BEST RM GAMES YOU'VE EVER PLAYED

Eternal Edenwhile not a bad game is certainly not a great game either. It's the most decidedly average game ever. It's pretty much just a basic cut and paste J-RPG game (like what I make).

I'm ignoring this because Legionwood will be the best game ever.

I am hoping you are sarcastic.
Haha, it's awesome, but it might not be the best game ever.
I thought I had posted in this topic already.

I'm gonna make a top 5:

1. Dhux's Scar
2. The Longing Ribbon
3. Kinetic Cipher: Again
4. A Blurred Line
5. Professor McLogic

Gaia's games are quite polished, I really do have high hopes for it. It was unfortunate that I'm not a survival horror fan, as One Night was just perfect in that department, so I've been anticipating a final release for Legionwood for a while. Plus his beta tester is pretty top notch.
About EE, well, it isn't the greatest game graphics wise, and I've played free RM games with better stories and character interactions. It has few, if any scripts and uses the default everything. Saying that, it's pretty good at showing how the default everything can be used to make a good VX game. Most of all, I found it rather fun. The puzzles are pretty good, the dungeons are non-too-shabby and the plot, whilst not great, is pretty nice for what it is. The characters are likeable and the way the character interaction plays out is different from any games that I've played before. And there are a shit-ton of treasure to find. I like treasure. And exploration.

So yeah, play it for yourselves and see whether it's okay or not. I enjoyed it. I also got the FULL version, which allows you to play the whole thing (well duh). As for stopping play at a certain time, none of that occurred, though two items were added to the inventory that will open a page for either donating or buying the full version. I left a small donation because I felt guilty otherwise. ^.^;;

This post does not condone Pirates! Yarr! Unless they're mugiwaras!

Dark Gaia left these forums for a reason (me). Also, it embodies everything I dislike about the cookie-cutter jRPG. Alsoalso, Dark Gaia is a grade-A sleaze. Alsoalsoalso, I played several hours of Legionwood to give some feedback, wound up really disliking the game, and DG fucking FREAKED OUT and then edited his posts to make him look better and the admin of RRR had to come in and tell me that I shouldn't expect good behavior from a moderator because he is a moderator. Also, a portion of RMN doesn't like him for stealing some of my faux-originality. Also, I think Legionwood and Dark Gaia suck in general.

Summary: Legionwood and Dark Gaia embody everything that I dislike about the community.
Craze, Dark Gaia is fantastic, and a good game maker. In fact, he is one of the people who make me try and make the best games I can, because I played his games and they were all awesome. There was nothing wrong with his games nor him. I don't see why they would "suck" as most of his games are really great, and lots of people love them.
He was even very determined. He spent a few years working on Legionwood, and he doesn't deserve you insulting him and his games. They were all top-quality and were very well handled.
I've read some stuff in the last couple of days that made me understand more the taste of players in this community, and maybe in RPG Maker community as a whole.

My conclusion is basically that people love the epic-generic-clichefull-traditional-RTPish-RPG, there'll always be space for that, no matter how repetitive they are, and that other genres will always have to struggle for a small share of attention, no matter how good the games are.

This disappoints me extremely, but that's ok. It's mostly an statistic conclusion (based mainly on download counts), and it's something we have to aknwoledge to interact properly and wisely with the community we're in.

What? There isn't anything there which says otherwise.
I hadn't realized he left these forums.

What? I'm sorry, there are a lot of shades of gray between GODDAMN MOST GENERIC RPG EVER (LOL HERO'S REALM) and LOL MARVEL BROTHEL. A lot of my games fit into their own niche and have received a good share of attention while thousands of poorly made Dragon Warrior clones have been ignored. The most important thing is that a game be good. But yes, will making something like MARVEL BROTHEL turn some people off? Of course. Doesn't mean you shouldn't make it! And it also doesn't mean that every popular game is lol fantasy jRPG. In fact, the only fantasy games putting up big numbers are Hero's Realm and Legacies of Doodieroodie (a highly mediocre game, the latter, but don't get me started). In fact, it's things like Visions & Voices (which at least SELF-IDENTIFIES as Lovecraftian horror and certainly has some non-traditional gameplay) and A Blurred Line (dystopian cyberpunk scifi) that have the most staggeringly ludicrous download counts.

P.S. I have reason to strongly suspect that Craze and Dezz123 are both a little wrong and the truth lies somewhere in between their polarizing arguments. I don't think that Dark Gaia is either god's gift to game making nor the bane of all fucking chapsets.
I had written a huge reply, but changed my mind. Doesn't matter. I'll just say that:
-I know I tend to exaggerate on my arguments when I'm trying to prove a point.
-I agree, there are shades of gray, and not every popular game is LOL generic jRPG.
Hmm here are some of my favorites off the top of my head, I've probably forgotten something
- Aurora Wing
- A Blurred Line
- The Way
- Sunset over Imdahl
- Sacred Earth
- Memento Vivere
- The Black Effect
- Every single game by Craze

Hm I want to know what DFalcon and Lysander are up to these days. Those guys were legendary! Used to chat with them on irc years ago...

DF is... around. Lys has pretty much evaporated from the community.

Also, <3.
Good to see you, Diedrupo! Sadly Lys doesn't even do his "pop up when somebody mentions ABL" thing anymore, yeah.
