WHAT VIDEOGAMES ARE YOU PLAYING RIGHT NOW?

Posts

After starting a New Game+, I have to make an amendment to my previous assessment of Arkham City.

It still feels a little rushed to me, and some of the contrivances in place to get all the plot elements neatly walled up in this one section of Gotham almost get a little eye-rolling at times, but it is a very fun game.

Playing without the counter indicators turned on actually makes combat a lot more fun and engaging. Instead of feeling like random QTE events, countering now requires actually paying attention to things going on around you.

My main gripe is still the lack of an indicator for what enemy I'm actually targeting my next attack at. Some of the sections where there are three types of enemies you can't directly attack clustered in with twenty other guys are really frustrating. I have a 60+ combo going and I tilt my stick toward the one guy left near me I can actually hit normally, only to see Batman try to punch a shield guy to his right and break the streak. If they don't mind hazing Riddler's henchmen green in the HUD, why can't they give some sort of shimmer or outline to show where you are actually going to attack next!?

Also, not fond of the new HUD. It looks like a battery indicator.

Just finished playing through FFX (completely legit this time, unlike my 100+ hour file from 2004 that I just deleted as I couldn't even bring myself to look at it anymore), and damn that motherfuck Braska's Final Aeon... Seymour Omnis, too.

According to the strategy on FinalFantasyWikia, just summoning Anima and using her Overdrive once will kill Seymour Omnis. Apparently not with my stats, as the boss has exactly 80k HP and Oblivion dealt somewhere around 12k. Had it not been for the Magus Sisters, I would have surely lost against both Seymour and Braska's Final Aeon for a fourth time after getting extremely close the first time on the latter by double-casting Ultima with Yuna for about 11k damage per hit after using Auron's Mental Break and feeling like "Hey, I could easily kill him next time. :D"

Welp...

Not to mention, going back to my stats, getting Tidus' Caladbolg powered all the way (fuck Chocobos) did me absolutely no good as I was still doing piss poor damage and I wasn't prepared to grind for another 10+ hours or so to complete half the grid just to be able to hit over 9999 damage and 9999 HP. Auron's Masamune didn't do much either, so my only worthwhile Celestial Weapon was Yuna's Nirvana as it allowed me to cast anything for 1 MP.

Though I have to imagine that all this went towards feeling damn good about beating the game as maxing out my sphere grid to be able to do 99999 damage per hit would have killed any sense of satisfaction of watching the game's final threat fall.

So now I'm thinking about either going back to start a new, legit file on FFVIII as I've only ever reached disc 2 even with cheating, or make a FFVII file without using real world friend's names for the characters and come up with something I can feel proud of. Most likely the former as I've already beaten the other, but only when I feel that I'm done doing what I want to do on FFX, which is pretty much just capturing monsters for the Monster Arena in the Calm Lands.
Ahh ffx...the last ff ever made that I could actually get into. In a way, me and corfaisus are doing something similiar. I've been replaying chrono trigger for the ds because of the arena of ages feature (which is not what I expected...in fact i'm a little disappointed), and the new dimensional vortex in which to unlock the new ending. I've been tinkering with the arena of ages...hoping it will yield more satisfaction...but, doesn't look like that will happen.

I'm currently aiming to test my skills (I plan to beat the god of wars masamune form at lvl 50, rather than 98). If that proves to be too easy once I hit 50, I'll just give myself limitations. I'm just not satisfied if I can't absolutely crush a supposed superboss. I've just been training up my skills while waiting on that annoying 10 mins per training monster limitation. In fact I wish they used a completely different system..cause my monster has maxed strength after like 10 sessions..if even that.

I don't think I'll be able to play skyrim tonight, maybe tomorrow afternoon sometime.

8 hours until skyrim finishes.
Sonic Generations when modern Sonic isn't wigging out and constantly cartwheeling to the left. I beat the main game so I'm working on collectables and S ranks 'n shit which is still pretty fun. Music is great, levels look fantastic, camera can zoom in too much at times, final boss is a mess. All in all a good Sonic game (coming from somebody who enjoyed Sonic 2006).

Hoping for another patch soon to fix the cartwheel bug. It's a good PC port all things considered, although for some the game crashes when on online mode and I have some minor issues with graphics disappearing on the third boss fight. The shop menu used to run very poorly too but that got patched recently. Looks sharp, runs great, and it supports 90% of my gamepad (Hats don't). 360 or PS3 is probably better but I don't care.
Skyrim PC Finished one character moving to the next.

Dark Souls Xbox360

Monster Hunter Tri Wii

Gods Eater Burst PSP Now I'm on the second main story line after 65 hours I'm 20 hours away from beating it.
Tried playing Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth on PS1, but I wasn't very successful, that game is too brain consuming for me to dedicate to playing. >_<;

Skyward Sword.

I'd be willing to bet it eats Skyrim for dinner.
I just finished FF5 for the second time ever, and it's not nearly as epic as I once remembered it. It has too many joking moments, and too many emo-tional moments, for me to see it in the same light... But Oh well! I still love the job system and the idea of splitted worlds, though.

Now I'm playing FF6 for like the 100th time and I'm still loving every minute of it... =)
