Australia is full of RPG towns.

How's this? I tried to make a janitor's office/lounge like room.

Teenaged guy's room.

Detective, that looks much better. Try putting some mild colours on the walls, maybe some pictures/clocks/etc.
@Mr D: You're doing a lot better, but why don't you like rectangles? Did they hurt you some time in your past, dear? ;p

I just edited it a little. Basically I lined up the back-most wall so it's rectangular, separated the lounge from the rest of the house so it's enclosed, moved the airconditioner and shelf over to make things look a little more natural, moved the table to the right and down one tile so that there was room to stand near the sinks (while compressing room is good, you do have to give people places to stand when doing the dishes and cooking. Most kitchens have a little room to move.), thinned the bench in the kitchen (you could use the grey one instead - the metal. It would look more like a benchtop and less like a table-cloth, but this works too) and added carpet to the bottom of the stairs.

About the stairs, you either need to have carpet at the bottom of them when using the carpeted stairs or they won't look right, OR use the same flooring as the room their in.

This is looking more like a real house. Neato~ ^.^)b

I had to do a few edits here and there, but they're fun to play with.

I will admit that one thing I'm not a fan of is how there's spaces between every piece of furniture. >.<; Gaps.
Thanks a lot, Caz and Liberty! You two are so awesome! :D

But for the wall in the living room, I thought about doing it like that at first. But isn't it bad to put a long wall like that with absolutely nothing else to decorate it? :O

And LOL XD I mostly use rectangle and square maps. :P
Nah, the white-space when it comes to walls is okay. Especially in a hallway. If you think it's too blank, add a picture or two.

You can also add personal clutter around to make the house seem more lived in. Stuff like family pictures on the wall, personal items and other little bits and pieces can really help.

For example, the occupant of the below room is a warrior (armour) who likes to drink (alcohol on small table) and with a love of plants (pot plant and image of plant on the wall) who moved in recently or has very few items (the empty shelves).

If your character is a slob, add clothes on the floor, dishes left on the table and counter, cups and bowls around the house, papers and dirt on the floor... think about the people who live in the places you're making and adjust to fit them. Even if it's as simple as a 3-person family with a kid. There'd be toys at least, and cute pictures and family photos, maybe some books around too.

Is Detective posting every single map from their game in here or what..?

not only posting, but editing them according to people's wishes. A true community project :)
I'm going to make a plains map, any advice on how to make it look interesting? There'll be some ravines here and there due to seismic activity in the area, but for the most part it's a pretty flat map.
different terrain tiles help make it more lively. Check at that lockeZ's map of those cliffs.
You mean what he posted a few pages back? Those are much more mountains than plains.
I currently have this, which is a piece of a part I've somewhat finished so far. The ravines are used to mark the map's edges, but I'm not too sure what to do with the parts further away from the ravines. Since it borders with a forest, I can place some tree clusters here and there.

Nope, just the important ones that serve as backbone for the other maps. :P
Milennin, yea that's what I was talking about. Also now you have just those ravines, but how about adding some small cliffs or something? Like just one-tile high. To give some height differences.
Yeah, I could go with some of that.
I'm also adding a small lake with some islands in another corner, and 2 rivers. Hopefully that should give enough variety to the full map.

Alternatively, there are people who have a different public/private image. Visitors see the well-kept kitchen, but his bedroom is a mess. Meaning it isn't always cut and dry, but yeah that is the general.
How are the cliffs? Are they good enough, okay, or bad? :P

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Aye, you figured out how cliff heights work in RPG Maker it seems.

Next, learn how to use the shift key to make the grass go all the way up to the wall instead of having sand around it, but without messing up the edges of the dirt road.
Also, there should be yellow stone cliff tiles that work better. It's nice to see that you've worked out the height issues you had earlier, though. I'd also recommmend using the grass tile that doesn't have the dirt around it, then use the dirt tile that goes within that grass tile for the road, but at least if you're sure of this grass, use the shift method to get rid of the 'break'.

What are those events for? I can't fathom a good reason for them to be there.

If I had to guess, I'd say, probably a "cave-in" event. That or a secret entrance opening later.
