WHAT VIDEOGAMES ARE YOU PLAYING RIGHT NOW?

Posts

I recently bought a PSP (I'm late to the party, I've always been playing exclusively on Nintendo consoles up 'till now..) so I've been working on FFT: War of the Lions and a lot of games that I bought off of PSN including Tomb Raider 1, FF IX, and Vagrant Story (I'm really liking this one). I'm also working on Bravely Default and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn.

I started a bunch of games throughout the past few months, but I've decided to focus on the games listed above (it'd be a hassle to list them all...aha). ;;
*sigh* Lightning Returns, and I hate the combat at times. Fights are either way too easy (Hold the attack button, two seconds later, dead mob) or over the top hard (using the quickest way to bring the enemy down with the schemata I'm equipped with, ten minute later I get a dead mob)- within the same spawn area. I'm not sure if I'm just missing something or what.

I just finished Proffessor Layton and the Azran Legacy. Pretty good up until the last bit. By god, they had a raging hard on for Castle in the Sky. There's a distinct difference in being inspired by something/ paying homage and just using someone elses idea.

By the end I was practically yelling "OH COME ON" at the 2DS.
Since Dark Souls 2 is coming out on PC soon I figured it was about time to catch up and beat... Demon's Souls. Having left off beating 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, and halfway through 3-1 with a Royal because starting off with Soul Ray or whatever helps a ton. I meandered about in 3-1 and 5-1, got the Blessed Mace + 1, but just couldn't make enough progress in either. Then I tried 4-1 and the rolling skeletons spilled all the souls and the adjudicator's shield for more passive healing helped a ton. I tried 2-2 and finished it in two tries and got access to a world boss that was more of an awkward puzzle than anything. Beat it and got some Monster Hunter style weapon. Between 2h-ing it, the Blessed Mace w/ Adjucdicator's Shield, and shooting my starter spell (sometimes swapped out with Fire Ball) at bad dudes I cleaned out 3-1, 4-1, and 5-1. 5-2 blew chunks (fuck the slow moving swamp, poison I can deal with but not the movement penalty) though so I did 1-3 with little issue (the big sword doesn't work in narrow corridors, oops!).

Then I found 4-2, the greatest grinding spot. There's a big bad reaper dude early on that just pukes souls as long as you don't let him two-shot you. Many souls were had but the rest of the level was pretty rough due to long range attacks from assholes I couldn't hit. So I went and cleared out 3-2 and 3-3 because the giant sword wrecks gargoyles and I did the wimp with magic approach to the mindflayers (fuck mindflayers). Both bosses were completely pushovers, the manticore from 3-2 would stun itself and it would pay with a 2h power swing and the phantom of 3-3 was... just a regular ol' phantom. The phantom in 5-2 was harder. Eventually I discovered the glory of the thief ring to reduce enemy aggro distance and that made 4-2 a snap. The boss' gimmick was easy and he fell in no time. The end boss of 4-3 was even easier, I found the super sword, hid behind the house, and attacked whatever flew by.

1-4 and 5-2 were all that were left. I started with 1-4 (fuck that swamp), beat up the phantom trio one by one, killed the dragon with a bajillion arrows and Briorr's help, defeated another tough black phantom, and got wrecked by the world boss. Like I barely did a thing to him. So I figured I'd try 5-2 and still fuck that stage, it's probably the hardest in the game barring growing pains with 3-1. Managed to beat it, the boss went down like a chump, and the world boss there was... just another dude that a few 2h swings took down. Still need to clear the boss of world 1 but I think I can nail it down.

Still, I hope Dark Souls is way better than Demon's Souls. Demon's just feels... mediocre.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

People with a 3DS need to add me. So you can help me farm pumpkins or whatever the hell in my town in Bravely Default.

I played both, and Dark Souls was leaps and bounds better (for me). Connected, cohesive world (not the central hub+stages from DeS), and major improvements all over, plus, no FUCKING SWAMP.... well, there is one, and it is also pretty bad, but nowhere near as bad as the Valley of Defilement, and after playing through DS, it actually grew on me and is now one of my favourite areas.

However, there is one thing that totally pisses me off in DS. Two words - Capra. Demon. You will know what I mean when you get there.

Anyways, I started playing Dark Souls 2 yesterday, and it feels just RIGHT. I am kinda disappointed about how they advertised the game's graphics right up to release, and then, when you start it, the game looks COMPLETELY different than those awesome screens/gameplay videos that From were showing us. Don't get me wrong, the game looks fine (great even, in some areas so far), and I will take gameplay over pretty graphics any time of the day, especially in a Souls game, but the way they kept showing us something that just isn't in the final game right up to the end, without any info, kinda ticks me off. And From Software's official response to the graphics change just adds salt to the injury.

I get it, they probably couldn't get it to run at a decent framerate on the aging consoles (not that the framerate in the actual game is anything to write home about), and having to equip a torch in some areas was plain stupid (what if you play 2-handed for example...limiting playstyles in certain areas). But they could have said: "Hey guys, we can't get the game to run comfortably with these graphics, we have to tune it down so you can enjoy the gameplay at steady FPS", and they could have shown us the actual look of the game. People would be pissed, sure (and for a good reason, some of the gameplay trailers looked GLORIOUS with the old lighting), but they would understand methinks. But the way they handled it, it just doesn't sit well with me, as with many others.

Anyways, it still IS a new Souls game, and so far it is GREAT. I love the new armor designs, improved inventory, and the new travel system is kinda nifty too (some people will disagree I am sure, it is basically free fast travel between bonfires, which might not sit well with some).
WWF No Mercy.

I don't want to go back to WWE2k13 anymore after playing this, such a classic.
I just started AND finish playing The Walking Dead S2 Ep.2,
And my only words are...

Good to know! I've heard bad things about the Bed of Chaos too but I'll deal with both as I get to them.

I beat Demon's Souls on the weekend, the final boss of world 1 was awful. I tried the slow and defensive approach with a shield and spear and I was getting wrecked. Slow roll wasn't helping either. I ultimate changed gear back to the Dragon Bone Crusher 2H, some light equipment, and the equip burden up ring so I could do the quick roll. Defense was, again, mostly meaningless since if he did his triple swing combo I was fucked even if I was blocking and wearing good armor. Stayed mostly close, if he ever tried his charge attack he paid for it and I got in some quick swings here and there after some of his less dangerous attacks. He never did the triple combo when I beat him and good riddance. After him all the world bosses were defeated and the endgame was a pushover final boss. I ended up taking the good ending because w/e, it's done! I'll wait a while before starting Dark Souls, I'm going to start some old Wii games I never started like...

I'm playing Dragon Warrior III
It's seems fun, don't know why I didn't play it more when I was young.
I laughed when my lvl 1 Cleric gained a level and got +23 HP, and my mage got +18MP

After a little bit of this I'm going to play Dragon Quest 8

I finally finished GTAV :D

Awesome game... Yeah that's pretty much it.
Finished Dark Souls 2, enjoyed it a lot, though DS1 was probably the better game overall imho. In DS2 the NPCs weren't as interesting, the same with the story. Especially the ending was quite disappointing (as was the last boss). But still lots of fun. And the only time I looked at a walkthrough was when I was completely stuck, because there were no other areas open to me, and the way forward had to be open by an NPC who I had no idea would pop up in certaion location. The game kinda lacks direction at certain points, and you can miss some things rather easily.
But overall, still around 50 hours of great fun,and I died only about 240 times.

Now playing The Witch and the Hundred Knight, but it crashed on me after an hour, will try again later when I get back from work. But so far I can say that the music is just what you would expect from NIS, meaning AWESOME.
Been playing Elder Scrolls Online, pretty good fun. The "Skyrim with friends" analogy really holds weight for me, because I find myself getting bored and logging off if my friends list is full of offline people.

Also been having some fun with Loadout. Pleasantly surprised by this game, it's like a cross between Quake 3 and Team Fortress 2. I'm not a big FPS fan, but this game is a lot of fun. The weapon crafting is a blast but, the best part, is that it's free to play and all weapon upgrades are earned by PLAYING the game rather than throwing money at it.
Finishing up with Secret of Evermore.
In the middle of Lufia - Ruins of Lore.
Starting Ar no Surge.

I played Nidhogg. It's a festival game about jousting that is surprisingly addicting and I bet even more so with friends. Been playing Monaco: What's Yours Is Mine as well, a really good stealth game that is even better multiplayer. WAhy do I always play good multiplayer games when I don't have friends to play them with? Well, I do have friends, just not ones that play video games :I
Yellow Magic
Could I BE any more Chandler Bing from Friends (TM)?

Currently replaying Persona 2: Eternal Punishment a.k.a. coolest jRPG ever
That's possibly my favorite game of all time. Maybe I'll replay that soon, too!

I just completed FFX HD for the first time. I was grinding to tackle the Dark Aeons, but I couldn't last one round even against the weakest one, so I moved on to complete the game...which was a breeze. I had a lot of fun with it, though. Starting X-2, and I'm finding several aspects of it a bit hard to parse.

Just ran through The Wolf Among Us episode 3 last night, which was excellent. I'm going to replay it over the weekend.

...aaaand Bravely Default when I'm on public transport, which is still interesting but starting to slog a bit.
Currently playing Soul Sacrifice and FIFA 14 (naturally).
Spec Ops: The Line.

Really, really good.

Played and finished Spyro the Dragon after booting it from my old PS CDrom to an emulator. That game was the most amazing thing to happen to my childhood, and after years of letting that disc sit there, I was finally able to play it again.

It hasn't aged too well, in a similar vein to Super Mario 64 I guess. Some camera-wrestling was present and if I'm not PERFECTLY on a platform while gliding, I'd slip off and fall to my doom. Aside from that, the game was as fun as I remember it and it's design was simply genius.

Also, FUCK this stage!

How did I beat this as a kid without using a guide?
