What was your final party in FF6 (If you have played the game).
Personally, mine was always the same:
-Locke w/ genji glove and offering
Cyan - Because of Cyans "swordtech"
Shadow - Cause he looked too cool not to be in my party.
-Gogo - Because you could customize gogos attack menu with any characters special attacks.

I tended to use casters...Relm, Terra, Celes and someone with a genji thing, whatever it was called. Locke, more'n likely.
Cyan, while cool as fuck, is probably one of the worst, if not the worst, characters in the game. His slow speed and his SwordTech abilities pretty much put him all the way in the back. However I still give the man his due from time to time.

Hmm... I don't recall about FF6 but I remember my FF9 final party much more clearly:
Zidane - The coolest and strongest (and I think you have to have him).
Dagger - Because even though Eiko is "better" I'm totally in love with Dagger.
Steiner - Because the man is a tank and he can't die.
Vivi - Because he IS FF9.

Never bothered beating ff6. Not my favourite. Probably would have had that old guy with the sword tech.

It's absolutely true, though, and I remember the huge debates over at GF with legendaries like MeepleLard and Dijibriel (two people who spent like, hundreds of hours researching the characters and the battle mechanics) with people who couldn't accept the notion that, while cool/good, Sabin and Cyan didn't have anything over most of the cast who had better stats, skills and equipment.
The Genji glove/Offering doesn't even save the two (and Quick/Gem Box/Ultima is better anyway), because half the cast can utilize that setup better because they have better speed/equips. Sabin isn't terrible, but he's not that great either because his equipment options are rather limited and his algorithms are wonky; why are most of his Blitzes based on Magic Power and his Magic stat is completely ass?

Cyan is even worse than Sabin, though! At least Sabin's blitzes are decent damage dealers; but Cyan's SwordTech is fundamentally bad because of the fact that you have to wait for it to charge (in an ATB based battle system no less) and he's so slow, AND you can't even really do the Quick/Gem Box combo with him either because his magic power is booty.
I mean unless you're talking about the Psycho Cyan glitch than yeah fuck it fuck it destroy everything.
The Genji Glove/Offering combo works best on say, Locke with the Valiant Knife and its Defense ignoring properties, or Edgar/Terra/Celes with the Illumina with its autocriticals and random castings of Holy doing 9999 damage on top of the 9999 damage it's already doing 8 times per turn (which can add up to what, 16 or something times per turn?).

Sorry bros it's all about Gau who can completely * disable anything the game can throw at you and the rage can be acquired immediately once you get Gau. Just zip to Owzer's House, fight some flowers, zip back to the Veldt, leap (fuck da veldt), and now you can inflict a status effect that no boss can resist or lose! Clearly intentional because it wasn't fixed in FF6A too! :v

* Except enemies that have more than 65k HP due to the way FF6 handles these guys. It's (arguably) even more retarded than FF4. And by "except" I mean "just reapply" once the >65k HP trigger occurs aka the boss dies and respawns.

i think the conclusion we're drawing from this is that gamebreaking bugs is the best character to bring along

Now we need a Setzer reference. You can rig Setzer's slots with an Echo Screen to get reliable Joker Dooms. This is always possible, even in fights where getting 7-7-7 is flat out not allowed. You can get 7-7-Bar Joker Doom, but before Setzer takes his turn muddle+demuddle Setzer and he'll use Joker Doom on the enemy. Does require effort and timing though.
