abusing it how? any more than they can already with download counts? Or fake reviews?
Basically. Spamming their profile for more views, setting fake accounts and subscribing to games. I mean, why give people another outlet to abuse the system?

I don't see how turning this off will stop any "abuse" of the system. Why would someone who wants to "abuse" the system turn it off?

I do however, see how a developer may not want the info displayed on their public profile.

That was my beef with it, I didn't even consider it being abused.
which I don't see worrying about will matter.
Can we all just be happy and enjoy the improvements?
Yeah sometimes another yardstick by which to be publicly compared to others isn't for everyone.

Obviously some people don't see these changes as improvements.

My other beef with showing those kinds of stats would be that a lot of people will use that to determine ge quality rather than looking at the game itself.

Like "oh this game has only a few profile views and subscribers. It must be crap."
The setup isn't radical at all, and I doubt anyone pays that much attention. (It's no different than Youtube. Channels list profile views, total upload views and subscriptions).

I am of the strong opinion that more information is better, as I would rather have players make as informed decisions as possible (and feel good when their decisions are validated when they download a good game). I don't think hiding or omitting information benefits anyone.

They won't think it's crap. Most will rather think it's not popular. If you say it like that, might as well remove the download count too, since people will also base off that. The ultimate deciding factor, though, are not these stats, but contents and video uploaded and screenshots.

But I can see where you're coming from. I myself don't see really these public stat displays as improvements, more of just additions.
Good job implementing the number of reviews next to the stars, btw!
Still, having the option to turn them off would be nice for those who disagree that "more info = better", kentona.
Since we are talking about improvements, I really think the "New to RMN" topic should have its own category under the Forum link, maybe at the top, as it may be difficult for new people to find. It's helped me quite a bit myself when I first joined RMN and I still reference it from time to time. Just a suggestion.

This idea is being implemented somehow. I just haven't figured out the best way to do it yet.

Also, I need to update the article.

More info = better only if it is universally applied.

I am leaving those fields there for now. If there are adverse effects from it, I will reconsider.

Kentona, have you thought about limiting the amount of blogs weekly? I think something like 3 should be more than enough. People would then reconsider before posting blogs empty of content and wait until they have actually have something to show before presenting something.

It really is a pain to see a well written blog with plenty of content being pushed out of existence by the typical:
''Hey guys! I've worked on this today but I have nothing to show!'' which really are a plague.

Please consider :).

Do you mind elaborating on this? How is it better if it is universally applied? How is taking away the choice for the creator a better option?
Wait... I'm having a vision...

LOL NO SUBSCRIBERS YOU SUCK!
I'm always a fan of more choices, but if it's not easily implemented (and I would suppose it isn't), I prefer more stats over fewer.

Consumers of the information are relying on that information being universally available. Allowing information to be hidden takes that away from them. I am not a fan of that.

I will make note of this, though the issue at large requires more thought.

I think kentona was pretty reasonable in saying he would reconsider his standpoint if there were actually adverse effects, and since I agree that it seems unlikely that anybody will suffer persecution/abuse at the hands of statistical numbers, just wait and see. If it's not causing actual problems then you simply disagree and disagreements happen
So I added some sort options to lockers and submissions page.

The up arrow sorts ascending, and the down arrow descending. Right now the locker sorts on file name and date added. Working on sorting by size.

I also added them to the submissions page. You can sort on status right now, and it's not perfect: it sorts by status and then date added (earliest first), but I will continue to work on it.

This is such a useful addition :D
