THE SCREENSHOT TOPIC RETURNS
Posts
Serious post. Agreed with the two posts above. Seriously, this would be like getting pissy over someone naming their game "The Two Towers" after naming your own game that.
There's a game out there called Black Moon Prophecy. Same title as mine, only Blackmoon isn't one word. I just shrugged a shoulder and said, "well, looks like someone thinks up names in the same manner that I do." ... and then I moved on. Who cares if someone has the same name? If you trust that people can see past the names then that should be enough for you.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Is theirs a Sailor Moon fangame?
There's bound to be out there somewhere, LockeZ. ^.^ (and I read that wrong.)
If you don't want people to have the same name try going a bit more obscure. (I can't say anything about original names since one of my best games is Dungeon Crawl... ^.^; )
Of course, if it's an actual word you've made up (say, oh, Celdran and even that's a last name, apparently) then you can call them out on it. But only then. Babylon was an actual place. A sword is an actual item often found in fantasy settings. I wouldn't bet on there not being a few Sword of Babylon's out there.

@NoAcceptance - My games name is everywhere, Uncharted 2, A novel, Sly Cooper, I think Thief series, TV episodes, movies, and now Rpg Maker! It's a sickness I tell you.

Urban Dictionary definition for "Sword of Babylon"
1. A sexual act of undefined beauty. With his ladyfriend naked on all fours, the man, gripping a medium to large dildo akin to a javelin thrower, from the rear, inserts the sexual accesory into either of the lady's lovezones with an oscillating stroke.
"I pulled out the old sword of babylon last night boys. She was loving it, it was just the ticket!"
Added to Urban Dictionary on Jul 20, 2006, several years before you began working on your game. You are clearly ripping off this guy's dildo javelin throwing sexual act with your game! Terrible.
Uh, but seriously, here's a screenshot guys. This is an area called "The Spike Pit" which I made for Soul Shepherd by Zombero. It'll replace the first area in the game, since the one in his demo is quite bad.

author=LockeZNobody ever used the name "Sword of Babylon" so I used it.Next thing I know is that some totally cheesy 3d game is using it after I used it first.
Yeah uh, the name is two thousand years old, you didn't come up with it, I'm sure there are thousands of other things with the same name
I don't want my game to ever be thought of when that horrid game comes to mind.I'm still trying to get the awful taste out of my mouth.

Ooooh yeah....:D
Wow, really cool map LockeZ, spikes everywhere..someone had better not alert Mortal Kombat to this! :o
Here are two screenshots from the horror game I'm doing:
^ With that one you have to hide yourself somewhere before the green monster finds you. If he finds you, you're dead. (You're on a time limit, too. If you fail to hide in that time limit, it'll go up to you and, well, kill you.)
And with this one you have to use items to proceed in the game. (Obviously with this one you need to find a mouse.)
I know the mapping still needs some work, but I'm focusing on the initial eventing side first before that; it makes it much easier in the long run!

@LockeZ Some of the spikes/stalagsomethings looked like cardboard cut-outs to me at first.
Can we please just compliment Itaju's awesome puzzle piece world and move on from swords and dicks thank you

author=NightowlHa. Probably a result of my not using shadows for basically anything. But I think, as an art style, having no shadows is more consistent than having shadows for 60% of things that should cast shadows. And therefore better? Well, I don't know if it's better, but it bothers me less.

Alternately, of course, I could add shadows for everything. But that would be a massive pain in the ass. Especially getting shadows for moving sprites to look right when they're on any surface except flat ground. Though in the end, I do still use shadows for flying characters/enemies...
@Fugue: Hmm, that's really purple. Consider using more black and less purple in the tint. It's also really hard to make out the guy behind the trunk - is he in like a red mage costume with a mask, or is he dead and decapitated with a piece of his brain on the ground? Lighten the fog and it'll be clearer. Otherwise, I think it looks good.
i sometimes think my monitor brightness varies from that of others. on my screen both the open, blood soaked car trunk and the corpse are clearly visible.
thx for the input, anyway. the tint at least is easy to fix, as is the fog opacity.

remember that playing it in fullscreen is way different than viewing a still shot on a bright forum.

dear god dithering batman, might want to think about material/texture when shading those portraits.
Yeah, seriously. The sprites are great but the portrait could be way smoother -- try smoothing out the hair and skin especially. The eyes look good, but some stuff like the eyebrows are really awkward.
author=Tauauthor=UPRCYes indeed. Thanks :)
Interesting cave, Tau. Is that for the Halloween event?
Yes I know the sprite doesn't blend that well, but hey, I'm trying to finish this thing.
I have a lot nostalgia vibes here :D

I agree with the smoothness... Though I dont know if you can make this any smoother quickly, only if you redraw it. But I can't see any problem with her eyebrows...
But now a screenshot: I am working now on the intro of my game. I made a starfield, and an asteroid, both will be present in the opening cutscene. I would like to get some feedback about the looks and feel (I will add more details later):

@Scalytank: Nice asteroid, looks good. I have no advice except to keep doing what you're doing.
@Pneumatic: Is that pile of red blocks an enemy or a spell? I'm having a hard time imagining either one. Characters look very good, with the possible exception of the monk's fighting pose, which looks more like dancing the robot than performing kung fu. He might want to drop to a lower stance, and upgrade to a new barber. Are they edits or original?
