"anipocalypse" is so named for the over-opinionated anime fans who coin terms in an attempt to add any sort of weight to their general disdain of what they don't like. These tend to be terms no one has heard about before until mentioned.
Personally, new or old, for being a fan of Japanese animation shows, I actually find lots of Japanese animation either boring or just terrible.

Ahhh, Ninja Scroll - How I stayed up late hours waiting for you to come on late at Night on the Space channel... That Earth guy with the twirling sword boomerang was the coolest thing I'd ever seen.
Also, Escaflowne was pretty awesome. I enjoyed the movies, but obviously the series was better. My Wife really hates that movie though...
also, as an aside, I JUST finished watching Serial Experiments Lain. To be honest, I wasn't a fan, but that might be because I'm spoiled with the newer series that obviously must have learned from Lain. In the future, I'll probably just watch Paranoia Agent.

Hmm that's funny because when I watched it with my gf she hated it too despite liking the series. I don't know, usually I do not fall for things like "verygood graphics!!" or "verygood animation!!" but I think that movie has a very interesting feel and look and gives me a sort of romantic vibe??

I was obsessed with anime for like a year. Then I grew out of it.
Though, I'll always have a soft spot for Ranma (because it was my first anime) and Evangelion (because it awesome). Maybe one day I'll buy the boxset for both.

No, I didn't like DBZ and never really watched it :/
Same with me. Too much filler. And being that I was like 11 years old and was still able to pick up on that, was really sad.
All my friends loved it though.
