The Bond of Combat

Hello players!
This time I'm back with a RPG Maker VX Ace game made for the 2020 Valentiny event by Lavendersiren. To tell the truth this game was suggested to me by someone many months ago, then I forgot, until I saw recently a playthrough on youtube! And sooo... I remembered! That's why I am here.

Now, the event imposed one particular restriction: the limit of only one map for the entire game! For this reason do not expect that will be a long adventure, 20 minutes will be enough to complete is, so if you have half an hour of free time try it!
Anyway let's see what's the plot of the game and its protagonists.


Take this evil creature!!! You know what? This is my most hated rpgmaker monster!

Did I say protagonists? Well, yes, it's a game made for the Valentiny event, so it had to be about a couple: Thoren and Raine are in love, but when Thoren tries to microwave a heart-shaped steak for their romantic Valentine's day (of course!) dinner they're mysteriously sent to another world.
We start playing as Raine, but do not worry, this is not a rescue mission. Thoren is soon found, but unfortunately this place is infested by some hostile creatures! The encounter with a mysterious being named Blizzelle may give some answer to our couple about the place in which they're lost, and maybe a chance to go back home...

Luckily four our lovely couple they can fight pretty well, and I really loved the presence of some special skills like "protect your partner" and "kiss your wife", because they're nor only cute, but also useful in combat! Raine is a powerhouse that can unleash a terrible rage, while Thoren can heal kissing, but this also quells Raine's rage! The two have abilites that use MPs (mana points) or TPs (tactical points), but do not worry this isn't a combat intensive game: all encounters are fixed, and battles aren't too difficult, still do not underestimate the opposition!

Visually the game is simple, but done competently: the map isn't too big but it's hand drawn and pretty, there are some RTPs and edited assets but the game has a certain coherence, and I also liked how the "valentiny" theme is constantly reminded by small hearts on the map, black fading screens with heart shaped shadows, the dancing lights, and so on. Cute! I also liked the music selection for this game!


Well, we can still have the romantic dinner in this hostile dimension!

Final Verdict
This is a short cute game with a lovely couple protagonist, a little lighthearted scenario really well done and charming. Despite the shortness I liked some events and dialogues (like Blizzelle getting angry if you ignore her and try to progress!). I cannot say much more since it's pretty short, or I'd spoil the fun of discovery, so try it!
