Annoyed with the incompetence of his minions, King Bowser heads down the fix the problem with Kammy right behind him. Little did they know that this little disturbance would become a big problem, and Castle of the Koopa would soon be the stage for the fight fate of their world!

Dumb question. How?
Vista or Windows 7:
Right Click -> Install

Anything older:
Drag & Drop into
C:\Windows\Fonts
or
Control Panel -> Fonts
thank you kind sir
Edit: By the way, loved the last game. Combat was lacking, but that's a fault of 2k3.

Yeah, we added as much as we could to the battle system but it was too limited. Hopefully Starlite Worlds can make up for that.
Yeah the combat's much better but there's still a couple problems.

1. It takes way too many hits to kill mooks. It should take 1 or 2 hits to kill a basic enemy or else the battles drag on.

2. Mario and Luigi's action commands take too long to show up also ruining the pace or battles. It should show up instantly.

3. Not actually a complaint about the battle system, but i think the rendition of the BiS Mario and luigi Battle theme is terrible. But that's just me.
1. For the overall balance of the game, you might have to level up a little at the beginning but it fixes itself.
2. We will consider getting rid of the fade in/outs or make them faster.
3. As far as I'm concerned, we're doing you guys a favor by using less mp3's. Swap any music you like with other versions if it's really that bad.
When this game is completed i want to play this game already?????!!!
So I played the 1.1 demo and I found the game to be enjoyable. However as soon as I played the 2.0.2 demo's battle system I found it to be completely lacking in several areas.
The writing of the game itself is quite good as well as entertaining. This however does not save the game's quality due to the nature of the battle system.
The system in question I have found to be flawed in such ways:

1. The 'guard' is entirely unreliable and I have no idea when I should actually press the A key because the game does not point out when you should nor does it make it obvious because I press a few frames before the enemy hits me. I have guarded a few times occasionally however those were entirely by accident and I can not recreate them.
2. Some enemy attack animations actually hurt you before the animation even plays the "Hit" effect.
3. The battle system could use a lot of work because of most battles feeling sluggish and incredibly dragged on due to enemies taking repeated hits as well as the timing system being slow; an example is when Mario jumps back and waits there for a split second for the timing to pop up. The commands that pop up may also be very sketchy as occasionally it will fail even when the command is done.
The victory dance is also exceedingly long.
4. Money gained from battles is also rather low, I could not equip myself properly without grinding for quite awhile; this is also dragged on by point number 3.
5. The 'Refresh' ability also is quite random as it may flip to a poison mushroom several times in a row or quickly flip to a flower before flipping to a poison. The ability also has glitched on me during a fight and the picture vanished entirely leaving me to guess what it was supposed to show.

The basic premise and the whole idea behind the project is excellent and the cutscenes are superb, but the fact remains that 50% of the gameplay in most RPGs are spent on the battling. I could not find myself having fun and often got frustrated at the ridiculous quirks as noted above. As a critic would say, 'This requires polish,' and quite a lot of it. I still commend you for the effort and your skills as a writer, but it's completely overshadowed by the aggravation caused by the list.
Thanks for playing the game. A lot of those issues have been fixed or are being worked on in the latest build. The guard system has gone through several changes, and now is a lot easier to perform and reliable. The "Hit" effect timing has been standardized so you won't run into the issues before.

Overall, the battle system gets better as you get farther into the game. In the beginning, it feels sluggish because you're doing the same attack over and over. As you progress, you'll get new skills and abilities that'll change the dynamics of the battle. Refresh is supposed to be a little unreliable since it only cost 1 Star Point, and a better version will become available later in the game.

Money becomes more abundant later, and we've even increased some of the money drops for older enemies. That being said, the idea was that equipment wasn't supposed to be easily affordable at the beginning of the game because it was unnecessary.

We GREATLY appreciate your comments on cutscenes and dialog, because, as you mentioned, that may be our strong suit but no one ever compliments it!
Ummmm... I have a HUGE problem/error on the prologue. I can't get past the tutorial part where it tells you how to break bricks with bowser. the instruction says "wait until z pops up and press it with good timing." I tried everything; i 'pressed' it with the mouse; literally pressed the z button on my keyboard; and even went to the controls look at which button had the 'z' function and it didn't work. the field action button didn't work either. please help; because i do wanna get further. and btw i pretty sure i had the timing perfect.
So you held A when walking to the block to bring up the timing, right? Then you pressed Z when the Z button came up? That should be it.
Anyone have a status update as to where this game is at as far as completion, beta testing?
There's still at least a year in real development before beta testing.
We haven't decided if we'll do a third demo, but we probably won't.
can't wait for the full game. love Mario rpg titles.
Where can I report this game for malware?

The download link (Sendspace) for Starlite downloaded a zip file that... when unpacked, flooded my PC with trojans and fake virus scanners and horrible PC usage.

I couldn't even play, because there was no game.

I need to report the uploader, either for zipping a virus into a fake labeled game, or for linking people to a corrupt fileshare service.

Can't even begin to tell you how pissed I am.
The file must have been recently hacked because it's been fine for months before this. It should not have been an exe file.

Because of this, we are reuploading it to a different host, I don't really trust sendspace right now.

How annoying. Hopefully this happened recently and not too many people were affected. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
@undivision few. I was just about to download it too yesterday. If that were to happen to me I would blow up who was responsible. heh. I just got attacked a while back by two trojans. Anyway I trust it is safe to download it now?
