Update complete: New features

Hi everyone, here are the new features in Saving The Planet: 90's Style

  • Arial font (I personally prefer the appearance of it)

  • Clothes are no longer upgraded, instead you buy kits from the people instead. These can increase your damage output, defense, magical defense, and agility. Adjust the difficulty of the game with these, to your preference.

  • A new boss battle when entering the final area. I've actually had this graphic on hand for a while, but never had a need for it.

  • Each character now has their own Planet Power skills. These get upgraded versions as they level up.

  • Chance of item drops have been doubled. I finished with a whole mess of status protection rings.

  • Small typo fixes.

I think these are all the changes I've made to the game.

Update in the works

Hi everyone

Just to say that a new update is in the works. Changes include:

  • Item drop chances have been halved, and some even more than that.

  • Dungeons have been simplified, much less likely to get lost in them.

  • The font has been changed.

  • Party can be changed in-between battle, and all characters get experience. No "start from level 1" punishment if you decided not to use a certain character for a portion of the game!

  • Characters now have their own special attacks "Planet Powers", using PP. Stronger versions of the skills become available as characters level up.

A very 90's update

Hi everyone

Just a small update here. Firstly, all characters in the game are no longer chibi style, except for the kids. Why should the kids be as tall as the adults?

Secondly, if you're like me, and born in the mid 80's or earlier/ a bit later than that, you're probably very familiar with the sound of logging into dial up internet. That sound which happened when Laura used her computer early in the game was meant to emulate that.

Well, I've recently found the sound effects section on Pixabay, so now there's a genuine dial up internet sound recording when she logs in. Very 90's! :)

Anyway, hope you enjoy the update.

References make a return

Hi everyone

Due to the fact that I decided not to put Saving the Planet: 90's Style on Steam, I've returned the Captain Planet references to the game.

Gaea, Captain Planet (Known as C-Planet), Looten Plunder, Zarm, Verminous Skumm, that kind of thing.

Update for Steam preparation

Hi everyone

I'm planning on putting Saving the Planet: 90's Style on Steam in a few weeks or months (when I have the spare money). It's mostly only been audio changes this time round (taking out for non-commercial use tracks), along with the title screen which now has the legal information on it, and a credit to the creators of Captain Planet and the Planeteers, Ted Turner and Barbara Pyle.

I've also made an official trailer for it which is on YouTube, you can see the embed on the game page. I'll also be using this for the trailer on Steam.

Only one gameplay bug has been found and fixed. You could go into the Sumina Mines ahead of Fraude Shakedon's episode, this is no longer possible.

NOTE: Please ignore what I said about Steam. I've had a look at all the legal things and such on Steam earlier today, and I've decided against it. It seems like more trouble than it's worth when I was only planning to get a few dollars from this. I'm instead going to put that money most likely towards rpgmaker.net and keep putting my games here.

Yet another update

Realised that there were some messed up images in Farlbina from when I changed the wooden floors to carpets in the apartments. Didn't affect the game in any way but it looks better now.

Latest (hopefully last) update - Errors fixed

Thanks to the latest feedback I've received I've been able to fix the following bugs in the game that I was unaware of.

1. The lift in one of the apartment buildings in Farlbina has been fixed. Removing the glitch of going to non-existent floors. (this was a remaining from when they had more floors)

2. The Jet Ring can now be equipped. (protects against blind)

3. An enemy which never featured in the game has been removed from the bestiary, which made it impossible to complete. (please note the final two entries are from the final boss battle so will never be shown to be complete)

4. The corridor in the civic centre in Harelsha can't be accessed until the episode with Faik-Doubledeal. After the scene with Faik-Doubledeal it can no longer be accessed. Previously, the door to the corridor remained unlocked for the entirety of the game.

Minor fix

Hi everyone.

Thanks to a post, I've found out that I screwed up the Topaz Ring in the game. It now prevents paralyse status like it should have done.

Fifth demo released - one more to go

Hi everyone

Just to let you know that the fifth demo of "Saving the Planet: 90's Style" has been uploaded.

Considering that the final episode is going to be quite short and direct compared to the previous ones, I've decided to group it with episode six. If I did do it separately, it would likely be put up less than a week later after episode 6.

I expect this last demo, a.k.a the completed game, to be uploaded by or before the end of the month. I'm making a push to get this project done now.

Cheers
