Kentona: That's a very clever world map.

It's a mutation of North and South America.

And that capital city is right where you'd find Montreal.
I pronounce Missiongarde with a french accent:

Miss-see-oon-gee-ayrr-deh

MODIFY:
To further clarify my influences:
- The lower left is a blend of the tip of California + Mexixo and South America
- As many people pointed out, the lakes are like the Great Lakes
- The islands at the bottom are like Cuba
- The islands in the middle are like Taiwan and the Phillipines
- The large island between the South America and mainland was inspired by Madagascar
- Just north of that, that square landmass is like Arabia
- The areas next to and above is kind of like Europe, with France and Spain and UK
- The lowerleft chunk of the second continent is kind of like Australia
- It's eastcoast is inspired by Brazil
- The landmass attached on the north end reminds me of a scorpion
- The small island is Hawaii-esque
- The group of islands in the northeast are just weird

Might I suggest that Missiongarde be moved onto the shore of the lake next to it? I'm picturing it as a hub town of sorts, so maybe being able to take a ship to other towns in the late game might be possible.

ALSO, could we get a link to a full-size world map?

WARNING! Massive Image File!

http://kentona.rpgmaker.net/missiongarde/Map0001.png

I mapped out part of Missiongarde. It was moved closer to the sea and is ringed by mountains along it's northern front. Near the capital is Goslin's Pass, taking you to the wild northern forests (possibly another country). I imagine it to be the natural habitat of the Ingos.

I imagine Missiongarde the country to encompass the area between the mountains and the lakes, and the area between the east shores of the lakes and the eastern coast (not mapped yet).

On the northeast peninsula you can find the Bandit's Tower.

The capital of Fashri I was thinking would be located between the Great River (connecting the giant bay and the western ocean) and the large inlet somewhat shaped like a scimitar. It is very rich, as it controls trade between the southwest continent and the main continent AND all sea trade from the east to the lands and island northwest of Fashri. Very lucrative.

Someone want to do an article on the Grayguard, Royal Marines, Goslin's War, the Lesser Houses, etc?
Ricardir Gardeheim

King Ricardir Gardeheim XXVIII, 'the Undying', His Majesty, King of Missiongarde, Prince of Avrion, Regent of Roenfeld, Keeper of the Undersool.

Ricardir Gardeheim was king of Missiongarde for the longest contiguous period. Coming to the crown at the age of 12, after the natural death of his father, he took up the mantle of the kingship with a serious and strongarmed attitude, having a violent passion for the powers and traditions of the monarchy created frequent conflicts with the Parliament.

The Undersool the came under his guard when the nearby Kingdom of Roenfeld was cursed under a mysterious spell. All the citizens had turned to amber, save the Princess Roena, who was sealed in a block of ice. Ricardir set up an outpost near Roenfeld and declared its annexation, but no one enters the kingdom for fear of the curse, not even to unthaw the princess. As such, the Undersool, a series of elaborate, icy, mines and caves, has not been entered for years, despite its rich amber resources and mineral wealth.

His epithet 'the Undying' comes from his prolonged 56 years where he was confined to bed with a mysterious illness. The king himself, despite a haughty cough and frequent bouts of arrythmia, practiced calesthentics and selective nutrition judiciously. Ruling the kingdom from his private quarters for the remainder of his life, rarely making public appearances, the king became disattached from wordly affairs after his wife of seventy years, Queen Allobelle, died in 980. While weak and infeebled, doctors' predictions of his death always proved to be premature: the man lived to be 103 years old before he was found murdered in his bed.
THE GRAYGUARD
Factions â€" Organizations
Grayguards are known for the stroke of gray paint or cement on the chest of their armor. The number of strokes indicates the member's rank in the Grayguard.

The Grayguard was established in the dawning years of the Parliament after several representatives were murdered between feuding factions. The sole purpose of the Graygard is to defend the personal safety of the numerous representatives in the Parliament.

Recruits of the Grayguard are chosen by its commander from local military or police. Anyone may turn down the recruitment, but the pay is often worth everyone's attention. Those recruits are then trained in one of four training locations; Fort Aerakreth, Enaem Keep and two other non public locations sworn to secrecy. After a year of training recruits either become members or they are slain for failure. Failure was usually based on character flaws, such as being untrustworthy.

ROYAL MARINES
Factions â€" Organizations
Originally, the top of the class from the Grayguard became a Royal Marine after taking a lengthily oath before the king himself. The top of the class was determined by the Grayguard commander. However, in 986, after an attempt on King Ricardir Gardeheim's life was made by a Royal Marine, the king called for reform. The acting commander Alav Dandro was found dead a day later in his jail cell beneath Enaem Keep. The calling card of the Dark Gate was found on his body.

The attempt on the king's life was the first that the public had ever heard of the Royal Marines and the public feared them. Their strange armor was white opulant and like nothing the commoners had ever seen. Once discovered, the king had to let his people know that the Royal Marines were to be feared. A tournament was created for the top sixteen Grayguard. The tournament is called the Mashaar and held annually at the Krea Coliseum. The winner would adorn the Royal Marine armor in one final moment of glory before being rushed away into the secret organization.

Under King Ricardir's reign, the non winners did not survive their tournament rounds. King Latenir has changed the rules where death is not mandatory, nor is citizen attendance.

Royal Marines are looked to as the angry hand of the King with their demonic faceplates and ruby eyes. Although no one quite knows that they do, many speculate that they carry out secret missions on behalf of the king and rumor has it that King Latenir does not have control of them, nor has any king but Ricardir.

Hey, I play to my strengths. I'm leaving the storyish details up to those more qualified than I.

However, I must ask for some history on the city of Missiongarde itself. I will have to consider that when I sit down and plan out the city, and what's in it.
Working is better than talking about work. I think you are doing the right thing Kentona. The world is but a stage, so there is no story beside armageddon that could affect the story.

It is kind of like the building needs an engineer, but the land should already be there :-) Buildings are built according to the land they are on.

Goslin's War
Event- War
AV 603-703
Also known as the "Hundred Years War", a major war that devastated the dark continent. It was advocated by Theoduros Goslin, who with his strategist and self-proclaimed prophet Mercuio Esteven. They believed it to be a holy war which to fight against the native people of the dark continent. It had over 200 battles, many of which are still unknown today. The three major battles known however are The battle of Hunza Pier, The battle of Fallusia and of course the ever so remembered Coron Day Battle which took place on Coron Day. The battle was split into three periods of time.

AV 603- 636: Rebellion Occupence

Goslin and his esteemed strategist Esteven started to claim minor villages from the dark continent. However since the natives were tossed around as savages. There was no backlash or protest from any of the higher empires. Soon Goslin picked up momentum were Esteven would preach in the captured villages, then proclaim the time to be upon them when Goslin's force would invade. This led to many silent surrenders from the villages who with open arms welcomed their would-be-saviors and joined Goslin's force. Goslin was said to have captured 366 small villages using this tactic. With this Goslin's army grew larger and larger. Goslin later struck at the large native empire of Seveonita. His large army outnumbered the empire's troops 3-to-1. It was then other nations of the dark continent called out to the greater empires for help. Although they sent supplies and small amounts of weapons, they would not send troops. Stating as one of the strategists of the greater empire said "What is it of us to protected those savages, let him have his territory. It need not concern of us". This would later be shortened and used as a slogan for anti-war. By 636 AV, Goslin had taken over almost all of the dark continent.

AV 636- 689: The Invasion Moves West

After conquering almost all the dark continent, Goslin was crowned by his troops as the Holy King of Missiongarde. Amassing his troops, he sent Esteven to preach within the greater for a much larger plan. Esteven did as so and returned home with many secretly pledging their allegiances to Goslin's quest. On the eve of Coron Day, Goslin entered the borders and order for the revolts to begin. Esteven had caused many to revolt and several small governments were brought down in a matter of hours. The greater empires could not turn their heads any longer and amassed their troops and prepared for battle. Soon Goslin found himself struggling against the major forces. However Goslin massive force was bigger but less trained than the greater empire's army leading to many of them being killed. Esteven however saw this and used it to his advantage using many of his secret tactics and caused much distress. Goslin was able to penetrate his troops all the way to Fallusia were Esteven had taken post. Months later before the battle of Fallusia, Goslin would die from a disease. There Esteven pitted off against another strategist Gilon Kironke. After around a month of fighting, Esteven exhausted from the invasion so far and running out of supplies rather than the Fallusia forces who were backed by many of the greater empires. Esteven was forced to retreat, however using a slash-burn strategy. He destroyed much of the greater empires' land while retreating. They returned home in 678 AV. The greater empires did not pursue them any further after hearing news of Esteven falling ill. They had thought the war had been put to an end.

AV 689-703: The Final Strategy
Esteven grew ill due to his disappointment over defeat and old age, Esteven is said to have called Goslin's son and uttered these words "I know take my post in the heavens". Hearing encouragement from these words, Goslin's son amassed his renaming forces and invaded the borders of the great empire once again. However he ahd used another strategy, using the secret tactics that Esteven had shown him. However he was unskilled and was not able to properly pull of these secret tactics. He was stopped at Hunza Pier. Not wanting to be captured, he set all his ships on fire and destroyed most of his forces. However he was still captured and put on trial. He was executed soon after that. This however led the greater empires, dark continent rulers, and lesser empires to set the middle ground treaty which would lead to the creation of Parliament.

Goslin's WarCategory=Event.
Years=661-703 AV.
An uprising of the noble houses united under Imanuel Goslin of House Goslin against the perceived tyranny, bureaucratic incompetence, and high taxes of the current King (King Haeflin Gardeheim), who was of the ruling Royal House Gardeheim.

Goslin's War was civil strife taking the form of a series of "minor" civil wars fought between 661 AV and 703 AV, continuing well after the assassination of Imanuel Goslin in 688 AV. After nearly half a century of bloody conflict, it ended in 703 AV with the Middleground Treaty which established a constitutional monarchy, created the Parliament, and a foundation for power sharing between Parliament and King.

In the other post by Max McGee after that post he stated he wanted Goslin's War, not sure what he wanted to do with that.
He likely wanted it expanded, or was just using it as an example. Either way, to maintain consistency, it would be wise to use the names and time periods already established.
These are pretty elaborate for a game that has the graphics of Dragon Warrior. Elaboration loses charm.
They need not be part of the active storyline(s)...in fact, I doubt anyone expects all of them to. But the details herein can be useful in building missions, backstory and atmosphere (plus it gives people some stuff to put in books in some big library :) )
This feels like Morrowind.

ORIGINS OF THE DARK CONTINENT
Land Mass
The dark continent is located in the south-eastern quadrant of the world. It is known as the dark continent due to its unenlightened, unorganized nature. Notable features of the dark continent are the Vakru river that runs through the belt of the continent and the network of rivers known as the Vasoru in the west. South of the Vakru is Vasov, a lake with monstrous fish not found anywhere else. Most of the inhabitants are considered savages that were duped by the intelligent Peruvo Empire that uses magic for virtually everything.

The people of the southern majority of the continent are considered savages due to their worship of demons in their mythology called the Ookasuna. Each village has a chief and is completely independent from one another with numbers in the thousands. There were several different languages unique to each village tribe that resulted in many disputes. During Goslin's War, hundreds of villages have either burned down or have been overgrown by plant life.

This is a stub, feel free to add to it or add the current dark continent.

THE PERUVO EMPIRE
Empire / Great Empire
The Peruvo Empire is considered one of the great empires due to its superior magic known well around the world. They are located on the northern part of the dark continent, segregated by a thin strip of land called the landou teather, that is blocked by a magical wall that surrounds their territory. This is the boundary that Goslin's War never crossed although Mercuio Esteven discovered a creature that would nullify the magical barrier. After the snartle creature was found, the Peruvo suddenly had a great interest in Goslin's War and used their influence to convince the other great empires to join the war.

This is a stub, feel free to add to it.

What the fuck.

1) Where I fucked up: accidentally asking for Goslin's war which I already did.
2) Where you fucked up: doing an "Expansion" of Goslin's war that totally vetoed it. I gotta ask that that second Goslin's war get nixed.
Perhaps the second Goslin's War should be known as the Dark Conflict, the Cleansing of the Dark Continent or the Dark War. Totally different from Goslin's War.
It's taking place at the same time as Goslin's War, and resolves with the Parliament being formed. It can't be kept with just a name change. =/
In 1999 there were 38 wars in the world.

So change the dates of the Dark Conflict and make it a stepping stone to Parliament being formed. Like not the straw that broke the camels back, but something that would lead up to it. Not my call though.

Also... The Dark Conflict seemed to have Parliament made up of the great empires... and not representatives from guilds like the Parliament article states.
