WHAT VIDEOGAMES ARE YOU PLAYING RIGHT NOW?

author=geodudeauthor=SmileWithStylecan't remember which of the awful localisations this is
EDIT: FF 6 made me chuckle.....
Cayene: That current is quite fast, sir.
Mash: No shit.
Hmm, on the rom screen at the start it says "Translated by Skyrender" and that it is "RPGOne" version....
Its not that bad though, only sometimes it gets strange, but overall its good and fitting. Though Im sure there are better. This one translates that main "bastard" as Cefca, and I usually see him refered to as Kefka.
Finished the Opera House today in FF6, great experience, even though the "singing" is voiceless (I know, snes limitations, it definitely was something in its era). Damn squid had to mess it up....
EDIT: though I dont understand some people claiming : "This scene brought tears in my eyes"
Also I decided I will give FF 13 another try, had to reorder it, cause I sold my copy some time ago. Was watching some random video of it, and then the battle theme came up, and I remembered what I liked about the game, and I felt the urge to give it another chance. I wonder what FF Versus 13 will be like...
Playing Ace Combat 6, absolutely loving it at the moment, even if getting used to flying the planes is difficult as hell. I like how the missions remind me of Koei's Warriors games, in that they're huge with your choice on which way to complete objectives.
On the lines of Koei, I'm playing Bladestorm aswell, seeing as it came through the post today.

I am pretending to play Devil Survivor (on the last day; Gin route) and Dragon Age (25+ hours in) but really I am playing playing ~20-30 minutes/day of Etrian Odyssey 3 because of these annoying things called "friends" and "a roommate I actually like."
I've also been playing/recording Ill Will for testing purposes, which is promising to produce <Neok here>.

SMAAAASH!!!
Just finished Kingdom Hearts II.
Short summary, I liked it, and appreciate what they changed about the battle system, but I think Kingdom Hearts was the overall better game. Still enjoyed it.
My beef wih this game is that that plot was staved off until about the end of the game. You literally don't learn anything until the last world. They pretty much use the same excuse for wandering from world to world in this game as they do in the last game - but for some reason, this time it comes off as disengenuous. In the first, you were looking for kairi, and this time you're looking for Riku. The difference here is that Riku is avoiding you on purpose so he can give you vague clues about what to do next.
Spoilers for people who don't plan on playing the game, pretty much the whole game's plot is just talking about stuff that happened while you were asleep.
before game:
Xehanort's heartless was pretending to be ansem's heartless last game. His nobody is the leader of organization 13, pretending to be ansem's nobody xemnas.
The real ansem (DiZ) wants revenge against xehanort, so he needs sora to do it and helps namine in restorying him.
Diz sends riku to get roxas back for this purpose, and riku has to give into his darkness to get him, thus making him look like xehanort's heartless. Diz feels bad for hurting others with his revenge, has a change of heart.
actual game:
Roxas is placed into a lotus eater machine for a few days to distract him and keep him safe while they integrate him back into sora, and he does with much angsting.
Organization 13 antagonizes sora into defeating as many heartless as possible, so they can build kingdom hearts of something. Step 3: profit?
Sora kills all the members during this time, taking up 95% of the game.
Eventually Sora finds riku and kairi in the last world. all the stuff before the game is explained in 5 minutes.
Diz does soemthing, it turns riku back to normal.
Xehanort's nobody absorbs the power of kingdom hearts: cue longest final boss ever.
Seriously though, that last boss fight was so goddamned long, they put two minigames in between forms.
First you fight with just sora, then you do a few minigames, then you fight with sora and friends, cue ending 1, then do second minigame, fight with sora and riku, then fight with sora and riku + 1 really hard mid boss fight quicktime thing you WILL fail at the first time and have to restart + then 10 000 lasers make you button mash, cue ending 2.
I mean, I liked the game, but after this I'm going to avoid Re:coded and 358/2 days. I just don't need to visit the same damn worlds again for 50 hours to find the answer to something as complicated as a 5 minute explanation.
EDIT: One thing I will say - The gullwing fairies are... so... adorable...

Probably because you didn't play the original, Woolsey-ized translation, and you didn't play it when it was new. I find that fan retranslations of games already released tend to pale in comparison to the actual translation, and FF6 is one of the main games that solidified this opinion.
When FF6 was new it was actually a pretty cutting-edge game/storyline, so a lot of people experienced it for the first time. Nowadays, somebody playing FF6 for the first time might indeed miss what made the opera scene or in fact the entire game so emotionally impactful due to the leaps and bounds graphics and storytelling have made since the SNES era.
NOW GET OFF MY LAWN YOU LITTLE SHIT *shakes walker*... err. Sorry, rant over.
I'm playing Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and Genji: Days of the Blade. Attempting to complete 'em and a few other games before Dragon Age 2 releases. I have a big backlog that needs finishing.
Why did it take me four years to learn about Shin Megami Tensei Online, Me and my Gram are Bros for life

Because there is not one shooting game on the PS1 (That doesn't involve walking) That is as good as this. or as painfully challenging later near the end.
It just had cool music, addictive gameplay and great boss fights. I honestly am sad more games like this are not made. Rez is kinda close and kickass in its own way.

IT'S TAIL TIME! Ahh, a fun friendly game that never was seen again in all its glory after the PS1. With great gameplay, control, one of the best soundtracks, and a spooky mansion to scare the kids.
Mass Effect 2 for PS3. I got it yesterday, and it finally finished downloading today. (Got it on PSN). Also, White Knight Chronicles.
