THE FEATURED GAME THREAD
Posts
OH, I arealyd did it earlier and gave it to MOONSONG but I'll put it on the list! I've still gotta do the other stuff but I'm gonna wait for a day til my face is back to semi-normal now that tooth has been pulled.
If the full version of The Lady Puppet is even half as good as the demo, I would definitely be behind that game being featured! However, I do not want to put undue pressure on OldPat to get it into a completed state in a rush.

With that said, how about a Dev Spotlight? It's a good time for it, what with a completed demo up and the full game not terribly far away. A few months, I think?

There's also that - full games only can be featured games/game spotlights.
Whoops, forgot this detail. And yes, Dev Spotlight I think would be good for it!

Really, I'm pretty confident that Homework Salesman was featured before it was completed.

Granted, I don't specifically remember when Homework Salesman was featured, but, here's an archive.org capture of Homework Salesman's gamepage from 2013. Flagged "complete" but not yet featured. The next capture archive.org has for it is this one, in 2015, where it's been tagged as a featured game, still very much flagged as "complete".

Nope, it's always been for completed games only! The idea being that people don't have to wait to play the Next Cool Thing.
Homework Salesman was an "Act 1" situation, kind of like Love & War.
...and just like Love & War, it's also an "Only" situation.

I'm pretty sure it was episode 1 / 3 completed, or something like that at the time. It's not the same anymore, so it's hard to verify. And it's really hard to say that about games that have been featured a really long time ago, like before Liberty was the GM. (I actually found a Cancelled game there.)
But since I want to be 100% proven right:
Befuddle Quest VII: Advent Children was officially featured and if you click the link you can find it under featured games, and it doesn't even have a game page.
kentona has gone on record saying that "Canceled" is a kind of "Complete". Archive.org has no captures of Befuddle Quest 7 - Advent Children's gamepage being available, so, I cannot comment on what status it had, and when. However, it's fairly safe to say it's been canceled at this point.
*Edit: You may have an argument if we're talking about Beetle Ninja, which was a more recent feature, and has not yet been flagged as complete. It probably should be?

Yup you're 100% proven right. BQ7 feature was definitely not just an April's fool joke that was immediately replaced by SRW2: Yoshi's Archipelago, which is the next game of the list.
But yeah the secret to having a game marked Complete is just making Episode 1/Chapter 1/Act 1

Actually, that was done for April Fools day one year. I just loaded the front page up with all things kentona as a joke. It lasted maybe 2-3 days before being replaced, so you really can't use that as an example~
Beetle Ninja was known to be completed when it was featured, it just hadn't been marked as such.

I would have put Lady Puppet for devspot but there's not really any updates for it lately.
Okay, so devspots - for future reference - are picked from blog posts on the games (because that's what they link back to) and usually focus on a game that has something going on atm. That can be a new demo release, upcoming full release, asking for community help with something, getting released on steam, etc etc etc.
In this case, there was a game asking for community help so... I gave it the spot.
I have no fear that Lady Puppet will, once complete, get a spot as at the very least a spotlit game and, if of a high quality, eventually feature. So please don't be bummed by this decision - it just didn't fit the definition I look for when it comes to devspots atm.
