Personal dislikes, and old story outline

This was my story plan for chapter 3 way back in december last year before it underwent a complete revamp in january. And has no connection to the revised story.

Town-Laura chaplin recieves a letter from decibel revealing their current whereabouts after being on the run for a month from the authority's. She meets them up with them at a local church to talk about the whereabouts of Drusila and the death of square eyes after Rufu's being destroyed. It's not long after Jessica Loveless arrives and precedes to burn down the town and attack the gang inside the church. All of them escape expect for dante who safices himself to hold her off.

Flashback to meeting the angel, in which it is revealed that Drusila is using Johnathan Dilkens as a vessel of hatred so that she could use him to summon the devil by killing the vessel of hope. Who surprise surprise turns out to be Decibel.

Flashforward back to a underground passage where we see Cizzla being cut off from Leiko and Decibel by a cave in. The two girls dig their way up to a field where we see Jessica holding Dante hostage (by some super stong chains) and gives a ultiaium to decibel that she could either cut off Leiko's head and thus get the whereabouts of Drusila or that she kills them all right here and now. Out of desperation Decibel agrees to her terms.

Meinwhile Cizzla finds a alternative route out of the cave in and comes across Meg and Josepth in which it is revealed that they're considering betraying Drusila. Meg and Cizzla head off to Drusila's location whislt Josepth goes and tell Decibel and Leiko about where Drusila is hiding.

Back to the hostage situration we see Decibel drawing her sword getting ready for that fatal slash to leiko. When suddenly we see josepth jump out of nowhere and cut dante free, Josepth shouts out Drusilas location (happens to be Canary Walf) and precedes to duel Jessica untill he is brutally killed, however it was enough time for the three heroes to escape.

London-All three of them assemble outside Canary Walf and procede to climb the tower like complex. Jessica catches up with them and duels with both Dante and Leiko whilst Decibel heads up on her own.

Rooftop-Decibel reaches the top floor and meets up with Meg and Cizzla, after a short conversation leiko and Dante rushes into the scene retreating from jessica. Cizzla decides to sacfice himself in teleporting jessica and himself to the demon world

Final fight- Decibel fights and kills Johnathan Dilkens whilst dante, meg and leiko fight off a (out of the blue!) Demon army. After Johnathans death drusila teleports away when she realished her plans had failed.. (Leave the door open to a sequel) and meg comes in with a airship and fly off after Carnay Walf expodes... The end!

Now the reasons why I didnt wanted to conclude with this storyline is simple... It sucked!
Like Decibel turning out to be the chosen one is too predictable. And one of the main characters was Dante from Devil may cry! Now I'm absolutly against Fan games as it just glorified Fan fiction at the end of the day and just show's a lack of imagination... I beleive it was a mistake by throwing in Dante in chapter 2 so the best way I'm remedying this is to have him written out of the story as soon as possible. One of the most annoying things was thinking how I can do justice to such a well known gaming icon..short answear
you just can't do it :(

There was also no explantion on how Jessica knew about Drusila, wanting to kill everyone and how she knew Leiko... So instead I upgraded her as a party member and have growing tensions throughout the chapter between Leiko and jessica working together against a commen foe. The number one change was killing off the (over the top) Johnathan Dilkens who was a whiny character in the second chapter. But the core reason for doing that was to highlight how many people that Decibel had failed in saving and how it is going to be ever so damaging to her psyche as the story progresses..

The one massive change I made was the overall predictament the player will find themsevles in. For example adding a massive demon invasion on the human realm and making everything more epic in a sense. Also I decided to add seven new villains to the mix representing the circle of nine as a demon super group (a big nod to Metal gear solid's foxhound, cobra and the beauty and Beast bosses of thier respective games) slight spoiler Cizzla and Drusilla are the other two members who are in exile ;o
My number one worry is if it would offend chistians for glamorizing demons in such a way :|

Now this represents the first quarter of the chapter.. when the game reaches the hour mark everything is turned on it's head by a plot twist in which the whole mood of the game would be changed as the player will explore the mythos of Waking dead.. Seriously it is the equivalent to bioshocks "would you kindly?" twist but instead of testing the players notion of gameplay it will be about the typical Flashback narrative structure that most games and films ultlise without thinking about how it would relate to the characters/player other than showing backstory... I'm that confident of pulling this off :)

Now the introduction of minigames and different types of gameplay is purely based on my growing skills as a developer, for example I'm currently working on The final boss sequence where instead of turn based battles it evolves into a street fighter style brawler using a hell of a lot of complex animations and a very impressive finishing move

A little bit like this but not soo epic

The reasons why I'm doing redesigns for all my characters is just simply to have a change of wardrobe for them. Like in many games you see the one same character wearing the same outfit throughout their 40hour plus Rpg adventure.. so it only makes sense to add some change every once and a while, also if you play through the chapter 3 demo you would notice that some of the characters have mouths, this is just my personal perferance to sprites and charctersets as I dislike the fact that you can't see a mouth on the main playable character... what do they speak out of their nostials or something?

I also noticed (unintentionally) that I made the majority of the cast female.. I think it's mostly based on my real life relations with women and how I grew up with a single parent. I think glamorising girls as sex objects in Jrpgs is very off the mark and sends out the wrong message about the creators intentions and just looks like the developer is reaching out for something ...insert innuendo

Also back to my old story outline I was planning on doing frequent short episodes as a follow up.. in a sort of television style format where I would pump out a 20 minute adventure every two weeks. But I scapped the idea based on the fact that I'll have to sacfice my friends and everyday life for such a commitment.. It would of been a awesome idea. But I think with the sort of ending I have in mind now it would be pretty tricky to produce a sequel.

After completing this I think I'll just sever my ties to making rpg games and retire as a graphic artist and just do game collaborations. So if anyone likes my Charactersets then give me a message and I'll gladly lend a hand.. however I would banter for adding mouths to the poor chaps :D

Ok if you managed to read up to this far in my blog I would like to apolgise for anything I said that would offend you. This is just my twisted personal opinion on trends in the current usage of rpgmaker.. however it dosn't mean that I am wrong in anyway :P
