The New Disciples (Season 1)

Today... I did a mistake, but let's start from the beginning: this "game", The New Disciples (Season 1). Yes, this is because there is also a Season 2 and tbey're both complete and consists of six episodes each.
The game is a visual novel (for a lack of a better term) made with rpgmaker 2000 by the newdisciples that technically is a group of three people. The game consists in a series of non-interactive comedy sketches, and that's why I should have written "the game" like I did in the first line of this review.

The episodes are about the adventures of Jesus (JC) and his new followers, in 2010. I'm pretty sure I do not have to tell you who Jesus is, and beside him there are guest appearances of other characters like Joseph and Mary, Peter, the evangelists... but also other characters like Lincoln and Richard Simmons. Uh ok!
Now, the original characters, the new disciples, are a weird bunch, we've an atheist that still wants to help and is a voice of reason, the invisible man, a conspiracy theorist that lives inside a crate, a and so on.


And now I am not really sure I want to see the other episodes...

Now, our characters live various "adventures" and talk about various subjects, 95% of the game consists in dialogues, and as you can probably expect there is blasphemy, profanities, racism and lots of swearing, but there is a lack in the fun department. Do not get me wrong, blasphemy CAN be fun IF done right, but here "the game" just tries to be fun, but seems to be written by a group of angsty teenagers.

Unfortunately it's not even good to look at, mapping is very bland and pretty bad, despite the use of some ripped assets and edits he locations are uninspiring, overly large and they also lack details, decorations and furniture.
The only good things I can find is the idea to divide "the game" in various episodes that can be watched separately, and also the lack of bugs and errors... but ok, there isn't a lot to do here, nor much else to say!

Final Verdict
The New Disciples (Season 1) is a pretty much uninspired and unfunny visual novel that has really few good qualities (the idea wasn't overall really bad at all). Maybe the problem is my sense of humor (I believe there are far better ways to waste our time!), in any case also for the other aspects this is a forgettable collection of different scenarios. You've been warned!
