THE SCREENSHOT TOPIC RETURNS
Posts
Creation, please don't post other people's edits as your own work. This is yours:

The lighting effects were made by Tim on pixelation to illustrate an example of where you can take the screen/graphics if you wish to go there. If you want to post other people's edits, at least give credit.
Edit; Top of page, more custom tile:

@King of Games: Well to be fair, he didn't state either way if it was from his own creation, but then again with that line of thought do you think that 80% of people here should give credit as well? Seems like an random call out imo. I don't think he was being disingenuous in that aspect. On the flipside, I'll probably head over to pixelation for critique from now on. :)
King Of Games: This is what I meant by After (light effect and edit):
It's not very clear however. You would have been right to call me out on it however.

Well, about people using rips, it's a separate issue. Even when making custom tiles it's different. It all comes down to the purpose of an edit. An edit is to show an example or suggestion for changes to visually communicate something that might help the push the piece further. If you take that edit, and post it on another forum, where it implies that it's your own work, to me, is not genuine.
Now you might say, oh but someone is using theodore's work, or Chrono Trigger tiles, and posting a map, is that not the same thing? It is stealing, but it's different because that's appropriation of found resources, you're showing off the map, not the tiles. This isn't even an argument about stealing graphics, it's about stealing edits, which are separate things. The edits are supposed to help the artist, not become the artist's work itself.
Also, I think that the screen looks better without the shadow. It's a mix of realism and cartoonism, and the juxtaposition is jarring. If earthbound was masked in reflective shadows, would it be the same bubbly, quirky game we all love? Surely not, but it depends what kind of overall style you want to convey in your game.

@KoG - Goddamn that's pretty. I love the.. murals? Is that the right word.
@Ephiam - Classic as always, I love that world map as well. How big is it?
@blue - That reminds me of GTAIV when you go on there internet. Very polished and I was actually surprised when almost everthing in the room could be selected.. But then I was blown away when you actually moved your character with the mouse! I'm expecting big things from this.
I am just obsessed with trains lately :D

@Tau
I'm not quite getting the leftmost column of tiles. It looks like you're trying to simulate an overpass, but the perspective is off.
Or is the track supposed to be dead ended at that wall? If so, that train conductor is one skilled mofo.

Yeah, really, what a terrible place to have a wall! Hahaha. That conductor is indeed the most skilled in the land, no?
Also, the World Map its self is 400 x 300. Once I complete it, I'll have to find a way to get a screenshot of the entire thing and post that. It will also be much better to have for some players rather than the map that I drew in paint that was used as a base. Namely because some locations changed positions, and a lot of places look much different in shape and what-not.

The music was made by myself (TM).
Sorry for the mix of English and German - you will choose the language in the full version of this game.
oops. uh, i wasn't supposed to post here. but uh, nice screens everyone. I would post some custom tiles i've been making instead of, you know, something substantial, but uh...
that's a nice shrine, KoG, although I fear that in typical rpgfashion, it's alot bigger on the inside? (then again when the panda joins you it would make sense right?)

Agreed; it's the bottom-most part of that ceiling edge. Otherwise the shot looks terrific.
Meanwhile, in the Abyss: SLAY THE BITCH
(Getting closer to a battle demo fo' sho'.)
@Itaju - Wow, that was just fucken beautiful. Everything from how smooth the animations were, to the enemy interaction, subtlety of the Hud. Oh and that menu is so polished, I literally couldn't find something wrong with it unless I was being awfully picky. So yeah, no complaints.. Well aside from not knowing the significance of the puzzle pieces that is :D
@Dyhalto - Best in all the land they say. Not even the Phantom Train could disrupt his awesome conducting skills.
@KoG - That means I'm either ruining the topic or bringing joy to people around the world.. I choose to believe the latter :D
@Craze - Thank you. It's just looking better every time I see it. I'm now just playing the waiting game for this abyss you promised ;D
@Fugue - Haha thanks.
@Ephiam - Damn, 400x300 now that's a world map to explore.

Forte is quite beautiful, I wonder what it looks like in the rain.
@Itaju: Very nice looking. What Engine? I really hope not 2k3...

Well, it is 2k3, why? is it bad? :D
Tile based action gameplay with rm2k3 hit detection is bad. I gave up convincing people of this. tldr: game maker, construct or MMF2
