It's "Hero's Realm" with a storyline!

The Legend of Denadel is made by Deckiller.
It is another old-school style game similar to Kentona's "Hero's Realm" or Square Enix's "Final Fantasy 6"
As it currently stands, the only thing playable is a short demo (no more than a couple of hours long). Despite this, I personally find it acceptable and well worth my time.
Story: 3.5 out of 5 (could potentially later become a 4.5 or 5 out of 5)
I had the privilege of having access to insider info. The story, in my opinion is probably one of the games greater aspects...though, you probably wouldn't know it from what can be seen in the demo. Just trust me on this--if Deckiller ontinues the Legend of Denadel, you'll find yourself agreeing with me. Hell, if you don't believe that Deckiller can write a damn good story, you'd better go play his other game, Carlsev Saga. You WILL be impressed. I guarantee it. But, as for what the current demo has to offer, the player is pretty much left with a cliffhanger. Nice suspense-inducing tactic there, to say the least!
Gameplay: 4 out of 5
I love the way Deckiller did the dungeons in the game. Okay...yeah, so there's only one dungeon in the current demo (not counting the opening dungeon), but I certainly approve of it's design! The only random encounter occur on the world map--the enemies in the dungeon can be seen and arbitrarily avoided. Also, there are locked doors in the dungeon that prevent the player from going forth before finding the appropriate key. Puzzles, yeah, they're there (I can't remember any of them off-hand, though). Basically, I remember loving the dungeon design and hoping most of the other dungeons being set up in a similar manner. Great job here, Deckiller! =D
Characters: 3 out of 5
Probably the third strongest point of the game is it's characters. The Legend of Denadel is a community game, and the various members of RMN have signed up to be featured as the playable characters. For some of the characters, their attitude in the forums reflect their character's personality (I think). However, without even factoring that variable in, the game's characters are diverse and enjoyable.
Sound: 3.5 out of 5
In terms of sound and music, the biggest complaint I can see people having is the fact that the Legend of Denadel uses both midi music and MP3's. I've used this formula in a few of my own games and I have to wonder what the stigma is towards it; I find it acceptable. If anything, it puts emphasis on the tracks that ARE MP3's, giving them a heightened degree of importance or effect. I'm sorry, but I approve of this merger of media. Overall, the music and sounds effects are just fine.
Graphics: 3 out of 5
Probably the least impressive thing about the game is the graphics...but that does not at all mean the graphics are bad. Yes, it's completely RTP, but Deckiller uses the RTP graphics well and the maps appear nice and clean. The dungeons, too. All of the enemies are ripped from Final Fantasy 6, but there's also nothing bad about that; the enemy and battle sprites look well and blend well together. So, there's not much to say about graphics, but most of it is acceptable. Oh, and also, the Legend of Denadel uses nifty, custom-made tutorial boxes when necessary; it is worth mentioning because it's much quicker and more pleasant than reading a long, text-based tutorial.
In short, this demo of The Legend of Denadel is enjoyable and, if you enjoy old-school RPG games, you might want to give it a few hours of attention. If it doesn't impress you, then at least it won't bore or disgust you. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Especially that boss fight. Oh man...

Maybe it's the dragon in the title screen, but I've always considered playing this. Good review, so perhaps I will. Although I did lol at this:
It could be just me, but it seemed funny to lump "Hero's Realm" and its old-school style with FFVI which was actually old-school.
