THE FINAL FANTASY XIII TOPIC
Posts
I dunno if it's just me, but it's probably only for the english speaking people that the names sound horrible to. When the words they chose for the names lose their meaning (in all other languages), they have cool ring to them. This also happens in Japan, and I'm not sure how much they sell copies of the game inside Japan in comparison to US.
Oh god that song really was horrible. Whoever made that trailer has horrible sense of style.
And Here's the soundtrack for those who're interested.

For those that haven't seen this yet, this here is the DRAMATIC FF13 TRAILER

I dunno about everyone else, but Once I'm interested in a game that's not out yet, I try to avoid all information about it until I decide it's the right time to buy it. I like to be surprised, and not spoil a single thing. I hate it when I accidentally read something that's supposed to a be a secret before I play a game. Sometimes I'm lucky and forget. Other times, trying to forget it makes me remember.
I really wish I didn't know who the masked man is in Mother 3....

Yes yep! That's me! That's exactly what I was saying in my previous post. This goes for everything with me, be it games, movies, or anime.
haha, oh dear.
i've got to admit, my hopes and expectations dropped massively when i found out there are no towns to explore, no shops to visit and a limited amount of NPC's to talk to :(
i suppose we'll see when it come out though...

I'd love to see the whole review, just to see why they say 'No real RPG elements'. I'm still gonna end up getting it anyway, as I've been waiting for it to come out since it was announced, and the linearity/no towns/no npcs and stuff as I'm used to that in other RPGs.

Oh yeah?
Best games of all time on Famitsu (poll results from readers)
1.Final Fantasy XIII
2.Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
3.Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
4.Final Fantasy X
5.Tales of Vesperia
6.Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
7.Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4
8.Final Fantasy VII
9.Tales of Graces
10.Yakuza 3
But also consider that Famitsu's readerbase is Japanese. I'm not Japanese and neither is the other 99% percent of the planet that's going to play this game. I'll keep an open mind, but Mass Effect 2 is going to be a hard act to follow.

Final Fantasy 13, popular? Astonishing.
If the rest of that list is any indication, the users polled have awful tastes.
I find it very hard to trust in any of the reviews or statements anymore, seeing people either bash it for being different, or praise it to lick Squenix's arse.
I still think it's going to be enjoyable game, but I'm not expecting anything too epic, to not get disappointed.
I think this topic will serve its purpose better once the game is actually out.

If I can honestly enjoy games like Magna Carta 2 and Infinite Undiscovery, I will fall deeply in love with this game. This time next month I will be pushing it on a swing in slow motion with "Why do Birds Suddenly Appear?" in the background.
My point was that there's no use in taking the opinion of some random chinese website, or the opinion of rabid ff fans on who read famitsu. And yes, I know that list is ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as the 2chan trolls who brought this speculation to american shores.

Opinion? What about all of the short comings the review makes a note of? You can't just dismiss everything as opinion.
2chan? Seriously? I doubt they're the one responsible for the speculation surrounding the title; but I guess we'll see once the game is released and all of the drooling idiots (The same breed who bought Modern Warfare 2) go out and buy it in droves.
Yeah, people who play MW2 are fucking homos man*
Seriously, have you played MW2? Because I have. I can tell you there are a shittonne of imbeciles playing alongside you, but the game itself is incredibly solid. There are some balance issues, but those are pretty inevitable in a game played by so many people so often.
I would rate it at the top of any list of mutliplayer FPSes. I think it's pretty ridiculous to callously disregard something because other people like it *gasp*. Final Fantasy XIII won't be as good as people think it will be, but I imagine it'll still be a good RPG. MW2 wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but it's still a great FPS (the single player campaign makes no sense so I am disregarding it, it is obviously a MP vehicle).
It's also ridiculous to post the ONE BAD REVIEW and say "LOOK SEE SEE I AM RIGHT" when there are so many reviews that say the opposite. Look on Metacritic. Look at any high-ranking game. There is ALWAYS one fairly reputable source that has graded a game WAY WAY lower than the others. Anybody who makes decisions based on one review they found is stupid. I don't think that's the case for you, Nightblade, but it seems like you looking for a reason to hate this game.
*Please detect the irony in that statement and don't yell at me
edit: Also that list of games is not awful! Some of them are questionable, and some might not be "best games ever", but it is a fairly decent list. You sure love hyperbole!

...Except that this isn't one review at all. You're all acting as if this is the only person to have a bad opinion of the game. Think of it as another log of wood to add to the flaming wreckage that is Square's reputation.
The game will do well on reputation alone, much like Modern Warfare 2. Honestly; do you think MW2 would have gotten away with half the garbage it pulled if it was some other unknown IP? Tiny single player, removed multiplayer features, rampant cheating, should I go on; or would that be considered "hyperbole"?
Yes, but there are a huge number of people who have a positive opinion about the game. Many, many more people. Why aren't you listening to them, instead?

Because these are the same idiots who publish garbage reviews (IGN to name just one). Sometimes even contradicting themselves in the same review. I'll even give you an example.

The reviewer gives the game 85%, but if you take the time to read... Or even skim through it badly; you'll see that the guy has a pile of complaints. It's almost as if these people are lying to themselves.
To clarify one thing; I don't make decisions on game based solely on reviews. Gameplay footage is also something to factor in before making a purchase... Actual player footage; not the fluffed up crap shown by the actual developers (or whoever puts these things out).
I wasn't impressed by anything I saw. Not the terrible dialogue, cluster fuck battle system, or the samey character design (with the exception of one character... guess)...
Edit: And the plot synopsis... Jesus Christ the plot synopsis. It reads like a god damn fanfic.
Gee, I'm getting the impression the Nightblade doesn't care for Final Fantasy XIII. The real question is: why does he expect us to care? Most of the people posting on this topic are going to buy the game regardless of what he or anyone else says about it.

You might as well say: "Gee, why does anyone care what I post. It's my opinion and people may not care so let's not post."
it's called expressing your opinion.
