OK, so insults are degrading, and advice is useful. What I meant was that if you degrade something that's bad, then that's useful.
o.o No... What's useful is the advice related to the game, not the fact that your being a dick about it and insulting the person. If your degrading something your still being a dick no matter if the content was good or bad. There is ALWAYS a way to put advice in a positive way that will not only fix the problem at hand but leave the developer feeling good about themselves. If you can't understand that after my last post then there's no getting through to you. Whatever.
Calling the person a dumbass doesn't help though. The problem is with the product, not the person. So yeah, that's just pointlessly rude.
So if someone makes a terrible game, with maps that are just awful, character dialogue that makes no sense, and battles against beginning monsters with 10,000 HP...it's not the person's fault?

The problem is with the person, and the fact that they have a terrible sense of design and have no idea to make a good product with the program they have. When you make everything in the game, the game then becomes an extension of your mind and ideas. It is you. Making fun on someone's game is making fun of them.

Hockey sticks could probably break bones, not the carbon-fiber ones either, a good old fashioned wooden hockey stick. Maybe like...a small bone. A finger.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

With enough strength, a simple stick from the forest can defeat a Greater Chaos Dragon. It might only have 4 attack power, but a high enough level can often make up for poor equipment. I still wouldn't attack the final boss with it though, unless there's an achievement for doing so.

I saw a guy get slashed in the arm and dislocated his hand from his wrist. it was pretty gruesome. Oh, and you can't forget about a good stick to the teeth.

I thought Charlie Brown already established long ago that the hockey stick is the deadliest weapon ever invented by man.
I once knocked out a fellow player with a hockey stick - one of the wooden ones. There was blood all over - it wasn't pretty. (I'm much better at golf than hockey, just an FYI)

I'm sure there are ways to display screenshots without causing problems, such as a screenshot thread or integrating them into the blog.

Screenshot topics are kind of taboo - Around here, they're drama magnets.
Oh, Well that is .... quite true. But I still think it would be very helpful.
During my stay in GW, I actually thought that the screenshot topic was where gamemaking activity actually flourish. I don't know about others, but during those days screenshot thread was still active (and constantly flushed) I kept going to GW just to see them - new and old. There is just so much well.. motivation and drive going on there you can't help getting inspired by some of the screens.
I still think it'd work well if... I don't want to use this but... "regulated" closely by the mods or something alike to prevent flame wars or drama.

And maps, while not exactly the keystone of game design, are still pretty useful to do well. They make a nice first impression and so on and so forth. I too would appreciate such a thread. I would really enjoy reading people giving advice about maps and graphics because mine are kind of atrocious at times. It would be nice to have that all in one place instead of having to check the comments for every screenshot of every game on the site. Is there an actual rule against screenshot threads?
How is the "what are you working on" thread any different? It's exactly the same except for every other part of your game except maps.
At least its something else besides just maps. It's everything. It's great hearing about a battle system being worked on, a plot, coding, a map, some sprites, etc etc, instead of just Map 1, Map 2, Map 3, Map 4, Map 5, etc

give a man a fish, but tell him it's a bomb and not to eat it. then teach the man to fish. once he has started catching fish, advise him to hide his fish in a specific tree so bears won't steal them.
detonate the fish bomb you gave him earlier.

Like what was mentioned earlier, it will need to be closely moderated.
If you find screenshots to be hollow vaporware and/or fapping, then steer clear of the topic.
Screenshot topics are great source of inspiration for us and to deny us that is unfair.
Perhaps screenshot topics aren't the issue. Maybe it's the people who turn them into dramafests? Who needs that kind of person anyway?

Nothing against Gamingworld, but if they are capable of having a screenshot topic, we are.Please go find some of the old screenshot topics and come back again. You will realize that RMN is too immature for one and any attempt at moderation short of outright banning the topic is futile.
