During an opera performance, several members of the audience become engulfed in flames. All except for one, an NYPD Officer named Aya Brea.

This incident is only the first of many, which altogether become the worst incident in the history of New York City.

Having left the NYPD, Aya Brea joined an Anti-NMC group called M.I.S.T., who were in charge of eliminating the few remaining Neo-Mitochondrion Creatures roaming the country.

During an investigation of the Akropolis Tower, Aya begins to realize that there is more going on than what was previously known...


--INFORMATION--

Parasite Eve: Reboot is a semi-full remake of the first two games of the PE franchise. It will feature many of the same surprises and thrills that the originals had to offer!

--FEATURES--

ADDED FEATURES:
-Changed to an Action Battle System
-Take screenshots with F5
-BP Vendors will be placed in random spots around the the game
-Storage systems will be placed in various places too


SIMILARITIES:
-Relive the classics with original PE/PE2 music straight from the OST
-Those useless good luck charms from PE1? Now they've got some kick!
-Most enemies and bosses will return
-Same plot as the original, with the same dialogue.


PLANNED FEATURES:
-Remake of Chrysler Bldg.
-New weapons to use and enemies to take on as you fight your way through both classics
-New Parasite Energies to uncover and take control of
-Understand the flow of the story with a bridge between the first two games AND a possible small bit of story leading to the events of The 3rd Birthday!

Note: this is not a full remake, therefore, many of the weapons and items obtained in each game will not be there, but will be replaced with new ones or not replaced at all. Many PE1 items (Cure-D, Healing 2, etc.) are replaced with PE2 items (Stim, Recovery2, etc.) I am still in DIRE need of resources, mainly enemies and tiles, so hopefully I will get some help with that.

Recruiting Enemy Spriters

Before I say anything: please don't ask me to Google or look around for resources.
I've looked for suitable enemy sprites, but I can't find anything that would suit this game well.


I need to recruit a few spriters who are ready and willing to create sprites for some of the game's enemies. I have pictures of the enemies I need to be sprited, and it would be greatly helpful. If I could sprite, I'd do some of it, but I can't sprite worth crap :P.

The sprites have to be like a normal character sprite set, with all 4 directions and walking animations (if it wasn't already obvious). They can be small or large depending on the enemy you choose to sprite, but try not to make it TOO small or TOO large.

The enemies I need are as follows:
>Rat - have the image - sprites I currently have aren't scary or big enough
>Parrot - have the image - sprites I chose are too big and bulky
>Frog - have the image - currently placehold with tadpoles
>Alligator (1st boss) - have the image - is NOT a regular alligator
>Eve - have the image - if you could do multiple forms of her, that'd be great, but they aren't needed ATM...
>Snake - have the image - actually ill use any snake sprite for this
>Spider - have the image - same as above
>Chameleon - have the image - haven't seen this sprite anywhere, not like normal lizard.

Note: I do not want regular sprites of these. I feel that having stuff like a small green frog jumping around wouldn't be as menacing as a large, grimy looking one. So please don't redirect me to an image of a regular bird or whatever, cause they wouldn't fit this game's these very much.

So if you're up to doing one of these, Ill send you the image.

I will be doing each Day/Chapter as a separate expansion pack to make it easier to manage. The game will be produced as follows:

Another demo is gonna be released probably by tomorrow. Just gotta tune up some of the enemies and maps and such.

... Are YOU fucking kidding me? If you wanna hate a game just because it isn't original, go for it. Do NOT, however, bitch about it on the game's page without trying out the finalized version of the game first because you don't like VX or people's separate perceptives of certain games and their attempts to emulate it. Download available!? I'm totally going to give this game a go!
I had started looking for some new tilesets anyway, but I couldnt find any that would suit this type of game well. Since PE takes place in modern day places (NYC, LA), I guess it'd be hard to find the right type of tiles.

But one thing that does bug me is that if most people think the default RTP is crap, then why include it with the maker, or why use it period?

(besides that quote was about people calling this idea shit, not b/c of the tiles)
Well, you have to understand that the people yelling "RMVX RTP is crap" have no say over what's included with the maker, so that's moot.

I sympathize with those people who can't create graphics for themselves (or just aren't natural artists) and have to rely on other means. The VX RTP is readily available, so people use it. However, I think you'd be doing this game a disservice by using it without looking at other avenues first. Have you tried asking someone to help you with the graphics? Have you searched for sprite rips of modern tiles, or are you against using those resources? Have you looked at other tiles?

I agree with F-G that the VX RTP doesn't fit Parasite Eve. It's so mismatched. The atmosphere of your game would be lost, as would immersion. I myself have no problems with the VX RTP, as I don't think it's inherently hideous, but it certainly looks out of place in a Parasite Eve game.

Ultimately, however, it is entirely up to you. Suggestions are fine and dandy, but unless you take 'em into consideration, what is there to do?

(Too slow, Crimson posted before me and said some things I did, so no intention of basically repeating what he said, my bad!)

I wouldn't say the RTP is crap, it isn't that pretty to look at with its blockiness, it's default for a reason.
It's a good starting place for a beginner learning the program, it's a tool so-to-speak to help teach.
Now not saying the RTP can't be used beautifully, in the case of rm2k3 I think Corfaisus does a wonderful job of showing its potential.
But the VX RTP just doesn't do that too well...

And you said it, the game takes place in NYC, LA, castles and grasslands just doesn't cover everything.

I definitely wouldn't even dream of using RM2k(3) RTP for my zombie game, it just doesn't set the mood at all.
I know VX modern tiles are out there, just keep looking and maybe someone can help point you in the right direction.
Ok, well Ill start searching for some better fitting tiles, so hopefully the maps will have a better feel to them the next time I release a download.

EDIT: Found some better tiles already :P
Now just gotta adjust them to work right.
Heh, I was just playing 3rd Birthday a moment ago. Awesome. Also, subscribed, PE is one of my favorites.

I got the game to run okay. No errors on start-up, or anything. However, the text is illegible. And by "illegible" I mean "invisible". Instead of seeing the friendly "New Game", "Continue", and "Quit" options, I get a bunch of empty lines. Thinking it was just a random bug, I selected the first option (traditionally "New Game"). The game seemed to want to display text, but it was merely an empty text box with the little arrow pointing at the bottom, prompting that there was more nontext to display. To say the least, I didn't play much after that.

It looks like the game uses the standard font that comes with the RTP, so I have no clue what's going on here.
oops, i forgot to add the new font I changed it to when i uploaded it.

The font is called "Everyday" so I guess you could search for it and install it.

You'd probably want to update the download so that it has the font included in it for future players. If it has not already happened, I suppose the next update to the game will have it?

Anyway, I'm hunting for "Everyday".

Well, the font is visable now! However, the lack of textbox makes it hard to read in the opening scene in the street. I know Parasite Eve didn't have textboxes, but the game was generally much darker so that having white text without a textbox was much more visible.

I can endlessly talk to that cop to basically get infinite ammo, can't I? Then again I've never personally had that much of an issue with ammo in this game to begin with.

I can walk through the cars? These passibilites aren't making sense to me.

I don't recall a throne in the opera, but whatever.

I like how the lights dimmed before Eva does her song. Though, to be fair, shouldn't there be a spotlight on her? Your call if it's too technical for you to pull off.

Use the Cell phone to save, huh? Interesting take on the "Meep hotline" concept.

To say that I was half-expecting a battle system that closely followed Parasite Eve's action-based system would be somewhat understandable. I was looking for something along the lines of Hayate no Gotoku - Dream Apocalypse, actually. That I get this side-view system is, well, somewhat underwhelming. I don't mean to say that getting action-based systems to work well, if at all, in RPG Maker is easy, but I suspect that other players would be similarly be underwhelmed.

There's some text-wrap issues in the fight against "Actress(?)". Normally, I would suggest using the text preview option that VX has to fix this. Sadly, the text preview option only displays the text in the default font (which, by the way, is why I thought this was using the default font to begin with). The only thing I can suggest is that if the text in the preview looks like it fits the window with the default font, you may want to put some text on a new line.

There were no obvious signs of which curtain Melissa/Eve went behind. Had I no experience with the original game, it would be total guesswork as to which curtain to use.

Wow, these enemies have some serious "artifacts" (white outlines) on them! I don't care as much as others about graphics, but since enemies are going to be more prevalent than other things in-game, maybe you might want to try to fix them? I dunno. Your call.

I'm only seeing one door in this hall? Unless those side thingies are "doors"? Yep, they are. Huh. Not sure what to make of that. I think I know what you're aiming for, but I would make the doors a tad more obvious.

I put in a request over at RMRK.net asking for a script that works like PE's battle system so I can get rid of the SBS it currently has.

@Marrend:

-Ill change the textboxes from Transparent to Dark so they'll be easier to read
-Once i get a script to change item limits, ill put a limit on that
-It was changed to a chair mostly b/c of the play
-I thought i changes the car passability, but ill check
-Ill try and get a spotlight on her, cuz that makes more sense
-I fig'd a cell phone would be a more modern change that more people would appreciate
-Text errors and enemy battles will be fixed
-Ill edit the maps to make it easier to find the backstage area
