Alright, I fixed the event <-> hero collision trigger so that it actually works. Turns out I never really did implement it in the first place and I don't know why. It's the classic on-screen enemy encounter catalyst! I've also added more to move event commands, which includes the change graphic move command.
Here's a dump of the rest of what I've done since last time:
- Added support for multiple RTP folders and RPG Maker 2000 standard folder
- Fixed: reporting an event with no name crashes the engine
- Added conditional branches and while loops
- Added calling of common events
- Added calling of pages out of other map events
- Added common events that are parallel/auto on switches or not
- Fixed: Touch/Collision didn't do anything for event triggers
- Fixed: Events weren't transparent if that box was checked
- Added some more move commands like move to hero, change graphic, etc.
Now for the release date. I'm going to try hitting March 20th for the beta. It might still be unfinished, but it should be possible to play and make games with. Hopefully I can integrate the rest of the database as easily as before.

WolfCoder is like the Don Miguel of 201x.
Ha ha ha.
But seriously though, this is amazing, and I am excited to try this out. With the additional add-ins and some changes that had to be made in this, I'd say this will be epic as hell. Good show. :D
Nah, it's going to be a real game with its own page. I've drawn some chapsets and things alongside this project already and it'll be gamepaged in the future.
I'm developing an upgradable save format plus Vista folder structures. You can't just save data everywhere, I have to locate your user folder and create and manage an entry for "wcrpg". It will contain all your game saves and global settings so every game you ever play uses the same settings even if you run a different version of the engine.

ARRGHHH!
I know this is a potentially stupid question... did Don Miguel die? I ask because of the above comments and the fact that I haven't heard of him working on anything else in years now.

Don was last interviewed by UPRC in the former Gamingw.net a year ago. The original article is now gone because of the shift to Saltw.net
"Die" is a bit too extreme of a word though...*facepalms*

Haha, not really sure why I added from "beyond the grave"
If was dead, I covered it.

Well it's good news that the guy's still alive :D
I figured as much, if he had really died I would think most of us would know.

I really miss those interviews =( I wish I saved the ones we did.... We had a lot of cool ones! Good days, G&D Cesspool Mod Crew, good days...
It sounds like I'm more of an asshole than Don Miguel though. I'm more like Zun for being nothing like him at all save for being a one-person game studio. Especially the part where I really hate alcohol and drink tons of coffee/energy drinks instead. Oh, and I used to play the piano and I've been meaning to get myself composing music but never got around to it. I better get going on that sometime soon.
Don Miguel posted quite recently in fdelapena's topic on porting RM2k3 onto GP32, actually. At least, it was someone with his username who didn't seem to be grasping for attention, just saying "Oh hey, I remember helping translate this way back, good to see people still using it!".
To reference the linked interview, I personally still actually like making games in RPG Maker 2003. I'm not that concerned about what I use. After this project is completed though, I'll be able to have whatever power I need and can modify the engine to a variety of gameplay styles.
I'll probably pick up a copy of RPG Maker 2009 Ultimate over EasyRPG since they're killing support for the .lxx files. Since they're killing support for the .lxx files, their software is useless to me and my engine. Unless someone wrote a better editor that doesn't break backwards compatibility.
Writing my own would be a little too much work for what I originally planned.
