SCREENSHOTS- 525,600 CHIPSETS

@geodude: Uh, in that sky gate bridge example you posted the vertical beams only extend about 5% of the bridge length, where they are then replaced by standard diagonal trusses which like 1000% of bridges are constructed of. WHY ARE YOU SO AGAINST REASON?

edit: this is what you're in for if you continue along the path you've chosen:http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6f/Wootton_bridge.jpg
All spear and sword attacking directions are finished!

(It looks better animated). Next, I need to work on the stores and on general NPC's.

Also, I agree with Kaempfer and the bridge, along with almost all structural engineers.
I really like that, Radnen. The centre of town is a little too symmetrical (even if that is what you are going for), but otherwise it's really great. The doorways just sort of cutoff along the edges, though. Are you going to put borders a la the windows, or are they going to be filled with doors?
There will be doors in the doorways, but I haven't made them yet. Also, yes, the well is symmetrical, but if you read my blog, it's for festivities, so the flowers and what-not around it are there for the occasion.

I could definitely try to change some things up, however, thanks.
I think the bridge looks SICK, but that's just my 2 cents. I don't think you should change a thing.
I didn't say it looked bad. It's just an FF6 chip at this point.
Finished the southern half of the starting town: A farming community.

(I'm actually building these maps in reverse order)...

Ghaa, maps are so hard to make in Sphere. XD There is no terraforming and I'm not using an RM-styled chipset, so the way terrain is laid out is way different. Everything you see is placed by hand. GAhh my hand!

That guy totally resembles Foget.
It's looking really good. What do you mean placed by hand? Like... in a bitmap? Anyways, it's really shaping up nicely. The sprite is a little... frumpy, though. Is he a dwarf of some sort?

Who is Foget?

He is actually from the future and from another planet, and I tried to go for a "blocky" look, hence the games title: Blockman. He's not a human, so let's just go with that for now. ;)

And by hand, I mean w/o terraforming. Like each corner, each side piece, is clicked in place by hand. The ground/water/grass/trees don't "snap" around like it does in RM.

... That thing looks retarded. Is that supposed to be a helmet or a hat on his head?

Oh, yeah, I've seen that thing. Blockman is/was definitely not modeled after it. (Blockman's sprite was made in early '07, I don't think Foget was the mascot then, but I never joined that community until late '08 or early '09, and as you can imagine, I wasn't there for long to realize this).

Hey everyone. This is my first time posting here, mostly because I thought I'd get my maps torn apart and I'm sensitive ;P.

But I'm working on the next mini dungeon of my game and I'm not feeling to great about it.
Since since you guys seem to really have an eye for quality(not sarcasm), I was wondering if I could get some help. Feel free to nitpick it apart and I'll see what I can do to improve it.

It just feel like somethings missing or there's more I can do.

Hey, that looks familiar! Looks good, though, but I find it a bit strange that the amount of lava is so small.
Wouldn't the room be brighter? That's some pretty intense darkness. I guess lava may not be as bright as it is more subtle than most light giving substances. Yet... there definitely would me more of it. Lava doesn't usually show up in small localized areas, like this.

Love the atmosphere though. Seems like dark and more darkness is a common theme in all of these "pretty" looking games.

It perfectly possible that there is plenty of lava underneath the floor. and it just happens to show through those cracks.

Familiar? The mapping style or tileset? Yeah I was thinking the same thing about the lava myself...I wish there was a way to explain without giving it away why there's lava in there in the first place. But at the very least there is a reason why the magma is like that (even the the area is more a water cavern type area, cause it aint a volcano.)

I think perhaps my screen is a bit to bright, because what seems like average darkness to me tends to come off as pretty extreme to others. But like I said to Rei(and I really don't want to sound defensive either) is there is a reason why it only in little bits and pieces(and no, it isn't because the world is "falling apart" or something like that). The game itself is actually really really lighthearted in tone(maybe a bit too much at points), but I know games that look like mine are known for being pretentious and dark and "deep"(using finger quotations there). That's not really the case with Adela Isra. Dark, moody games tend to bore me quite a bit actually(personal problem. This is just kind of a creepy cave is all XD.

But I appreciate the comments. Lava aside, it's really the rest of the area that's getting on my nerves (gaahh I'm inept when I can't fill a room up with flowers!!).
..Accidental Post?(WTF just happened?!!)

Uhhhh....well I guess I should use this post to reply to Chaos then o_o...
I've been studying the maps in Ill Will pretty heavily for cave mapping since it seems to be my down fall, I'm just always impressed with what you guys manage to do with the resources you have(goes back to studying).
