I am doing a personal test of Edifice after making one more final boss, so as to release the game tonight.
author=dethmetalNo. I have a general idea of where things are and where I want them to be, but I don't actually map them until I get to that point in the development of the game/plot.
I'm mapping out the entire world in my game all at once... does anyone else do this?
I find that to be a more flexible approach, since you usually have a better idea of what you want to do as you develop the game.
Trying to refamiliarize myself with an old game I stopped seriously working on five years ago, and on which I left off work completely two or more years ago.
There is such a massive time gap that it almost seems like I was a different person then than I am now, and it's like trying to reverse engineer someone else's game. I'm sure that my rustiness with the engine, which I haven't used seriously since before 2008, and maybe even earlier than that, is a factor too.
If I actually complete this game, it will have been five years in the making, which is pretty cool!

That is true, but I'm really only mapping out towns and stuff. I just wanted to do some work on my game because it's taking me forever to flesh out the storyline completely.
Adding a new area to Infection that will have its own quest line separate from the Safe Zone missions.
Trying to change up the "city" landscape but at the same time make it flow well and not have a bad transition.
I find when I do this I tend to warp the storyline and its flow to gear towards what I've already mapped, if that makes sense.
But I usually do like having a general idea of what will go where, as mapping is one of my least favorite things to do in a fantasy style RPG.
But generally I agree kentona, I map as I go, so I have the ideas of what will be where fresh in my head.

I hate mapping. It has been my least favorite part of RPG Making for a solid ten years now. God damn I've been at this shit a long time.
10 years of mapping, oh god.
I really have to get into a groove to map my ass off, then it usually takes a couple revisions as the first way is never "great" in my eyes.
I'd rather do something over and over until its right then go "meh, it's passable"

Working on making this final boss not deal 2,700+ damage in a game where you have 2,500 HP. (My enemies are too smart for their own good.) Note that the states below are not the full effect of the states, just the most relevant parts.
He put Fire Fault on the entire party (decreased fire resist), and Defense Down on some (take 1.5x damage).
On himself:
-Fire Aura (+fire damage/crit)
-Inspire (+crit)
-Impact (3x critical hit damage)
Then used Breath of Fire, which is huge Fire damage to all foes.
That's 1.5 * 1.5 * 2 * 3 damage, or 1350% damage, and its base damage is ~160 per. Add in elemental weaknesses on characters, and....
ahhhhhhhhhh

Totally agreed, I just bore myself to death when having to make huge city or town with a big map, and make small areas of two or three blocks of residential for each area. Properly the reason why I keep quitting rpg maker.
Right now, playing through Cosplay Crisis again. How someone actually beat bloody Lightning and her group I have no goddamn idea. The levels are totally off, especially if you don't grind (which I am trying to avoid being necessary).
On that note however I DID PUT GODDAMN SILENCE MATERIA IN EARLY. PSH.
I need to write a walkthrough for this game I swear.

Working on a dungeon in 'Sunnydale, California' called..........................Sunnydale. Praise the lord for Swap Tiles.
I'm also occasionally working on a short mini project called Gatekeeper. I'm shooting for 5 hours of play time. Not much character development, but it's meant as a sort of "escape" for me.

"Developing" a sprite style which I intend to use in the future for a simplistic 100% custom graphics project.
First iteration was in my 4hr game - Shawshank Dead Redemption and went a little like this:

Then I tried recreating a known character in this style.

Doesn't really... look like a woman. Reminds me first of Redd White from Phoenix Wright than Lightning.
I don't agree with the Redd White business. :P
I'll agree that it doesn't particularly look like a woman, though.
I was thinking along the lines of Super Crate Box style somewhat, but those guys don't really look like anything besides a little square head with legs.
(for everyone but Craze and F-G's benefit)
