CHRONO TRIGGER DS

I more I think about CTDS, the more I feel disappointed that they didn't do more with it. It just had such amazing potential. They could've planned to rerelease Chrono Cross and totally rework both stories to have a little bit more in common (and taken out a lot of characters from Cross). They could've added a hidden time period, and more dungeons that didn't feel like after thoughts. They could've went more into the whole concepts around Lavos and the time gates and all that.
It was good and fun, and the dimensional vortex was made well enough, but it just means there's no real chance of a good remake anymore, because we have this semi-decent one.
I don't know man. Might I direct you to Final Fantasy IV? I think that the full 3D remake came out just a few years after the GBA reboot.
After playing the DS version for a fortnight, I'm actually liking how they kept pretty much everything the same. As for connections with Chrono Cross, I'm glad they were kept to a minimum because frankly I hated the game.
EDIT: 3 endings down, 10 to go

After beating the game I can honestly say I hate this port. Or, to be more specific, the additional content, which is so utterly and absolutely worthless it seems to had been made by an RM noob.
I wasted about 20 hours on this crap. I had beaten CT numerous times in the past and so the normal game was more of a chore (there just isn't enough cutomization in this game to warrant more than one playthrough, unless you want New Game+ endings), but had to get through it to get to the meat of the port. The bonus dungeons.
At this point I guess everyone is familiar with the disaster that is Lost Sanctum, but I have to say Dimensional Vortex wasn't much better. Just shorter and not as frustrating as LS, but still a giant waste of time. The new ending is laughable, the new equipment not really that useful (a bit stronger than the original ultimate items), mostly because all enemies are pathetically weak (mind you, I didn't do any grinding in this game) and weapons with critical OVER 9000! don't matter in a game where you don't use the attack command that often. Bosses are a joke, there's no challenge in the bonus areas, unless you consider scaling that f*****g mountain over and over and over and over again a challenge.
My opinion? If you played the original CT, don't bother with this port, and even if you do, forget about LSsanctum and DVortex.
Thanks to this port, I will never evern again touch CT. And I mean it.

That doesn't even make any sense, man. The port in no way takes away from the experience of the original game.
It does, and I elaborated on it in my previous post. Did you even read it?
The port itself is perfect. If you haven't played CT, or it was a long time ago and you want to do it again, then it's a perfect opportunity to do so. Just skip bonus areas, because they're completely not worth it and may take away from the experience.
But if you're like me and have beaten CT several times and know the game inside out, and want to play CT DS for the new content alone, then don't bother, because it sucks big time. What's more, those two abominations called Lost Sanctum and Dimensional Vortex made me begin to hate CT as a whole for some reason. Now every time I think of CT I recall these two dungeons, regardless of which version of CT I have in mind.

No, it doesn't take away from the original game. And yes I read the post. I mean no disrespect, if you don't like the new stuff added, that's fine! Nobody will take that against you. However, it doesn't take away from the original game because it's all optional, man. I've played CT like a million times and from beginning to end it's the same game unless I wanted to partake in the extra stuff. Don't want to? Then don't. But no matter how bad the added stuff is, it doesn't take away from the default CT experience.

Like it or not, CC is Chrono canon, and I think it's better for Square to clear up everything they can to fix the mess of a connection there was originally than to ignore it.

The Lost Sanctum is terrible, I'm so glad I didn't buy this port. I'm not even gonna play this and I love CT.
If you've never played CT get it. If not, it's not worth it. So basically what DE said.
It's so disappointing, they could have done much better.

I skipped the Lost Sanctum and did the Dimensional Vortex and I'm not doing too bad.
The intense dislike is unfounded. Disappointment I can understand.

This is what happens when a company has 25 games their working on at once. :(
They could have at least done a decent job like they did with Star Ocean and FFIV.

I think I found the problem :P
Yeah, I think I'm just gonna skip Lost Sanctum too. Just because its there doesn't mean you have to go! Especially considering everyone's apparently getting traumatized by it.

Yeah i agree with you there. They should cut down on the amount of games there making at once. I still like what they produce though.
Hehe since i'm an rpgfreak I bought it. And since It's because of Chrono Trigger i became like this I already have every thirteen endings XD I I realised i knew the game by heart. (Finishing it 10 times on the SNES must have helped out XD )
It's better than the PS1 version since there's no big loading time ! Plus the 2 new dungeons add a bit of life time to it ! the only thing I hate is you must almost get at the end of a new game+ to have access to the second new dungeon -_- And the new secrets boss are too easy too =/ but beside that I liked how it answered one of the many questions on the serie. Who was that "outside time" help porre had when they rebelled against guardia in 1005 A.D XD

DE: Why are you so mad? Like there is extra content that sucked and you forced your way through it and now you hate video games? It doesn't make much sense man and I might have to say that you've done it to yourself :(
Dude, did you seriously just use the word "fortnight" 8)

At least Omega Flare is still absurdly overpowered!
I have to see how bad this new content is with my own eyes.

No matter how good of a port this is, I will stubbornly stand by the fact that the SNES version was superior.
Geez, this won't arrive Europe 'till Jan 6th. Stop talking about this untill then, it's tempting. :(
Never completed the game or got even as far as to have Magus. I got stuck in some cloudcity because couldn't find where to go next. Though that was a long time ago.

Wow, I thought that Lost Sanctum thing was an exaggeration. I just saw the movie, and I cannot believe someone made a dungeon that bad. With one exception of an RM NOOB who made billions of dead-ends in a dungeon with random encounters, I've never seen them make a dungeon this bad. I think they probably purposefully did it just to annoy people, because I can't see how anyone could think that is a good idea.
Well, I was already fixed on not getting this, and I'll just go play the SNES version if I want more CT.

I've yet to really get anywhere. I'm on my way to the prehistoric era to find the old man a piece of that 'dere stone he be wishin' to see. I thought that the trip to Magus' Castle was before then, but I guess I was wrong! But I didn't recall him being so late in the game.
My party consists of Robo, Crono and Lucca. I used Marle all the may through on the PSX version, so I thought I would change it up a bit.
