Started trying to map a city. No doors yet as the interiors aren't mapped, but I think it's pretty neat that I was able to map an entire city onto one of these maps. I mean, it's not a city-city but there are 7 accessible buildings (the bottom ones have roads moving into them to make the entrances obvious) which is more than enough for an RPG town.

Looking good, and crowded; detail : you forgot to take out the border of the roads that lead to the bridges on the left side.
Yep, I also removed the rock in the river as it doesn't really look right.
The stilts under the bridges look wring since the water height is relatively low. Try just using the middle piece of that 'set' instead. It gives some depth without completely messing up the perspective.

That said, it's not a bad map at all. Very crowded and closed in. It's like you've stumbled into part of a city without needing to make the rest of it. Good job!

Is it just me, or would prexus' maps be PERFECT for a Final Fantasy Tactics-style game?

Prexus, I think you're in the process of developing what could be a very interesting mapping style.
It wouldn't be perfect for a tactics style battle system because it doesn't represent height properly. I mean, yeah, it kind of looks like a tactics map. Mainly because its a small section of a field surrounded in black. with an orthagonal mapping style, you are restricted to a heightless map for a tactical game. You need a diagonal mapping style (30/60 Isometric like FFT works well) to properly show height. On my maps, two heights that are significantly different could have two units beside each other that couldn't attack one another. You also lose a ton of playable area for things like cliffs and such.

(edit: I don't mean you can't do a tactical system on it, I just mean that visually its not good for demonstrating height and causes logic problems.)

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I can't actually tell what anything is in that screenshot except the person and the walls. Also the darkened part of the ground is so dark that, unless I look at my monitor from a really sharp angle from the side, it looks like exactly the same color as the black background.

If I could tell what anything was it'd probably be more interesting. It looks like maybe a volume indicator above the character's head? Do you step on that tile to get a radio transmission from Otacon? I guess the red thing on the right is a very small train engine (not small enough to be a toy, but small enough to be driven by, say, a miniature poodle)
Mmh... I'd say the yellow thing above the character is a spider enemy, there's a black table with a bear trap on its side and a giant bong on the top, the yellow/white stuff on the other table are dismembered kittens (where's the blood?!) and the red thing on the right is either a mutant crab-coffin enemy or a coca-cola vending machine that just exploded.
It's pretty clear that the right red thing is a Roomba, some yellowish plants are in the middle, and Megaman is just resting after having some fun with a honeycomb (above his head) and a gigantic green dildo laying on the table.

Yup, though I've ripped out the way Ace does TP and replaced it entirely with my Regrowth Options script; you get to customize how characters gain Soul Points based on equipment (although you do always gain a little each turn by default).
