls -- Anno: 2, Vivian: 4, Niviea: 1, Arte: 2
Enemy Rolls -- Hume: 5, Viera: 1, Moogle: 3
Readying himself to fight against the zombies once more, Arte prepares Geralt for a jousting attack. Unfortunately he miscalculates the run mid-stride upon his Chocobo and realizes he'll crash into Vivian at the end of the dash. As such he winds up missing the initial strike against the zombie Viera, swerving his bird's reins to the point where even Geralt can't strike the intended target successfully.
The undead Viera, realizing she's been missed, thus starts to advance upon Arte. But as she steps forth with her long legs, the strikes against her have taken their toll. Exerting an extra-fast hobble to try and reach her original victim in time, formaldehyde only dribbles out of her swifter and swifter, and eventually the damage and effort is too much for her. The negative energy keeping her alive run out as Mist pours from her body and she collapses in a rather unceremonious return to death. (1 dmg and KO: Zombie Viera)
With the demise of the undead Viera heading toward Arte and Geralt (and by proxy Vivian and Ace), Ace begins to calm down with Vivian's commands. Able to gather enough distance from the miniature fiend attacking his ankles, Ace is able to pull it together under his renter's will. The Chocobo isn't necessarily willing to return to the battle scene, but isn't actively trying to flee and is moving steady enough to open fire without the bolt getting wobbled off target.
Realizing his original victim is now too far to attack, the fallen Moogle instead turns his sights on the closer Geralt. Flopping forth and chomping onto Geralt's ankles, he latches on tight and gnaws hard, making even the battle-seasoned bird-mount flail in an effort to make the pain stop. On the next turn, Arte will have to focus on getting the zombie Moogle off of his steed and cannot assist otherwise.
Niviea leans a bit too close to get a good shot with the sharp angle of the mausoleum's roof. Seeing her intended target drop, she sets her sights on the dead Hume due to the other zombie being a small target and not wanting to risk shooting Geralt or Ser Arte. One mistaken crawl forth is too much for the weakened roof shingles, and the mausoleum's ceiling caves in! Barely able to avoid falling into the crypt, Niviea inadvertently drops her bow to catch the lip of the opening and avoids a drop. Her bow and nocked arrow clinking into the room beneath her, Niviea cannot use her bow this fight unless she retrieves it. Luckily, there are still loose bricks and shingles in a small pile that can be hurled instead...
For whatever reason, the zombie Hume has been hesitating up until this point, with the revived Arte whizzing past the baffled brain-eater and Anno being the only target left in the vicinity. Dropping to all fours to try and chomp on the living Moogle, he's soon met with Anno's lit torch. Seemingly fazed by the heat and light of the burning stick, Anno's lunge to force-feed the monster the torch misses as the undead pulls back.
With the torch flowing past his noggin, the zombie Hume groans in aggravation, instead swinging his hand forth and catching Anno on the head with grisly, dirty fingernails. His pom-pom batted away and forehead scraped, Anno is at least reassured that his next strike won't miss from the enemy's position and closeness... hopefully. (1 dmg: Anno)

If I drop down to get my bow and arrow, will it be possible for me to return to the roof from that point and if not, will I still be able to attack the zombies from my new position?
(Hmm. I'm basically gonna handle it like D&D where you get one movement and action, or two movements, per turn. So you could drop down and climb back up as one turn, or drop down and fire as a turn IMO)
"Phew... Good boy." says Vivian as she pats Ace's feathery nape.
She turns her head towards the ongoing battle, quickly assessing the situation.
"Anno might be in trouble against that filthy corpse..."
Vivian aims and shoots at the Zombie Hume.

"Owie! Yuck, gross, gross, gross." I mumble to myself as I wipe the blood and zombie goop off my forehead.
But at least this zombie is now leaving Artie alone, so that's got to count for something. So I shout towards my companions:
"I'm okay, don't worry, Kupo!"
These zombies are really making life difficult for my friends' mounts. That gives me an idea, though: I can play this game, too! Since the zombie Hume is now down on all fours, I attempt to climb onto its back, drop my torch, and pull my rope around its neck, in order to choke it and / or steer it to a more disadvantageous position.
"Bad zombie! Bad! Down, Kupo!"

Ally Rolls -- Anno: 5, Vivian: 6, Niviea: 4, Arte: n/a
Enemy Rolls -- Hume: 3, Moogle: 3
As Anno goes to scamper up onto the Hume zombie, the dead-head goes to make one more attack before he's climbed upon. A swat with his left arm smacks into Anno's exposed noggin once more, but the Green Mage isn't too worse for wear despite it all. (1 dmg: Anno)
Annoyed himself, Anno goes to work with his rough hempen rope, tying it about the fallen Hume and yanking hard. The initial brush of the rope harshly bites into the zombie's vulnerable throat-meats, and a faint cracking can be heard as the monster groans out, unable to reach behind himself to get the Moogle off. (2 dmg: Zombie Hume)
From her vantage point within the mausoleum, Niviea is able to peek out and get a clear shot at the zombie Moogle. Just as Geralt is able to sweep its leg hard enough to get the monster to fly off, Niviea leads her arrow and pelts the nasty critter in the chest, making for a dynamic-looking shot that the rotter's sure to feel the effects of. (1 dmg: Zombie Moogle)
Vivian, chasing her Miqo'te pal's shot with her own, closes in a bit and shoots into the zombie Hume. The bolt flies, piercing the dead Hume in a rather embarrassing spot on his hunched-over body. The monster yowling as his rear is jabbed into, his back bucks and the armored Moogle upon it flies off, tumbling to the ground. Though only the wind was knocked out of him, his advantageous position is now no more. (1 dmg: Zombie Hume)
...which leads us back to the undead Moogle. Spying his target once more as she reloads, the little bastard hobble-hops toward Vivian and, with a leap that could rival a Dragoon, delivers a painful rake to her long legs at the sides of Ace's body with nasty nails previously unseen under fetid fuzz. (1 dmg: Vivian)
Finally able to recompose himself with the zombie Moogle off his ankles, Geralt (and by proxy Arte) is no longer distracted.

"Gyaah! You little... rotten... unnatural BLIGHT!"
Vivian reacts on instinct, kicking the Zombie Moogle to get him off her.
Vivian reacts on instinct, kicking the Zombie Moogle to get him off her.
As I scramble back to my feet, I get ready to finish this big meanie zombie Hume off, when I hear Vivi scream. So instead, I just point at the Hume and say: "You stay there, I'm not finished with you yet, Kupo-po!"
I then turn around and, now ignoring the zombie Hume right next to me, pick up my (hopefully still burning) torch off the ground and hurl it at the zombie Moogle.
"Hey, stop making my friend upset! Why don't you pick on someone your own size, Kupo?!"

Ally Rolls -- Anno: 2, Vivian: 5, Niviea: 2, Arte: 2
Enemy Rolls -- Hume: 5, Moogle: 6
Landing from his leap and whirling about at the other Moogle's voice, the undead one stares at Anno briefly, offering up a gurgling, labored bastardization of a "kupo" before shambling swiftly to meet the other. Drawn in by the shed blood and zombie slime from Anno's prior beating, the undead Moogle lunges close enough to also scratch at the living one. Anno's unprotected hand is gashed with the grisly l'il nails, but in retaliation he's able to instead jam the torch into the zombie's mouth as the fiend prepares for a bite, searing mouth and throat alike. (1 dmg: Anno and Zombie Moogle)
Vivian, now freed up with her adversary being distracted and turning elsewhere, immediately takes aim and fires her newly-spanned crossbow at the rotting foe. This time the bolt pegs it through its back, with the tip poking harmlessly into the plate of Anno's armor. (1 dmg and KO: Zombie Moogle)
With only the Hume zombie remaining, the remaining fighters all focus their attention on him. Arte's senseless scramble on Geralt misses with another miscalculated thrust, and the flash of yellow past the zombie makes it difficult for Niviea to shoot in time. Just barely do the White Mage's fingers release in time to avoid pegging Geralt's tail feathers, but also missing the monster in the process.
Somehow, the remaining zombie is able to stagger itself upward and back up onto its feet. Behind Niviea from deeper in the crypt, the sound of boots slowly clamping their way up stairs at the back of the mausoleum ring outward. With the terrible stench of zombie getting closer, Niviea has little time to react before the zombie, eyes now aglow with a brilliant violet, rushes toward her in a very lively dash. As she tries to gather what little distance she has the zombie, now seeping Mist, suddenly explodes in a bright burst of searing heat! Blazing chunks burn away to cinders and ashes mid-flight, with the Miqo'te just barely able to duck for cover in time to evade the worst of the blaze. (1 dmg: Niviea; KO: Zombie Hume)
Victory...?
With Niviea recovering from the sudden blast, she's finally able to whirl about and see whoever was climbing the staircase. Behind her, a Nu Mou wearing typical Arcanist garb and a bone-white mask over the left half of his face stares at her.
And he's not alone. Silently padding up the stairs, a familiar face with a much darker countenance than her usual cheery one appears behind him. And her eyes, not unlike the zombie's before its detonation, are also obscured with a violet radiance. The lioness cracks her knuckles in a very uncharacteristic fashion...
"...I wondered when you lot would show up", the Arcanist speaks grimly from behind his vizard. "This one spoke rather fondly of her Clan... originally. Would you not agree that babysitting nobodies is beyond you now, Janna?"
