@SnowOwl: Do you mean me...?
Yes I mean you. If it isn't here's some advice:
You keep posting incomplete screenshots and when people call you out on stuff that you say is "incomplete" (which probably isn't the case, you just don't see the problem yourself and use it as an excuse) you say you will do at a later date.
You then post the screenshot AGAIN without fixing it.
And be honest if you are bad at spriting so that people won't suggest changes you are unlikely to be able to make. I'm pretty sure there are plenty of more people that can't sprite, judging by the amount of RTP games on the site.
Just finish the frigging fixes you say you are going to do and THEN post the screenshot again (if you still want feedback at that point).

PS: I'm a girl. =)
PS. I don't give a shit if you are a girl. Why would that matter?
Ignore Pizza, dear, I think he's just being sarcastic. And try not to take Dookie to heart - he's being a bit of a jerk.
@Dookie - don't. Just stop being an ass. Injury is injury. If someone's in pain of course they're not in the mood to do much. She already said she's having trouble using her hand so leave it. You're not the one with that exact injury so you have no right to judge - unless you're her doctor but I doubt that's the case.
There's nothing to say she can't show off her graphics and not listen to what you have to say whether she's injured or not, either. That's her prerogative. And when she's already said 'okay, yeah, I hear what you're saying but I can't at the moment' then let it go. She's acknowledged your point so what's the beef? That she can't instantly fix everything? Fuck that. No-one instantly does what someone else recommends - and they shouldn't.
They should first reflect on whether that 'fix' is something their project needs or what they want. There's a precious balance when it comes to critique - a person should listen to it, yes, but they should also look at their game objectively and decide whether it's relevant or not.
Frankly, take your time and when your hand mends I recommend making the lights a bit brighter with a more blurred affect. Also, there are pertinent points about the table and bed, but again, if you're not up to changing it yet, don't fret. Do it later (or not at all, it's your choice).
E:- I do agree with Snowowl on the point that showing off the same screen without changes defeats the point of asking for critique. I wouldn't go so far as to say that you have to listen to that critique but some of these guys, despite their gruffness in answering, are right about the table and bed. And, well, editing can be annoying and hard at times but projects end up looking a lot better for them. And the practice definitely helps make you better at it in the long-run.
Don't strain your injury, though. It's okay to leave it until your hand is better.
Also, if you'd like a certain something focussed on critique-wise, it's best to make that very clear when you post up the image. People will still feel the need to point out things beside that, though. And if you already know of an issue in a screenshot, best to put up that you know and will/have fix/ed - it makes them skip over it.
@SnowOwl - pretty sure she responded about being a girl because she was called 'son', not because she wants special treatment. I've done the same thing quite a bit - it's the lot of the RMGirl that she has to correct people when they use male terms when referencing you. I hear there are even some guys who have to do it because their avatars make people assume they're girls. XP

Hey, don't tell people to ignore me.
I'm not being sarcastic. One of the worst things RM teaches people is to try and finalize everything in chronological order. I know, because I'm a victim of that methodology and only just starting to teach myself differently.
If anything, she should just forget about the wonky graphics for the time being and leave them as WIP, but maybe just note that they need fixing. Finish the actual "core" of the game first and then do the bullshit aesthetic stuff later.

Ah, see, I thought you were being sarcastic. Sorry about that~
But yes, what Pizza just said is true. Get a rough estimation down then refine. Though, if you want to finalise first that's okay too, just remember to judge that by the last stuff you put in the game and see if it needs a revamp to match.

This is a free exchange of ideas, "Liberty".
DO take me to heart, Begriff. I may be a bit forward, but I'm really trying to help. I even edited (poorly) the tiles to show you what I meant specifically on the last page.
I'm not wasting my time posting this stuff for fun, I'm tired of seeing that map look the same. (below average).
I touched on the lighting a little earlier, but heres what I mean.
Here was the old lighting from 1/28

Heres the "new lighting effect" 2/9

This is no improvement. I'd say stop screwing with the lights and get the room 100% before you light it. BUT HEY DO WHATEVER YOU WANT IN WHATEVER ORDER YOU WANT
People are too nice. They won't be straight up with you, I will.
Speaking of which, your cutscene screen.
The art looks fine enough (is it static or is there some kind of animation?),
I'd personally ditch the voice acting idea, and just stick with text. Even a lot of commercial voice acting is facepalm level embarrassing and unnecessary,(not to mention a lot of work). I like to read at my own pace and internalize the dialogue, but thats a personal preference.

They told me I was mad when I said I was going to create a spidertable. Who’s laughing now!!!

You realize there's a lot of ground between "too nice" and "honest but a jerk," right?
Have updated the desert that I put forth before. Got rid of the way the water interacted with the grass. Here I used a clay barrier between the sand and the water.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

That's a big improvement and looks really good!
Your tileset is pretty impressive, I especially like the shadows under the palm trees.
That character looks like a one year old infant in blue footy pajamas.

@kory toombs, the waters much better now. I just feel that the builds bottom edge is too rough compared to the sand.
@kory - I think making that new clay border a few shades lighter would do wonders.
Also consider warming up the colors in the stone. a little more red/brownish and less purple blue would help tie it all together.

It doesn't look bad how it is, but if you wanted to change the bottom edge of the building, something like this might work:
I just smudged the sand up a little in random spots with the photoshop smudge tool. You could probably do a better job since you have all the layers and stuff (maybe by erasing the building instead).

I like the way the water looks now too. The colour of the clay might be a bit rough though for the light feel of the sand though (like dookie said.) Though its much better. Might use this as one of my three pictures whenever I finish this thing. Who knows.

Nah, you ain't derailin'. This is what the topic's for. Posting screenshots and arguing about them.
Seriously consider making the building's walls be in the shape of a building's walls, at least. No building in the world is shaped like that. The wall between the left room and the right room is as thick as an entire room, which is sort of crazy and is what makes me say you forgot you weren't making a cave. Rooms in buildings are separated by walls, not by empty void zones surrounded by walls. And the shape of the left room has a bunch of very bizarre small zigzags in it - rooms are typically either rectangular or L-shaped, so that the entire building will end up as something vaguely, um, building-shaped. I assume the building is meant to be rectangular, if it's using the same graphics outside as
your other buildings you have in that outdoor town screenshot.
The other building inners actually are exact rectangles and are pretty conventional. The house inner was tweaked a little bit to serve the needs of a plot important scene, specifically where someone "peeks" around the corner. Your points are very helpful, so we are trying to figure out how to synergize the function of the house (to serve the scene) and making it correct proportionally.

Yeah I know there are 3 levels, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, and Simon Cowell.

It's all I got so far. Background art by bonbonbunny not me.
@Tau
Background art? What background art? I think you should demand a refund because I can use the gradient tool for free!
Just joking, I'm guessing you mean the character is part of the background art?
It's not bad I guess. But then again, it's not very memorable either. It looks like a really generic RPG character, to be honest. The style is kinda standard anime thingy too, I guess. Isn't that one of the RTP characters? I may be wrong since I haven't played many RTP games so correct me if I'm wrong.

@SnowOwl: It is Alex, the main RTP hero from RPG Maker 2003.
There is currently a contest to make an hour long game using only RTP heroes and RTP final bosses.
@Erave: I do understand the dilemma when gameplay requires one thing and realism requires another. If you can't find a compromise, realism gets the short end of the stick. (Which is for the best, typically.)
You could have more complex building shapes with multiple rooms if your buildings were shaped differently on the outside, but they're not, so you might be stuck with something weird. Depending on the cut scene, though, you might be able to just condense that black void zone between the two rooms into being only one tile wide. So it looks more like a one-tile-thick wall instead of a 30x30x30 foot cube of megawall.

I'm pretty sure its for the current event which is based on the RTP characters so...
It's a neat rendition of Alex.
