Going all custom with the graphics was one of the best decisions to make with Chronology. Here's some progress.

We're in the 'a lot of things going on behind the scenes progress but still progress' part, but here's some progress. Thanks and credit to JosephSeraph!

Fingers crossed for you Feld, your dedication to this project and your vision is awe-inspiring. JosephSeraph is a true wonder! It appears very medieval fantasy, I like the direction it's going in.
Really nice. The colours are great.I love the lights.
Beautiful stuff man! I agree with Kenlan, the lighting is looking pretty dope! :) Keep up the good work, I'm rooting for you!

joser's entire twitter is just doing lighting effects with blender. it's paying off
Heheh thanks guysss!!! `v´ <3

Adding a bit of insight on the part of development where we are, we are still experimenting with visual styles and visuals, but we're also moving on with the beginning of real graphical production. That basically means: I hate everything i made up to this point and im forcing felds to let me redo everything i was unhappy with the palette / color direction of the old graphics, which took me to bring these tiles to blender and shade them there. It surprisingly paid off; It's much quicker and more consistent than shading everything manually! The new tileset palette (which is more high colour, ps1ish despite the original intention being very SNES-y) will also allow me to retouch the character sprites and achieve what'll hopefully be the final look of the game.

We're still assessing whether to use tiles, pre-rendered (parallax) maps or a mixture of both, with me weighing on the parallax side (because making tilesets is a mess) and him weighing on the tiles side of things (because tiles are more flexible) so we'll see how it flows...

...That being said, we're working on something very very exciting, which I'm not sure I can disclose yet, but I'm very very excited.

I'm also planning to spend a season on Felds' house in western US to work extensively on the game (and to know another country, ya know) so hopefully this will be a period of intense progress and lot sof new ideas happening.

Look forward to it!

and sorry for abandoning my own projects like the big old turd i am at least collaborating with felds isn't as intensely emotionally demanding as working on my own things is and i am absolutely in love with the ideas i've read on chronology's docs :)
Good stuff, best of luck on the grafix. It really does come down to finding a speedy consistent workflow because I found 3D (full) parallax mapping to be very time consuming (god help you if you misplace source files and realize you need to remake a background) but then going back to 2D pixel/art tilesets time consuming in... different ways.

How are you doing the lighting? Are you mocking a room in 3D and simply taking the light pass to put over the tiles?

wow!!

I couldn't realistically afford to pay Jo what he's worth. I should have captured Jo and locked him in the basement to work on my games exclusively when the opportunity presented itself.
Stuff like this makes me want to try my hand at pixel art again. Great stuff.

can't make a bad game if you don't finish any games
