Assuming the role of a male high school student in Japan, the player will meet, interact with, and date a number of female characters with the goal of winding up with one of them at the end of a 101-day calendar. Yeah, you've seen this all before...or have you?
In other romance sims, there's little reason to replay the game again once you've pursued all the characters you're interested in. But Heartache 101 allows for a variable female cast. The number of characters in the game is completely open-ended!
You can create new characters and add them to the game, share them with other users, and add characters created by other users. You can create the images for custom characters from a template, or use images you created yourself, or images from any source. (only "standing" images of characters can be imported; there is no event CG in the game) A simple scripting language is provided for writing story events. You can also customize some of the music.
The game system itself is in part a visual novel interface with gameplay that include conversational decision-making, board game-like mechanics, stat management, financial management, and more.

Since I've been asked many times if I would ever make a sequel to Heartache....
Well this is not a sequel. In very many ways it's radically different. But some might find that it partially retains a bit of the same feel?
So I'm posting the first public screenshot here, and whoever is interested, look for a game page up in the next week or two with the title "Where One Citizen". Game is not complete yet, but after 10 years of development it's about time to start showing it!

Any day. Again, a fair warning, these games are good, but not children's VNs. Yandere-chan is bloody, and Katawa Shoujo has sexual content, so take care.

so, dumb question, how do i add characters to the game? i asume i need another download?
For pre-made custom characters, there is a FAQ, and one of the items answers this question ("So, I downloaded some custom content! What do I do with it?"). Perhaps it does not explain the process in detail as other items on that FAQ are, but we can hope that it is sufficient!
For a new character, well, that's a different critter!

i found a tutorial of sorts, i copied the whole game so i can mess around and see if i can get it to work without accidentaly destroying it
also, to the creator(s), thank you for meking it, i LOVE it, just reached the ending with the red haired girl (younger sister, forgot the name sorry)

Technically speaking, there is an option to expand on previously made material. With that option, the tachie is already made, as would be the profile.
*Edit: Saying that, jelle, there are pre-made tachie sets that flowertheif made ages ago. Alternatively, there was a post by this guy that offered to make tachie.

yeah, i took a look but didn't get it (i never get an explanation, i usualy learn in a trial and error way, but i like it since i learn other tricks along the way

author=VilestormsLook, I'll be short. This is a Visual Novel. The whole point is to read the dialogue. Expecting to enjoy a VN when you skip the story makes as much sense as expecting to enjoy an FPS without using weapons. If this critic thing works out for you, don't embarass yourself and review games from genres you actually know of and like, okay?

I thought this would be girly in a way I don't like, but I really like it! It's interesting! I've only met three girls though!

This was a very well made game, I myself am making a game completely different from this. It is good to know that not just random people are making make-shift games that they made in a day or two. This game looked like it took time to create, think out, and implement all of the features you had added. This is one of the better games I have seen.
