Haha yeah. I just hope that people don't think that I am playing this to flame folks! I am just speaking my mind - and my mind is quite .. vulgar.
I always took you as a warm person from all of your cutesy reviews, profile pictures, and talk of hamsters. Your videos definitely caught me off guard.

If I had to play Carpe Diem I would be pretty cold and cranky too

i don't know if you meant the Carpe Diem review to be funny, but it was.
It sort of cracked me up that they drop 10 names but it still takes five minutes to find out who this scientist we're following around is :P

Nope. I try not to bash or make fun of games, but things just happen ....

I'm not really liking all this Carpe Diem bashing. This designer is really trying hard to make a good game. Honest and fair effort deserves honest and fair feedback -- not honest and humiliating. Constructive feedback will motivate him to improve the game; using the game as a butt-end of forum jokes will motivate him to pursue a hobby that doesn't bite back.

I understand how game-bashing can be a knee-jerk reaction, but people actually read these forums and react pretty strongly to them, especially in real life.

With that said, I can understand the in-video jokes or rants; that just comes with the territory. Creator watch at their own risk :)
What is your criteria for choosing a game to try?

Something like this could be very helpful for me because I rarely get enough criticism, not that it doesn't warrant any.
Hayate no Gotoku! Dream Apocalypse
Either people never bother to finish it, thus giving me incomplete information on what needs to be fixed.
Or they love it (fans of the series) and do nothing but praise it.

It is the real time criticism that intrigues me.

Yeah, I like the idea of the real-time criticism as long as it does not humiliate or put down the creator. It just has to be done carefully, and I think YDS is going into this with the intent to help people -- not to hurt them. My LP of Hero's Realm is/was basically the same idea.
But, Carpe Diem _is_ pretty bad. Like, come on, 20 minute cutscenes, and a hopeless battle right from the get go. What is he trying to emulate? Xenosaga? Hopefully he sees the vid and reads the comments and maybe he'll improve those issues.

I made so many warnings and notices on multiple occasions that I am just speaking my mind bluntly. Absolutely, completely bluntly.

Sorry, you seem to disagree judging from your comment on the video, but I felt that the game was genuinely bad and during the LT of it, I just said what first popped up in my mind.

There were some people who told me to play Game X just to trash it because it would be funny, but you know what? I told them no because I genuinely put this all up for developer(s). If you are the dev and you don't like what you see thusfar, I'd happily discontinue it.

If people are going to give me as much problems about this than Solitaasfare's reviews, I'd honestly stop altogether.

I just do whatever. Sometimes people request me to LT their game, and sometimes people request me to LT a certain game. I am not sure if you want me to do it for a few reasons, one being is that I am going to be insanely bias because I really, really, really hated the anime.
No thanks then, it is one thing to have not been exposed to the source material, it is another to have not enjoyed it.
I am not in dire need of critique/critism at the moment, but my game does ultimately require it.
Your to the point videos just caught my eyes, that's all.

I wouldn't mind doing it, but I know that I won't be very fair towards it. ;| Especially because I don't know the source material too well.
I think if you've been paying too much attention to YDS' f-bombs you are watching them wrong. Her videos are helpful due to knowing how exactly a player could come to the conclusion that such and such could be different. In a written review it is hard to tell if it is the reviewer's fault or the game's fault that caused the reviewer's problem to exist. There is a large "feedback advantage" potential that these LTs have. YDS' frustrations are really understandable when you realize this is being done live and not pre-written.

At the very least, I hope some game authors will realize just how bad slow walk speeds are.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Hey YDS, I would love if you would do this for my game Vindication. I love getting feedback, as I often use it to improve aspects of my game despite it being finished over a year ago, and am also working on a new project which could greatly benefit from any sort of commentary about my existing work. I also am the kind of person who doesn't understand the concept of being offended, so I'm monumentally unlikely to get angry about anything you say! I am watching some of your videos now and they seem like exactly the sort of thing that would be insanely helpful to me.

Honestly, when I get my game uploaded I would love mine to be critique'd like this, just because it'd be really funny.

Lmfao!! Hey YDS, thanks for attempting my game in your "Let's Try"! First off I just want to say that even though you struggled with the game, I did enjoy your play-through xD. It was quite funny even though you were dealing with a lot of flaws in the game itself.

I APOLOGIZE for that first boss battle. I've received a lot of feedback on him and my battles in general, and I am currently reworking the stats of ALL of my monsters. I definitely made that boss waaay too hard, especially for a first boss. I have some great ideas for the battles so I can assure you that all the issues with the battle system will be addressed and have been noted, as Deckiller has mentioned as well. He is definitely beatable, but he's not supposed to increase his armor that much...idk why he did! Bad luck I guess. Again, I apologize for your struggles.

As for the text speed, long intro, etc etc...that will all remain the same. Actually, I'm reworking the intro right now. The length will remain the same, but I think you're right with throwing all those terms at the player so early. Yes, they will all be refereed to later on in the game, but spreading them out more is definitely a good idea.
Also...and maybe you'll kill me for this...but there IS a sprint button...I've had a lot of people tell me they didn't know there was one until later on...so I'm adding a small "tutorial" in the beginning of the game to let the player know there is a sprint button.

I just want to let everyone know that I've received a lot of feedback, both positive and negative and I am taking it all in. I don't disapprove negative feedback, I just ask that you make it constructive, because I'm open to ideas and what people think I can do to better the game. However, there are certain things that I just will not change, because of my own personal choice, but when it comes to playability and difficulty actually playing the game, then I'm all ears.
I'm working hard on fixing ALL of the mistakes that made this demo so unattractive, and I really hope you take another crack at this once I fix everything up, YDS. I'd say try it one last time with the demo you have now, but you might already be fed up with it lol. There is a ton of game left, and I think Deckiller said it..or maybe nobody did, but the game does get better as you play it. But right now my mission is to make that true as SOON as you play it.
So before I make this too long...yeah...thanks again for trying, and I'm sorry again for the faulty boss haha.

Aight. No problem.

EDIT: Er, the problem with it is I just can't beat the boss. So I can't really go on with the game. I tried again, but I still died. I don't know.
Hm....I wonder why it' keeps messing with you. Try and level up Skylar and Haru one level. That might be the difference in beating the boss. Also, save Trance's magic until you can't deal any damage with him.
