THE SCREENSHOT TOPIC RETURNS

Looks really really good!! I especially like the water for some reason.
Love it! Always great to see classy rm2k3 games.

I have yet to make a page for my game, as I feel it's too early!
Edit: It's not too early! Get three screens up there and let me subscribe so I can track your progress!
@narcodis- Thank you very much! I like the "sparkling" effect the water has over the plain water.

@Demicrusaius- Thank you as well :) it's actually a 2k game, but no one could tell that difference from a mapping screenshot :P
As for making the page, I will soon! Nice to know I'll have one follower at least :D
The game is going to be in chapters, so hopefully I will have chapter 1 out soon as the demo, as it seems people will hold interest longer if there is a semi-complete game they can sink their teeth into.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Based on just that one screenshot, it looks more like a swamp than a forest to me, but it looks good.
OSSUS: The only issue I have with that screen is the height of the ground/water edge when compared to the height of the dock. Meaning the way the ground on the waters edge is a few pixels high whilst the dock supports are much taller. It makes the dock look a tad uneven. Otherwise it looks pretty sweet! Great job~

RE: Ocean's Map - Well, granted for a 3-day game map it's pretty good. Of course you can't really mess with getting graphics perfect when you're on a very, very short time limit. (I wondered why it wasn't quite up to his usual awesome standards. ^.^; )

I've had to redo some inner maps for Land's Hope. Here's one of the newest houses.

(thx, Liberty.)
As for your map, it looks quite good, I like the tileset of the rooms and floor above, but I don't understand how the biulding works out. The wall (or roof?), less though, it's a bit heavy compared with the finesse of all the other tiles.

Edit : To come back to UPRC's map, I think it's really nice, very well done, and I like those colors, as well as am very fond of large spaces that make sense (organised nature and fields in particular are rarely overcrowded places!).

@OSSUS : I really like that swamp hutt, very atmospheric.
@LockeZ- Yeah I see what ya mean, it does look swampy. It's a forest with streams and rivers running through it here and there. So I guess some areas would be swamp-like? Thanks anyways :)

@chana- Thanks, 'm glad you think so, I edited it into the chipset and liked the way it came out. It's just scenery though, can't enter. :x

@Liberty- Didn't see your post at me! But yeah, I see what you mean. I added the dock in myself and the poistioning could be better, I'll look into it. Thank you :)
I am very sorry but "Murkwood" is not a name that you can use for a forest :< LotR is a pretty popular series and I'm sure more than one person would notice it Dx I always thought that creating new names for places was more fun anyway! (/atlantis)

Also Liberty nice lighting >>b

Edit -- This is simply so I can at least contribute to the thread :\ Bakery!

UPRC, I agree with Narcodis's stance on the RTP colors, and would also like to add that the town needs more doodad variety. Also, that big field in the middle better have a purpose, because it adds a lot of empty area.
Yeah, there are going to be vegetables growing there as well as a scarecrow somewhere. I just haven't gotten around to adding them yet. There will also be a few rugs on the rooftops too.

Yeah, that's what I'm going for. It's just a simple little village. I haven't added any NPCs or anything yet, but they'll probably perk the place up a bit by having certain patterns and routines. Maybe one working in the field, another fishing at the little "intersection" in the river, etc.

The map should look better when there are NPCs and such, but that won't be for a little while. I'm trying something I have never done before, which is map out the entire game first and then do everything else.

I'm really excited for this project because I have some fun gameplay related ideas, and it's also a breath of fresh air for me to escape from being confined to working on a homage to 1985-1994 era Final Fantasy games... but I'm pretty notorious for not finishing stuff so I'm not going to add a game page on RMN until I'm sure it's not going to bite the dust early. :p

I know, I know. ;_; I am all for a name change for the forest, I just wanted a name for a dark forest, but I agree with you!
I've also been lazy because I'd have to change a lot of text, haha. :P

I didn't immediately recognize it as being from LotR, but I definitely immediately recognized it as a name I'd heard before.

I say you name it by taking random forum members' names. Chanawood Forest. Den of Narcodis. Miracle Marsh. The Liberty Murk. Swampicrusaius.

...okay my bad advice is done. FOR NOW.

I smell a new community game!
Edit: Chanawood Forest is my favorite because of it's redundancy.

(LockeZ ")FOR NOW": you forgot LockeZ Castle and Ossusville
I just finished the basic mapping of four of my ten planned towns. This is pretty fun not having to worry about dialogue, NPC pathways, etc. at the moment!

Here are links because I don't want to devour the page.

Haha, I actually liked Chanawood, but it reminds me of pokemon Cinawood(sp?) Not bad advice, actually. :P I see it as a candid thing though, lol.
I'll probably end up using a generic fantasy name as it's the first forest/dungeon you enter.

Oh, hey Ossusville! I might use that for a village! :D

@UPRC :they're all really pretty, but a bit similar (they're awfully small for towns?).

Yeah, that's intentional. I'm leaving the cities until the end because they'll be larger, have more buildings, and be more packed. The four places I mapped are going to be the smallest settlements.
I agree with chana! Very nice maps UPRC. :)
Them being small is actually nice since they are beginning towns and whatnot.
UPRC: I like them. Sure they aren't big, but they don't really need to be. They give off an old-school feel without relying on graphics to do so. One thing I'd like to see are a few peaked roofs. Flat roofs were more for deserts and dry areas and tended to keep the heat out as well as keeping the town smaller. Think about it - there's only a certain amount of room around an oasis so having houses that were stacked atop each other (having them built up instead of out) not only provided good shade for the streets but also made more living space without the need for more buildings. Hence, skyscrapers. And I'll get back on topic now.
With Oakbrimmel, please tell me that the stilted areas of the two larger houses are accessible - like, stairs leading down into them. Otherwise they're really just wasted space. (Still adds a nice twist to the town, though.)
Great job on those, anyway! Nice to see the RTP still being loved and used~ ^.^

Miracle: That bakery looks really nice. The mack tiles are always fun to play with and they look so good when used properly - there's just so much in them. Great job Miracle, and thanks!

chana: That map is the top floor of the inn and the roof tile at the bottom is to show that. As for the rest of the roof tiles - think of it as someone took a huge knife to the top of the building and sliced off some of the roof so you could look down inside. It's basically like most inner maps, except that I used the same tiles for the roof edging as I have in the village map. I think it makes it look more cohesive. :P

ok, I figured that out,the problem is probably with the shade, the rooms seem to be lower than the rest of that floor, maybe also the fact that there's light coming from outside of the big window and none outside the small ones(?); really nice map in any case.

@Miracle : really nice little bakery, but I would take out the 2 gigantic flowers on each side of the door(?).
