EDITING A2 TILESET

Ok here is the deal I can edit all resouces in paint. But for some reason when I open up TileA2 the Image changes. Is this a problem with paint or is Png's just gay?

Gimp? http://www.gimp.org/

I never tried it, but I heard it's the closest thing to a free photoshop.
