SAVE YOUR ALLIES.
CONTROL YOUR VANGUARD.
DESTROY YOUR ENEMIES.

Created for the RMVX Ace Nugget Crash Course, Obelisk: Devilkiller is a turn-based RPG centered around a unique collection of battle mechanics designed around the concept of a small army toppling mighty foes.

In this 3-5 hour romp, you'll fend off a horde of powerful bosses as twelve elite warriors - seven of which you'll have to save from your enemies. After you're done building and customizing your army with demonic Essence, the ultimate rival awaits you in his horrible fortress!

OBELISK Release

So, uh, I released Obelisk: Devilkiller. If people like it, I'll most likely expand it to be what I originally intended with more bosses and dungeons and items and Craze-y goodness.

The game's about 2-5 hours, and so non-linear it hurts. (Really. You will be physically injured due to facepalming when you make a stupid mistake and die for it.) For a game made in eight days, I'm pretty proud of it, and I'm excited as hell to get this battle system out in the open.

ENJOY!

Good game, I liked it. The fights were pretty well-balanced and the items plus the party as well. My favs were Princess (dat damage), Titania (berserk healer <3) and esp.Hanaan <3 (almost never dies) Although I fought only one battle with him (the last one) but Kristoph really was the best tank.

Tanks - Kristoph > Darren > Sirius (I used him only to elongate the fights a little)
Mages - Princess > Illinois (but it seems like Illi would be good at group battles... his special skill is boring tho)
Controllers - Hanaan (<3) > Carmilla (but still Carmi was really handy with her sleep spell. Loved her)
Blitzers - Felix >/= Xiang > Bardoc (I still liked using Bardoc every now and then. Good gamble)
Support - Titania >/= Adnis (both had their uses actually, very balanced, but I still prefer Titania, she kinda grew on me) Gotta love Kristoph as a healer as well. He did both jobs really well.

8/10, really nice.

Thanks! It's a really messy, experimental little game, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. Maybe one day I'll put the battle system into something a bit more focused. XD
my fave character was also the last I got *weeps silently*

she's pretty wonderful!

i should rip out this battle system and use it again someday
Hi, just popping in to comment on a little detail: I really like that you called the arcane passive "I am Myself" rather than continuing the celestial theme with something cliche like "I am the Stars" (which is what I expected it to be). I have no idea if you intended it this way, but I interpreted it as a compellingly humanist sentiment: these people could draw strength from immeasurably powerful celestial bodies, but instead they say nah, I'm as strong as the sun and moon on my own. I found that delightfully clever and surprisingly meaningful for throwaway flavor text. If I ever get around to making my own story (one of these days!) I'll be sorely tempted to work the phrase in somehow.
